But are they ,it seem many return to the countries they claim to be fleeing from for holidays and family occasions....

In one case a chap arrived from South Africa claiming asylum under the guise of fleeing the Persecution of lesbians in South Africa

So what if anybody falls into anyone of those categories but not others? Or all?

    Nice...

What sort of citizen is allowed to speak or give an opinion in your new Republic?

Or do you think anybody except a certain " cohort" as you put it, has no rights to speak or democracy here?

    Talk about infantile argument. Wow

1 & 1 still = 2 (even after a red herring and baseless assertion about there being loads of arriving Muslim IPA’s that are members of some mythical LGBTQ society)

They are arriving from countries that practice sharia law. They were born into that regime. It is the very paradigm of their thought & actions in their lives. This same sharia law has existing capital punishments for homosexuals and regular executions for women based on false claims by ruthless clerics in their regions. FACT.

if I was a Irish member of the LGBTQ or an irish woman who is supporting the arrival of countless fleet loads of these sharia law individuals to this country I’d have a serious reconsideration of my position.

As a husband to a wife & a father of a daughter I know my opposition is 100% stern and will remain so.

You are talking about Ukrainians there.. Last time I looked they were not the people who were being accused of being anti women etc

    And

There are always examples /anecdotes about the few chancers or criminals but that is just carrying on the hysteria.

Fact is there are more to fear from some of the ne'er do wells threatening people at protests and carrying out. arson attacks.

Ah no point talking to you then if ypu take my post out of context like that.

I never said they were likely ALL lgbtq just that they may not want to live in an oppressive society and many of the Afghanis are fleeing just that.

    Also Somalis.

Doesn't mean they give up their religion however. And nobody should be forced to, ever.

But to flee to a liberal country like Ireland knowing that we are the opposite of Sharia.. Come on, either they are thick or the argument is!

By the way your beliefs as regards oppression and women align with mine except I am facing a different direction as a woman, a wife and a mother.

    Goodnight.

If these clowns were coming up with a strategy to lose the next election they couldn't do much better than these hair brained ideas. First the community hotel in Roscrea, now this.

For the life of me I can’t understand why the centre parties don’t pivot in immigration.

They know that immigration is too high, so why not say we have to reduce it, while still being strongly against any disrespectful or violent behaviour against asylum seekers.

Commin sense has left FF and FG in this one.

Maybe FFG want out, SF don't seem interested anymore. I don't think anyone want to win the next electron except the Greens.

Please don't give the illegal economic migrants the idea of claiming asylum because they are gay. We have enough chancers.

I'm sure many of these people are fleeing crimes they committed, debt or other personal reasons to try make things better for themselves, this is not what international protection is for. We cant verify that though because they are unwilling to verify or share the most basic details about themselves.

Also, Many is not good enough. It should be all people who avail of International protection, ie Syrians or Ukrainians in legitimate danger. That is not the reality though.

nearly 150k per bed - I wonder who has the finger in that pie.

Not true. Many people seeking refuge are LGBTQ+ people and are doing so because they are being persecuted. The asylum system already allows for this and rightfully so.

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

Have we figures on this? Even pre 2022?

Can we stop using words like "many" also, because it really means nothing in the context of this debate.

In any case - those people(assuming their case is genuine) would fit into the category of genuine. However id like if the definition of persecuted was clarified.

Bang on, i think you hit the nail on the head about their advisor’s. Hundreds of them.

it’s institutional stupidity & ideology that’s causing everything.

And a good example of this is Look at the uk’s Agriculture policy. They have an huge population needs food everyday.

But they have introduced a new land stewardship scheme, basically paying farmers to not grow food.

But if farmers want financial help to grow food there’s no money for it!! What can be the outcome of a rising population & not growing food?

How does that make any sense.

What's the weird obsession with using the term many? Are you trying to pretend LGBTQ+ asylum seekers don't really exist or shouldn't exist?

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? Many is a subjective word to be fair, ten a year could be many to one person, 1,000 not many to someone else. Genuine figures/percentages are more helpful.

It seems to be a free for all, I'd imagine those figures don't exist to be fair. Checking the reason for asylum applications is probably seen as inappropriate.

But in some cases it cannot be varified or proved that individuals are actually members of the LGBT community or have actually been persecuted,

It shouldn't be too difficult to show you have had relationships with previous partners , communications and so on

Rumour is this new one is different. I think Cork Student Village is already being used to house refugees or Ukrainians

Oh dear, talk about getting the wrong end of the stick! Where did I say anything about restricting opinion anywhere and what is this "New Republic" that you assign to me? What are you on about!

Those who support or are neutral about the issue ARE members of the "cohorts" mentioned. Can you argue that they are not? I said nothing about anyone not having rights to speak did I? And I don't know what point you are making about democracy either. You might clarify.

I don't want to descend into a personal argument, I am not like that, but we have a problem here and it is getting serious now.

    Just saw this.

Im hoping the Govt is enforcing the RPZ increases on these particular landlords as it does on ordinary taxpayer landlords. What a fcuking joke this country has become. Unfortunately the last laugh is on the electorate who vote for these charlatans
