Tesla Model 3 - V3.0

This just popped up from nowhere last night. I'll try and charge it later to see what happens.

m3 drivers aren’t prepared to trade their cars like most normal ownership behaviour.

There’s been just under 4,000 new M3’s registered according to beepbeep, whereas there’s just 42 (1%) available on Carzone today - it’s a massively disproportionate ratio compared to any other make & model.

its still the same adage - “the best value M3 is a new one”. And that’s never been more true now that the highland is coming.

if you really want value in a Freemont M3 (effectively 2 major iterations/refreshes old now) you’d need to be paying mid 20’s at most, and owners would clearly prefer to hold on to them rather than sell at that price.

25-28k seems to be the lower price range for an SR+ with close to, or over, 100k km on the odometer? I'd imagine that a low mileage SR+ is still in the 29-32 margin, but that there might be people looking to do quick sales for less than that from time to time.

The dealership sticker prices are still from 29k for 100k km cars, which seems very high. Cheapest sub 50k km 192 SR+ is over 29k EUR, but would probably sell easy enough for 28k EUR. Add a grand or two for a 201 or 202 with 30-50k km on odometer, and another 4k for a LR equivalent.

Also worth considering 202 M3s that were delivered in Q4 2020 as these were 2021 refresh models from Fremont.

Thats what I like about my car.....all the goodness of the 21 refresh but still with the acceleration kick! 3 years on and I still thoroughly enjoy driving in it. Probably goes back to @sk8board's comment about low turnover of M3s.

Just bought a 221 Model 3, came from a BMW 530e, cannot believe how much I am enjoying driving it and how soon I got used to the tech. Just one question please; I used to get the BMW washed in a Circle K garage, never any problems and car looked great after, any reasons why I should not get the white model 3 washed there also, I feel it would do a good job on the glass roof, any thoughts would be welcome....

On the positive side, a white car doesn't show marks as much as a darker colour. Also easier to polish out a lot of scratches and marks as well.

Not sure how true it is but I was told by a Tesla sales guy at a test drive that the white and red have the most layers of paint. Think it's was 3 or 4 for the white and 4 or 5 for the red. He said all other colours only have two layers and will show up scratches much faster.

I had the car charging overnight from 2am-5am (EV Rate), it's only the second time I've charged it and on both occasions it took me about 5 mins for the light on the charge port to turn from blue to white so that i could remove the charger (Pulsar Wallbox tethered). When the light didn't turn from blue to white after alerting the car with my card I got into the car and acted as if i was going to drive it, I pressed the charging port on the screen while i was in the car. I was panicking a bit as i had to get to work and wasn't sure if it would open.

Should the charge port not turn from blue to white the moment I use my card to alert the car or is there normally a delay?

From the app or the screen, you should select 'Unlock Charge Port' and it will unlock instantly.

In summary they found that the MIC Tesla Model 3s had better paint than the early Freemont cars.

Also, they found that the Tesla Model 3s were equal in terms of quality and thickness when compared to BMWs, Mercs, and Audis.
