Just got an interview date, how likely is it to change these dates ? I'm out of the country so can't attend 🤦‍♀️ frustrating after waiting nearly 2 years

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24 Nedzer12

Just got an interview date to Stage 3 too, I somehow forgot that Stage 3 is the final stage! Also disappointing to hear it is on zoom and not face to face.

It's a bit less intimidating on zoom so wasn't too disappointed about it myself. Sadly they won't reschedule so that's me out of luck 🙈

Does the panel keep going until they draw down from a new panel?

I know there are probably lots of posts here about the interview, but I am really nervous about this one.

Any tips/pointers would be really appreciated!

Am I correct in thinking that this new AP competition is only Interdepartmental and NOT an open competition? Meaning that a person in the role of AP already (newly appointed), who'd like to possibly throw their hat in the ring just to try change departments would be excluded from this competition?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 777 ✭✭✭durthacht

No that's incorrect as the new APO competition is an Open competition.

... New panels from this 2024 Assistant Principal Officer Standard Open competition will be formed on a demand led basis and where 2022 panels are exhausted.

It's an open AP competition - but you can't apply if you're already an AP. Any AP that wants to change Departments would need to consider mobility.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 41 Sinradler

That's not correct - current APs are restricted from the Interdepartmental competition but anyone can enter the Open, as you can't be barred from a competition that is open to the public. People can and often do use open comps to get out of a department that isn't a good fit, for example.

Hi - any updates from PAS lately :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 38 DirectorKrennic

Oh wow, that's kinda wild/awesome. I know an AP who's not loving their department so maybe I should let them know!

Does anyone know if public jobs check for AI in the Strategic Analysis Exercise submission?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 92 ✭✭Sbibii121

I think I must be in one of the last batches. Did an interview today and wondered what has been the wait time for results.

If there's a single vacancy in a specific region outside of Dublin, is there a reason they would continue interviewing further candidates (Stage 3) for that order of merit when there are already candidates on the panel who completed Stage 3 last year and have confirmed their interest?

This is just my opinion..But from my reading of this thread to date, I think a number of people who applied to this comp (& made it onto panels) actually ended up turning down positions offered. I am involved in the boards thread regarding the 2024 AP Comp & there seems to be lots of familiar names from here on there also. I think this combined with a percentage of others like myself who didnt pass the interview stage may had led to less available candidates than originally expected. Perhaps this is why they continue to interview.. Just my thoughts! But yes I would agree that if they have people placed on panels outside Dublin, then positions will be offered in accordance with the order of merit. It's just that they may not have that many candidates on these specific panels which may be why they continue to interview...The 2024 comp has not commenced Stage 1 testing yet so it will be a good while before any candidates are placed from that.

I know they definitely have interviews still in the last two weeks of this month, so I am not expecting any results until a week or two after that. Just a guess though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 92 ✭✭Sbibii121

Just got results for recent interview, and placed 6th interd, so happy to even get on it. Now a waiting game for a vacancy. Any sense of how things are progressing with offers. It's quite right now with panel expiring in December.

    Got results today passed thankfully.

But I only got a oom for my second choice still haven't heard from Dublin where I placed this happen to anyone else

8 days for results of interview.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9 BRG298

Would it mean they are looking for a different type of candidate than the ones already qualified. It's my first time through the process so not clear on why they would continue interviewing for a small number of roles when theyalready have qualifies candidates who haven't been offered the role(s)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1 shipshape999

Hi, also recently passed the interview and placed 4 on open OOM. Is there any hope of an offer if panel expires at the end of Dec?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24 jimmy9999

Same here. Wondering the same. Placed 5th on Inter Departmental.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11 SamKB

Does it not seem odd to everyone that they would place us on a panel that they have exended only for 6 weeks (ending on 27th Dec), which means the panel will run out, and they have only just started their 2024 competition meaning they wont have a new panel in place when the 2022 runs out?

I was called for iinterview for this next week, there must be vacancies….

