142 DC Broken down at New Row in Naas, traffic backed all the way down

  • Registered Users Posts: 76 ✭✭Jameslee23

absolutely ridiculous if they get rid of the 12 double-deckers this year they might replace those couches in 2026

Got the 726 yesterday from Portlaoise. Half 6 never came but half 7 did and left 10 mins late and was a 142 reg Tourismo. Gearbox was eff'd driver had to drive the bus manually, door had to be pulled closed so it locked properly and it felt very jerky especially on the motorway, one heap of sh*t.

One of the 08 Setras was parked up in Monasterevin, obviously broken down.

Some buses that usually do the 300 service are being taken off that and placed on the 726 to avoid services getting cancelled, yet there's loads of buses in their depot that could be used that look half decent (for their standards)

probably they can’t be repair . I think they only have one 141 Reg lion King now.

  • Registered Users Posts: 49 AX612

No, they could repair it but choose not to. It's also King Long, not “lion king” whatever that means...

What a travesty of a service. You can't rely on a service that breaks down like this. Yet, the service is in place to be a reliable service to the public.

TFI or who ever grant licenses should have more eyes on the quality of the fleet during the licence period.

if they would’ve done their job, the company would’ve been off the road years ago

As I mentioned the NTA has given them a slap on the wrist over the poor service on the 726 service. Taking buses off the 300 service to help this but then leaves the 300 with missing services so it's lose lose. The answer is simple - buy new buses to replace older stock or for expansion.

2 09 KE Vanhool's are up at their depot during the week looking worse for ware. Doors just left open and wipers hanging off/missing. Safe to say the 12 reg Vanhools are the only ones left and sure, why would you need loads of deckers for the 726 when the clientele is very poor on it in recent times...

they definitely need to purchase five double-decker for the 726 this year. I just hope they just decide not to purchase like 2016 ones.

Interesting and about time. Are you able to share any info on what the 'slap on the wrist' was?

  • Registered Users Posts: 76 ✭✭Jameslee23

I think the oldest bus is a 10 now cause I haven’t seen the older ones in a few days

Speculation…but does any know what operator this was? I know Dublin Coach runs the 300 from Dublin to Tralee/Killarney via Adare.

One of the new Scania’s as well.

Damage is small but will keep it off road for a while.

there was a purple coach parked outside Kildare village and it had the green bus sign in the front window

  • Registered Users Posts: 49 AX612

Honestly I'm not sure exactly but I presume they were told something like “Up your game on the service or we'll take the route off you and tender it to another operator”

A coach broke down in Killarney this afternoon.

Waiting on the L25 home from Dundrum and a Dublin Coach citaro just passed me by going towards Dundrum Luas. Was likely on the 21:15 750 ex. Dublin Airport. First time I've seen a single decker on it!

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,217 ✭✭✭Kaisr Sose

If it's the one I was on going to airport in March, it's fairly rough.

Is there any way of knowing that a particular bus on a particular service will actually be running. I've had it happen to me twice where I went to take the 300 from Burgh Quay and the bus either just wasn't there or it said, 'not in service', which is enough to make me second-guess the whole thing.

Does the Dublin Coach app give any indication that a particular bus is actually going to go?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,135 ✭✭✭p_haugh

As far as I can tell, it just shows the bus location for a given service (if its tracking).

Would be great if they could be viewed on bustimes like Aircoach or CityLink!

Fair play to the whistle blower for taking a stand and to th WRC for the speedy action. The respondent will just want to fudge and bury this and already trying. Hopefully the relevant authorities are paying attention to this hearing and launch seperate wider investigations into the company, the condition of the fleet and whether a licence needs to be revoked.

I just had a look at what was registered under Citi Bus Ltd on RTOL.ie and it appears to be only the 2022 Scania Ayat Horizons with the rest of the vehicles seemingly on the Kyanitedale Limited.

I thought Citi Bus T/A Dublin Coach was supposed to be the main operating company? Does anyone know if or when this changed and if any vehicles have migrated from the Citi Bus license to the Kyanitedale Limited one or vice versa?

  • Registered Users Posts: 49 AX612

There is a future on the app that shows the buses GPS location and buses fleet number too which is the closest we'll get to a “Dublin Coach bustimes”

Dublin Coach go under like 3 different legal letterings. There was or is a 3rd one but I can't remember what it was called. At first, I thought it was “Last Bus Passive” but that's actually Aircoach so it's something else
