Brazil still going strong since Sunday. However it was €10.80. Must check out an EU alternative for next month as the fear each time I play something is real 😂

Nigeria gonzo after 2 days and used Nigeria VPN only, but tbh they can see it as a VPN most likely. They must be raking it in by not refunding these taken payments, scummy move, never heard of companies doing this before.

I'll just use one of the excellent dodgy apps going forward, for Netflix-exclusive stuff, as it's less effort than fannying around with gift cards to save a few euros and risk getting banned at any moment with no refund. Dodgy apps have come a long way over the years and some work as well as paid apps.

Gone here too, back to pirating for me not a hope I'd pay Irish prices for it

have streaming services not copped on that we are all happy to pay reasonable prices in our own country but since they have started increasing prices, we become less happy, try and game their system and finally resort to dodgy apps?

surely it would be better long term for them to keep all their customers at reasonable rates rather than lose so many to higher? Or am i missing something?

I'm on gift cards in Turkey - think I'm ok for a few months so will let the dust settle a bit and then try adding more to the account

I have a Turkish Google play account I set up a while ago to get cheap Spotify. I uninstalled the Netflix app on my phone and turned on Turkish VPN, logged in to Turkish play account and installed Netflix, set up a new account with the Gmail address linked to the play account and was able to choose a plan and get to the payment page. Virtual revolut MasterCard was rejected but my ptsb visa was accepted. Only stumbling block was I needed a Turkish phone number for final confirmation which I didn't have but I'm sure there's ways around that.

Might be an option for others to try.

Would signing up in Croatia or Slovenia be harder for NF to shut down because we're all EU members?

Same, I went on holidays for 2 days to Nigeria. A short holiday this time.

I don't even think I'll bother if too much effort again and continues to be a cat and mouse game. My IPTV apps have stuff I may want to watch anyway.

Not a hope I'm paying the Irish prices.

Disney plus about a year ago at no notice cancelled my Turkish account setup that way paying via a Turkish google play account so Disney were able to recognise the non-Turkish origin of the card and I'm sure Netflix would likewise

Doubt it tbh because we're still ultimately breaking the Ts & Cs

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,493 ✭✭✭Wheety

Nigeria account cancelled too. I might try Turkish gift card or just leave it. I will not be paying their Irish prices. Was barely worth at €5 or so in Turkey.

Fair enough, didn't know about Disney doing that. My €2 a month Spotify family account still going strong, probably going to jinx it now. :)

Of course Ireland is the dearest for Netflix!

Wonder why they charge Ireland (pop 5 mil) €20.99, Croatia (pop 4 mil) €9.99 and Slovakia (pop 5.8 mil) €12.99?

Im back to where it all started. They didnt want my 5-7euro from Turkish sub im going to buy accounts on monthly basis on z2u.Not a hope im paying 20€

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,218 ✭✭✭moonboy52

Population has nothing to do with it. Monthly average wage i reckon, is at least a partial reason.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,493 ✭✭✭Wheety

Last roll of the dice. I'm back on Turkish Netflix using a gift card and a new account. I couldn't use the gift card with my old account. Maybe I should have tried incognito mode first but just set up a new one. Will see how long it lasts.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,390 ✭✭✭cullenswood

I moved back to Turkey, from Nigeria with the original account.

Used gift cards this time from g2a.

Code didn't go through first couple of times. Turned off VPN and tried, was told I can't use gift card here. Turned back on VPN and it worked (for now! )

You might be geo-locked to Turkey for the 1st month with a new account. A VPN may be required to view otherwise Netflix will error.

This is a relatively new thing , widely reported on Ozbargains and elsewhere
