Why not? Business as usual once you have the right kit.

I have very fond memories of new years eve 2009 in Dublin. It really was special and so much fun playing with friends (with a few drinks) in the snow!

On Thursday there'll be a messy mix of graupel, sleet, snow showers coming on to the east coast. May be relevant for the evening rush.

I'd expect accumulations of snow on higher elevations in Dublin/Wicklow.

The annual compulsory 2010 recollection from sryanbruen.

This day in 2010 started it all here in Dublin. Airport main runway had closed. There was cracks of thunder overnight from the 26th. Of course I was fast asleep for it but woke up to a wonderland in Coolock.

One of my favourite synoptics of all-time and a proper northeasterly blast, my favourite wind direction.

It'll be nice to see some mountain snow on Friday if it accumulates overnight Thursday. Camera batteries are well and truly charged waiting.

The moonlight is just glorious. I would walk in it for hours.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth House?

Ice forming on the roofs of the cars and the roof of my extension for the first time this season in Cork City.

Full moon last night, truly stunning. I went for a run at 7am this morning guided by the moon.

Cool enough morning, 0C, with a touch of ground frost.

Just popping in to extend an invitation to all Boards weather forum regulars and Boards members in general, and on behalf of the regular weather contest entrants, to join us for the 2024 contest year. This is a good month to get started because we include seasonal components in addition to the annual contest running through the calendar year, also it looks interesting for trends now.

Thread is open for Dec 2023 contest elsewhere in the weather forum.

We welcome new and returning contest entrants, contests open around 28th of each month with a deadline for entries early on 1st of each month but you can enter a bit later with small penalties for late entries.

On Thursday/Friday (particularly overnight) I think expect 2 - 4cm of snow/graupel in Kildare/Laois. At the coast in Dublin almost all rain or graupel.

I think late Thursday evening could be problematic if you're heading home from work that direction down the M7.

In Wicklow there'll be a covering on high ground above 300 meters.

I did just that for a couple of hours last night.

Some light patchy dustings come Saturday morning on the latest GFS. Nothing to get excited about but sure we’ll see what happens.

Deep dive has been uploaded and its my favourite, also gives us met heads an idea even for Ireland what we can expect ahead, give it a watch it's half an hour but well worth it 👌

Could be a very big Aurora display sometime around Friday. High strength M-class (almost X) this evening, smack bang in the sweet spot of the sun for us. Seeing chatter of G3-G4 storms! Will be showers about but hopefully some clear skies. Moon not really in an ideal phase but if it goes G4, won't even matter! Earth will already be tingling with effects of at least three other CME's launched in recent days, due to arrive 30th/1st. This latest CME around the 1st.

Will know more in the coming hours when modelling tightens up predictions.

    Could be an epic one!

Some light rain showers now in Greystones coming onshore with a NE breeze. 5.9c atm.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,244 ✭✭✭✭Kermit.de.frog

The showers should be wintry by tomorrow morning. Mostly a mix of graupel/sleet I think but some flakes further inland and on higher ground.

Light cold rain shower here in Dublin 13 past few minutes.

What altitude (roughly) would the snowline be tomorrow morning in Dublin/Wicklow?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,433 ✭✭✭Dazler97

Low temperature warning ⚠️ for tomorrow night, Dublin,

    Screenshot_20231129_133647_Met ireann.jpg

Wexford, Waterford and Fermanagh aren't included

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,545 ✭✭✭Reckless Abandonment

The coastal counties I get but Fermanagh looks odd

The warning for the north is just for ice where they expect wintry showers to fall. Bits of Derry,Armagh, most of Tyrone not included in the warning either but if part of the county is included in the warning then M.E will include the entire county on their site as being in the warning area.
