I could be wrong but I'm nearly certain Dearbhla mentioned ages back that she had spoken to Jane but hey what does that matter to get in the way of a great storyline..in other words it could be Jane regardless.

Yeah I think that Jane is meant to be in Paris so I doubt very much it will be Jane - But it could have been a good story

She got onto a bus or into a taxi after hugging Anna.

Oisín was one of the men accused of the murder that Kerrie-Ann committed.

Did Melanie really head off to Scotland or maybe Goo Eyes lost it when she told him to keep away from her/ not speak to her again. Also, Zoe was really fuming when she heard Melanie was behind the car theft but she seemed to get over it very quickly. Can't recall, did Zoe tell Hughie it was all set up by Melanie?

Ah, just read the body is supposed to be buried there for three months - guess that rules Melanie out.

I just don't see how it can be anyone that we know. Surely if someone in carraigstown hadn't been heard of for 3 months there'd be a missing person search going on??

    Where is Maxine gone?

The fact people can go into the shed for months leaves all doors open, Fidelma was last seen before going to Octoberfest and was back on last night, so they can pick anyone who is in the shed as the victim.

Is Jess (Aoife Bawle) doing the VO for the new EIR ad, I'm convinced it's her…

I have to say I laughed my ass off when he punched the head off of Rafferty in the pub out of nowhere with his Clint Eastwood act. Imagine that fella telling you to say a few Hail Marys and Our Fathers

I still think Jane could be a contender. It depends on if Derbhala actually mentioned that she spoke to her or if all the communication was via text or WhatsApp etc. If its the latter then Jane's killer could just have been messaging Derbhala from Jane's phone. Callum was last mentioned as travelling South America or something so if he's reached out to his mother since then, the killer could have easily fobbed him off with some texts now and again. It'd be very believable for Callum to think Jane was too absorbed with her new man to be bothered calling him.

I keep going back to Jane as the victim purely because her exit was so abrupt and bizarre. Why wasn't she just packed off to live with Callum? They could have just said he was finished travelling and had settled in another country and she went over to him. Instead we heard from Derbhala that she went to Paris with an unseen man and then Derbhala mentioned Jane was staying permanently in his chateau in another part of France and everyone acted like that was normal considering it all happened in the space of about 7 weeks.

If it is Jane it puts Tommy in the firing line as her ex and it might seem a little too convenient to the gardai that he was the one to discover the body. They might think its one of those cases where the killer knew the body was going to be discovered so they "discovered" it themselves to try and gain some control of the narrative. Even the fact that he mentioned Zak in his second interview to the gardai and not in the first might make the gardai think Tommy was trying to deflect suspicion and muddy the waters.

There's an awful lot of mileage in this story if the victim is Jane (or someone well known to long term viewers) but I'd like to see her come back since she was one of the better characters.

I'm probably being overly optimistic and giving the writers abilities too much credit with the above speculation 🤣.

The only thing with Jane is she's older than 40. They've put the victim in the 20-40 bracket but then again they said approximately so maybe that's enough wiggle room for them. It'd be a real shame to have this massive Jane story happen off screen but nothing is impossible with these writers.

I can't think of any character that it could be, maybe it'll just be a randomer. Or the original Jess, killed by the new one.

Jane left sometime last year so that should rule her out if the body is around 3 months in the ground.

Mairead doesn't seem bothered at all that her ex husbands murder was never solved.

Is she not gone a lot longer than 3 months though? It must be 6-8 months when she left if not longer but I suppose this is make it up as you go along city.

Maybe she was involved with Maxine and DI McCabe.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 891 ✭✭✭Otis Hill

Had this been confirmed? At least some of her immediate family and close friends are still in the show, you'd think they'd have mentioned not hearing from her lately. If that's correct at least there should be good mileage in that story but not looking forward to the painfully constipated looks we all know a certain character will be making during their grieving scenes

Makes the playschool writers look normal so, it says she was last seen 2 years ago but they reckon the body was only buried around 3 months ago. What's new with the idiots writing this.

It doesn't make sense at all. Typical fair city! Why the **** didn't they make it Jane. At least Jane hasn't been gone 2 years.

Complete nonsense story again 😠😡. Obviously Damos going to get blamed and we'll have weeks of him being angry and having his mad red face on screen. The writers must have to give Damo his contractual time.

Poor aul Laura all she ever done was walk around Carrigstown with a sports bag or yoga mat!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,360 ✭✭✭threetrees

That really makes no sense, it should be a person in a current storyline, and why bury her in carraigstown? She was never a target for murder and a random mistaken identity doesn't wash either as she was probably good at self defence.

It'd be better to make it be an ex of Steo's or someone his prison inmate brother was involved with.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,320 ✭✭✭con747

Jane, Maria, Maxine and a few others hiding in the shed would have been believable but Laura? It just keeps getting worse, I need to get my popcorn out to see how they join these dots.

has Melanie been around since the body was discovered? Could it be her…

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 891 ✭✭✭Otis Hill

It's been confirmed in spoilers who the body is and its not Melanie.

The victim has been absent from the show since 2022 so presumably she set foot in Carrigstown off screen at some point and was murdered immediately before she could make contact with family and friends to tell them she was visiting. That's the only way it'll fit with the timeline of the death occurring within the last 3 months. Or else they'll have to go back to their original assessment of the death being sometime in the last 3 years but surely science can give a more exact window than what they've shown onscreen. I think maybe different writers aren't looking at each others notes from episode to episode

    Go on Cass!!!

The staples of Soaps are unwanted pregancy, infidelity and serious crime.

When a soap is hitting the skids in the ratings, they tend to introduce a gratuitous crime to try to perk things up. Just look at Corrie, its been lost in a wilderness of mediocrity for ages now.....accordingly the serious crime count has gone through the roof (they even had a serial killer FFS)
