Went to bed at 9pm last night and heard a bit of wind but nothing of note. Got up this morning to see my bin knocked over and my big planter upturned also. Did I miss a storm?!

No, probably just basil brush looking for his supper!

Yes it was very stormy here in NCD last night.

Would I be right in saying we are in for a "boring" period of weather? A lot drier than of late but not completely dry. Cool but not cold enough for sustained night frosts. Will still be showers and drizzle floating around from time to time?

Typical November day today, dull damp and mild. Dreary. At least it looks like a pattern change is likely with less rain.

I don't know what your getting with this, I'm confused 😐

A nice day for late Autumn once early morning drizzle cleared. A few sunny spells, a mild SW breeze and temperatures of around 13c - ideal for being outdoors. Got alot of work done today.

A miserable day in south county sligo with persistent rain very heavy at times and black as a bag!! Had the lights on this afternoon trying to do a bit of sewing.

Glad I'm going to Budapest early Wednesday morning for a few days to the Christmas markets. Hopefully will be cool and dry!!!

Far worse night tonight around here than last Sunday. Actually last night felt a lot windier also. Horrible wet miserable evening out.

Still not a single air frost in Dublin this season.

Had to wait until 21st November for the first air frost in 2021. This was the latest since 1989 (23rd November).

Looks like 2023 will beat 2021 and perhaps 1989 too.

Another great weekend in Reykjavik. Yesterday was very frosty too, giving a very seasonal feel. There was also a nice sunrise this morning but it's treacherous out because it rained last night and now it has frozen over in the last hour. Wednesday looks very windy but widespread snow showers are being forecast, it would be worth the hassle if it did snow here. The first image is from Saturday and the second one from yesterday.

Just seen the weather for the week ahead on met Office YouTube and the northerly winds are most likely gonna stay beyond Sunday (70% chance) which is rather high but also high confidence at this stage ,but for how long and how cold it will get is anyone's guess 😀

Maybe I am wrong but it feels like it has been very mild for a long time now. We are hardly turning on the heat until late in the evening.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth House?

Hopefully it lasts for all of December. Wishful thinking!. It will be great to have some crisp days and frosty nights . I am looking forward to the daily walk!

Oh it would be so good if that pulled off who knows, although I wonder if syran could help me on this ,when was the last time we had falling snow on Christmas day ,I know there was snow on the ground 2010 but that's lying snow ❄️ not falling

I think last Christmas there was brief back edge snow in parts, especially Leinster in the evening.

    Edit- yes was last Christmas.

Snow fell in Glennane, Co Armagh, and at Lough Fea in Co Derry.

Bit of a surprise here. Rain has stalled since the weekend. We're still at 171mm. I thought we'd easily pass 200mm. Surely July's 182mm is attainable?

Higher pressure till month end may scupper even that idea.

Dull, dreary damp rubbish today. I really want to enjoy the weather at this time of Yr but its really difficult getting this rubbish yr on yr now. Our climate just seems to be getting blander and blander which just kills the enthusiasm. Anyway hopefully the weekend will be drier brighter and cooler.

a very damp and cool day here in Meath but you couldn't call it rain, just misty dampness that really soaks the clothes while out on a walk. I would much prefer if we could get a strong area of high pressure sitting over us for at least a week with proper inversion leading to sub zero temperatures and very moody foggy landscapes persisting right through the day.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,738 ✭✭✭Billcarson

OK well the way the models are looking now does conjure up plenty of interest . Hopefully there won't be many days like today over the next while.......

Wow, what negativity from a poster who doesn't like negativity! On the contrary I'd be very positive about the current weather and am enjoying the stillness and break from Atlantic depressions. Would be happier if a few degrees cooler, but will take it.

It's a magical night in Reykjavik, after three poor days in a row (but the first truly poor days since October 20th), we hit the jackpot tonight! Yesterday was very windy with very frequent wintry showers and today was stormy with frequent graupel showers (I was woken up by them twice) and the odd snow shower but it started snowing heavily an hour ago with a strong wind creating blizzard-like conditions. The northern lights even appeared in a gap between snow showers, something that was on my bucket list. Excuse the snowman's lack of a face in the picture below!
