Yeah it’s been a full year now. Don’t know what the hold up is. The lack of communication from them is a disgrace.

Think the background checks are the most difficult to gather from talking to them plus maybe the batch you’re in and order or merit could be a factor

I’m not too sure ,pick up the phone and ring again.

Can anyone advise on the types of medications/illnesses that have caused them issues in the medical stage?

Contacted them a couple of days ago. They were very rude just said they will contact me! Nothing more nothing less. Absolute disgrace to drag it on so long and they are now giving offers to applicants in the 2023 campaign. You’d think they’d give answers to those waiting before they move on.

I don’t think the batch number or order of merit has anything to do with it. If it did I would have had an offer in the first group to Tempelmore last year! Seems to come back to vetting but I can’t see how mine would take so long and my local Garda station have said the same. I have asked for my file to be checked to see if it’s misplaced or sitting on someone’s desk somewhere but sure they won’t tell you a thing.

You said yourself in another post that you had a 'HUGE family' so there's your explanation.

    Hi

does anyone know when the next intake is

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13 dan90M

    @leheaven hopefully you get sorted

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 239 ✭✭leheaven

That’s not an explanation after 14 months though when majority of my family bar one all live in the same county and never abroad. My local station told me they had them all checked out too so they don’t know what the hold up is.

Has anyone who has been offered a place for the January intake received the letter and booklet from the Garda college yet ?

People who’ve received word about their interviews with their local station, how were you contacted? Email/text/phone call?

No word since PCT on sept 23rd and medical on 26th.

    Thanks

In the exact same boat as yourself. I contacted Garda HR a couple times over the past month. First time the person just said it’s fairly normal , second time I got one of the sound ones , who said it was weird it’s taken that long. From my understanding they send your local station the request and details to interview you. I’m assuming that this is often buried with higher priority stuff.

The person on the phone basically told me to go my local Garda station or call them and basically act kind of confused and just tell them the story, but not to let them know Garda HR told you to go to them.

I rang my local station and told them I’m a candidate to become a Garda Trainee. That I’ve passed the medical (Garda HR told me on the phone when I asked) , passed PCT and am was wondering if there was supposed to be an interview with the a sergeant, as I was told I would be contacted after passing the PCT.

They were fairly helpful and left a note for the Sargent. Whether they get back to me now is another thing, haha ( Called 2 days ago). If they don’t call back in 2 weeks I might drop them an email as I know the Gardai are a paper driven organisation.

I submitted mine 5 weeks ago today and still haven't heard anything. Called Appointments last week and they told me they are waiting on one or two suitability checks

Doesn't sound like your a million miles away, I'd say you will hear sooner rather than later.

Any tips for the fitness test? Have mine Friday 😖

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45 2023recruit

It's actually easy enough just rest now to friday and take plenty water. After the running. Just don't try be a hero and set the pace just keep with the flow and keep to the beeps don't go all guns blazing thinking ul sprint from start but if you pass beep it should be in the bag. Just a side note to you all if you pass fitness you do drugs test and that can go back up to 6 months so if you were on any prescription medication try remember cause they ask you incase it shows up

Still waiting myself. I got deferred because of my BMI and blood pressure. Got my BMI back down to normal and BP under control and sent a doctors letter to occupational health at the start of November and haven't heard anything back since. Was hoping to get an offer for January intake.

Give them a ring and or email. The vetting is the slowest part and it's different for everyone I had everything complete as did quite a few other and were hoping for Jan but my vetting still no done and they not exactly fast at there job. There is room for a overhaul on this as there is no communication and they leave everyone in limbo which is not fair some people even waiting years
