Sister has 3 months left on a year, if she changes over to Sky will there be a cost on leaving early?

    From their cancellation email:

If you request to cancel a service(s)when you are in contract a charge of €150 per product or the monthly amount for the remaining months of your contract will apply to you, whichever is less.

Used that link a few pages back and just checked my bill.

On half price for 12 months.

No contact back or confirmation but went through so obviously anyone can use it and it's not linked to any text message.

Glad I got in before it gets bombarded and they shut it down 😂😂😂

    Happy days.

Thanks. I'm still in contract until November, hopefully it stays active until then. That link says offer remains in place until 30/12/2024. They must be shedding customers to the likes of Sky now that they offer their service via FTTH. Great to see some competition.

I was lucky enough to get a 12 month half price loyalty offer for this current contract and a 9 month half price for the previous. Another one would be great!

I was on the phone to see about the offers - the following were suggested - remove the phone, reduce the number of channels, then the 6-month offer for half price was suggested. I assume I'd actually have to cancel to get the 12-month offer. The rigmarole. I've just filled in the form for 12 months and will see what happens.

I just used the above loyalty half price link. Will see what happens. Better than calling them and jumping through hoops.

Interested to hear how anyone who used this link got on… Did you wait until you were out of contract to use the link. I'm just entering the final 30 days of my contract and wondering do I need to wait until out of contract to get the offer. Have you heard anything from them since. They say in the link that: An email confirming all the details of your new offer will be sent to you by email within the next 72 hours.

I got a letter a few weeks back saying my contract was finished on the 10th of August. So I just waited until the 10th to do it just incase.

No email, no nothing heard back from them, most recent bill issued had the offer applied.

Just used that link myself on Sunday, confirmed it today that it's been applied - half price for 12 more months, no haggling, no begging.

    I love you guys!!

Used the link also. No contact from them after filling out form but just got my half price bill. Happy days. Thanks for posting

Just used it too so hoping it will be still working. Easy way to save. Thanks

Just to add, I got no confirmation email after using that link, and rang them a few days later to start cancellation process as contract was ending. Girl on phone mentioned that she could see I was down for another 12 months half price. Took 20 mins on hold to get through.

We also used that link, but got no confirmation email, so phoned up, our bill was 199 a month, so asked about the loyalty offer and we were given half price for 12 months, the new streaming box and upgraded the broadband to 2gb, so we will be paying 98 euros a month for the next 12 months..

Have you anything in the house that can use 2gig? You must have the ftth as the co-ax can't do 2gig.

For those who tried the link and got the offer - did your equipment remain unchanged?

Have TV360 box (and am in a fibre area, but get signal via coax). I like my BBC recording ability and have no interest in getting a new streaming box.

I was paying €60 a month, used that link provides in this thread (thanks) and didn't get any email. I rang to say I was cancelling but before I got to my spiel was told I am currently signed up to €30 and the email will now be sent out. I'm happy enough to be saving €30 a month

I did nothing but yet Virgin e-mailed me today saying they’re automatically increasing my 250Mb broadband only plan to 500Mb

“To say thanks we’re boosting your broadband speed.

From September 13th 2024, your broadband will automatically be boosted to 500Mb, and you won’t have to do anything at all. There’ll be no new contract, no additional charges, no new kit, no interruption to service.”

Funny thing is, I don’t have the fibre brought to the house so I’ve no idea how they’re gonna give me 500Mb if there’s ’no new kit’ required.

I’m surprised Virgin give anything, wonder what the catch is?

The white modem will handle 500 no bother at all, you don't need fibre the co-ax system will go up to 1gig.

Used the link last month and got my first bill yesterday.

A bit of a weird one. I was on 31 off 70 for the last 12 months. My total bill before discounts was €140 as its for August and September. The discounts I got were:

    • 31 off 70 for August (-€31)
    • 50% half price for August (-€19.51)
    • 50% half price for September (-€35)

It appears I got a double benefit in August and (roughly) received a 75% discount!

Do you need to be out of contract to use the link, mine is not up till November?

I'm also out of contract early November, rang loyalty department last week who weren't able to give me any decent offer and I gave notice to close my account.

I used the online form a few days ago and didn't hear anything back. Rang loyalty department today and they have told me the notice to close the account has been cancelled and I have been entered into a new 12 month contract as of this week with the discount applied.

I'm asking for a BB and TV customer, if he clicks the link does it just start a new half price deal for 12 months? He has the 360 box and is terrified they'll enter him into a new deal cancelling the 360 box and they'd send him out a streaming box, I'm almost certain this won't happen but I just want to be certain.

It looks like it just extends the status quo with the discount applied, I haven't been contacted advising that they are sending me the new streaming box.

They had advised me previously that if I upgrade my service or avail of a different bundle then I'd have to get the new streaming box and fibre line installed within the house. Status quo with a discount is fine with me!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,107 ✭✭✭✭CoBo55

Thanks for that, he has a fibre installation as it's a recent new install.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 322 ✭✭Bubonic

Just to confirm, I used the link and its applied to the latest bill, which means in the last week I've gone to twice the speed for half the price.

Thanks to everyone who posted it!

I'm out of contact early December, should I fill the form now or wait until November? Thanks
