I guess that makes sense, if Liam Gallagher is one of the headliners then holding the announcement back may help shift a few more tickets for his Limerick show.

Is it possible that the same PR team are running EP and the search for a new manager for the Irish football team?

Could Gus Poyet be announced as the Saturday night headliner?

Gavin James putting the lads through their paces at Abbotstown?

I don’t get if he is a headliner at EP but yet can’t sell tickets for limerick. Doesn’t make sense. Why would they do that.

Last week with all the changes on their socials. Beyoncé also released her new album and she said she will tour again in 2024.
This could have caused an unexpected hault to their plans? Maybe she is the headliner and they want to wait until her tour announcements before they give the lineup? I could be completely wrong.
Taylor Swift is also still free on the Sunday night and she is only across in London so big potential there too.

The headliner needs to be big anyway if they are holding off this long and it’s the 20th edition.

I hope there is a big Dj playing the main stage. That would be good.

The Script may be headlining since they are not playing Pinks Irish dates but are playing all her other tour dates.

Any EP24 spotify playlists with artists ACTUALLY likely to play?

I want to get hyped (despite the later announcement) but everywhere I look it's Blink-182/The Weeknd/Green Day who we know will likely not happen, no Noah Kahan etc.

Swift and Beyonce are far too big to be playing EP.

The Script probably not supporting Pink here as they're well known here, whereas much smaller abroad where they're supporting her.

not really a staffing issue. EP has an announcement strategy and has not deviated from it. EP sells out on presales alone so line up announcement has zero impact on sales. I’m sure next year if that changes they might do a Christmas headliner announcement as a way to push sales.

slow sales on summer shows for mcd wouldn’t affect EP announcement. All the work is done before announcing shows.

personally think Liam Is unlikely even though he is in the country that weekend. He is playing across the country this year and two of those big shows aren’t selling well- Belfast and Limerick.
the script played last year, thus not in contention for this year.

hate to be bearer of bad news but there is no way that Taylor Swift or beyonce will ever play EP. Their respective fees are more than the budget for the whole festival.

OK who's playing then Fanirish, put us out of our misery. 😀

But Beyonce did play Oxegen, which is not much different to EP now is some ways.

she played oxegen in 2011, beyonce is not charging 2011 prices in 2024. In the intervening years she has cemented herself as one of the biggest artist ever and sells out stadiums across europe for €150 ish a ticket, she ain’t playing EP for her kids allowance money.

I’ve literally posted who is playing on more than one occasion.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,080 ✭✭✭✭bodhrandude

That's it though Fanirish I'm getting fed up with acts been suggested and vetoed which is quite frustrating as we can't even see a fcuking line up poster.

Wow, I think we are now through the looking glass. Unless you're taking the pss of course.

Im probably going to park this discussion here for now as its a little tiresome for everyone but..

MCD are prioritizing their effort in to promoting the summer shows over EP

EP announcement is not affected by summer shows

Im sure you have an answer, but sounds like a contradiction.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 2,212 ✭✭✭Mucker46

Would I like the announcement to have Bern made so I could start researching? Of course. Would I like specific acts playing? Of course. Do I think it's mad that all tickets are sold and no announcement? Of course.

Am I getting stressed over it? No. This happens every year and I still find time to do research and have discovered so many bands over the years. Less time at main stage but still loafs of great music. Let's just relax and enjoy the fact that if we want to go we can and if not want to can choose to do that as no issue selling on tickets.

Waiting for an announcement is a first world problem.

'Electric Picnic organisers have been contacted for comment.'

Well I'm glad someone has feckin reminded them at this stage.

Shut up, Mucker. Now's not the time for logic.

Ah Stillill a bit of logic from time to time is alright

There's alot of summer shows not selling out yet Arcade Fire in Malahide, LCD/Idles/Young Fathers also in Malahide, Fatboy Slim in Fairview, Take That (multiple venues) and many more. If there was overlap that might be delaying the announcement in an effort to not deflect from those ticket sales.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,085 ✭✭✭Fanirish

final word on is there is an enormous amount of admin work to be able to announce all the summer shows and Electric picnic. They need to prioritise the earlier shows in the summer which is perfectly reasonable. Only so many hours in the day. Similarly festival republic have reading and Leeds to announce and sell tickets for. EP is thus on the back burner and has an annual announcement strategy of March/April for decade plus now.
Glastonbury is on 6 weeks earlier and only announced the other week.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 861 ✭✭✭antfin

You also "literally" posted on 27 March "Line up this week". So when you literally post stuff I'm sure people can choose to not literally believe it as being literally fact based on the perception that you throw the kitchen sink at guess work, whether based on knowledge or not, and some guesses work out and some don't!

Stop. Scruff might spontaneously combust if he has to post those dates again. Last years was April but only on the back of an initial announcement in December. Every other year going back to 2013 has been March. Of course everyone is antsy. Your arguments as to why this is necessary are coming off as not only nonsensical but patronising. This is you at your worst, Fanirish. Be better.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 982 ✭✭✭dav09

I think what really doesn't help with the angst is when names like J Hus, Gerry Cinnamon, Catfish and the Bottleman and Noah Kahan are constantly been thrown around as the most likely headliner/tier 2 acts without many really decent names being mentioned besides the odd one and maybe Lana Del Rey.

The annoying thing is Reading and Leeds was announced ages ago and its on after Electric Picnic, a total contradiction.

I don't know if this was posted yet but more a mid-sized festival line up. Beautiful Days, just some names to mill over happening same weekend as the Picnic. Wouldn't mind Fat Freddy's Drop, New Model Army and Third World out of that lot anyways.
