I was top 5 on the open and I got an email about clearance and vetting etc. The waiting continues since, but best of luck to everyone else on that panel. They’ll move through them I’m sure over the next while.

Very late panic mode over interview tomorrow....Can anyone advise about the presentation. It says to share the report and the slides does this mean that you can actually use the information from the report on the screen also as you go through presentation ?

You wouldn't share the report, the board will have that in front of them already, just the slides.

Thanks I was surprised cos it said in checklist to have them on device in order to share.

I did my interview and presentation today for the open competition. Very nerve wrecking!!!😅 the panel were super chilled out and pleasant. Hoping I’ve done enough to pass. Does anyone happen to know how long it normally takes to find out if you’ve passed? Cheers!

Fair play, sounds like it went well. Results usually about a week after the last interview for the batch, so usually each batch of interviews is either one or two weeks. Anyone else hear anything from the open panel for 2.2 by any chance?

Well done and best of luck with it!

The last time they went out they were calling people who scored above 127 on the shortlisting. Do you know what numbers they're calling now?

Hi all, I have been called for interview next month too. I obtained 115 in the second stage of the open competition.

Thank you all for your posts. They have been extremely helpful in navigating this process.

scored 94 - wasn't called for next month

Thanks for sharing. I scored 100 after shortlisting and also not called.

So they've called somewhere between 101-109 for the cutoff.

Not related to this comp but query anyway ..has anyone experience of requesting either informal/formal review of competition decision? Is it worth the effort etc? Thanks.

Just ask for informal section 7 review in a reply to whatever PAS email or mailbox you're dealing with. Ask for the Section 7 form while you're at it, so you can prepare a formal review applicatiion.

Hi all re the SAE surely specisifics in implementing the policy aren't possible if the 4 topics in no way relate to our career experiences to date? Is a more broad approach sufficient? I've been looking at PFG and hoping i get a topic that I can somehow link to my experiences.

    Hi all,

I didn't make it to interview stage on this competition but plan on applying again next time around. Can anyone give me some info on preparing the presentation? Such as what they are looking for/what's expected to be included, how much detail you need to go into, how long it should be, etc. You can PM me if you don't want to post here.

    Hi Swilly22,

You don't need to have topics that relate to your previous experience. You could be placed absolutely anywhere if appointed and need to be able to demonstrate that you could hit the ground running. In fact I think it is better to choose a topic that you have little or no experience of. You just need to examine and analyse the current policies in the area, come up with a couple of initiatives that would tie in with the PFG and state how you would go about implementing them, i.e. the procedure you would follow, who would be involved etc. It doesn't need minute detail but you do need to think it through to be able to answer questions on it. I think if you have previous experience of the topic it can take you down rabbit holes.

Do you know, since posting this today, I was thinking more about it & i totally agree. I was thinking about how if successful, I could be in any Dept and it would be a good exercise to pick & research a topic I dont know at all. I'm sure there will be major panic when the familiarisation comes through though! Thank you

Once you get the topics you will understand the connection and what they are looking for. Up to you how specific you want to go with it.

To narrow it down slightly further I'm 102 & not called.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24 Tony29

I emailed PAS, its scores of 108 or higher

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 42 EmbitterGlitter

Thanks! So close! Did they indicate that if they would be moving onto <108 anytime soon, or at all?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24 Tony29

yes they said they expect to bring a later batch of candidates to interview in January 2024

Results just out from interview on 10th. Do we know how quick they are moving?

I'd prefer to hang on for kildare but don't know when that's likely to start. Anyone here anything on that panel?

Results out for recent interview batch folks!! I’m genuinely in shock I passed :) does anyone have an idea how fast the merit list moves? Mine is for Dublin. Cheers, and best of luck to everyone else who’s waiting results.