Do you mind me asking where you came in the OOM?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 69 ✭✭is that a button

I agree that this does seem odd.. Particularly as there does not appear to be much commenting here with regard to being offered positions or even invitations to complete clearance. Because they are still interviewing & with little movement on the panel, I wonder will they extend this comp out further.. Can they extend it again? ..I didn't pass the interview but I have just completed stage 1 testing for the 2024 comp. The test window closes tomorrow so it will be a while before results & invites to stage 2 are issued. If this comp isn't extended then I think there will be a huge delay between it closing & the first batch of 2024 comp candidates being panelled. Maybe there is minimal demand for AP's & they are in no hurry to appoint...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 35 Flappidyflap

I just got notified that this is extended to 28/02/24. Was at pre-clearance checks stage for Kildare... Well didn't get as far as to see where offer was for as I've come off another panel as AP in the mean time.

Seemed odd to me the original end date of this panel..usually where I am internally panels remain in place for 2 years from 1st appointment. Which must have been in 2023 by time this competition went past the aptitude tests stage.

Just re the Strategic Analysis Exercise and presentation. when presenting are you allowed to have notes to read from in front of you? TIA

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 69 ✭✭is that a button

Yes, I used notes. However I would advise to only use them for prompt purposes as you are supposed to be giving a presentation. I focused on talking & maintaining eye contact with the camera as you would deliver a presentation to a live audience. I only used the slides as references & to highlight certain points. This gave more of a natural flow as opposed to just reading from a page. I passed the presentation 😊.. but lost by 5 points on 1 competency in interview 😢. Best of Luck with your presentation!! 👍

Did people have a references section in report?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11 rainyday2020

Has many people been promoted from this competition lately?

I believe that there are still requests for Dublin positions logged with PAS and hopefully a few odd regional ones. I passed the interview stage over a year ago and in that time I have only moved up one position in my region (where there are a good few CS Departments). In that same time they have filled over 270 positions in Dublin. PAS is very good at providing information. Every time I ask for updates on my regional panel they say that no Dept's have registered a need with them. They actually stopped adding any names to my regional panel since batch 1.2

Hi all, new to this process! Did anyone get called in the recent batch post interview in October? It’s been extended until 28/02 but I only got placed on one panel (Kildare) did anyone get placed on Dublin or Wicklow? Thanking you in advance

I'm in the top 10 on the InterD panel for Dublin from that batch, and have just entered into the clearance process for a Dublin position.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6 LaydeeLuck

Just wondering has anyone here been placed on a panel for either Galway or Westmeath?

And also.. Has anyone from this competition been appointed to an actual AP position in either of these two locations?

...I've entered the 2024 AP competition & I'm just wondering about the odds of actually getting assigned. It seems the majority of posts here were located in Dublin...

well done - wishing you every success!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11 bettyboo13

I dont think PAS will call any more batches, this panel closes end of Feb. I asked them beginning of Dec what score had they called for Dublin and they said 911 or higher score. I scored 908.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9 BRG298

If you have received the 'you are under consideration...' mail and asked to submit references etc does that mean a post will definitely be offered provided references etc are all in order? Or should it be taken literally in that they may still decide not to make the offer regardless?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55 ✭✭Galantis

Yeah can't see there being any more batches with the new competition coming online.

If you have received a under consideration message, there is a post for you.

Just got a message about proceeding to Stage 2

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11 bettyboo13

What score did you get in stage 1?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 115 ✭✭okdune

1751 in First stage and 139/150 in message today for 2nd stage.

Could someone tell me what this means? First time I’ve done this and I don’t understand the process.

    Dublin and Wicklow

Congratulations! It looks like you have now passed Stage 2 of the comp which was shortlisting based on your application form. My understanding is that you will now proceed to Stage 3 which is Interview & Presentation. I'm not 100% on this so someone else on here may be able to confirm.. but it is my understanding that you will only be called to interview if a position becomes available in your chosen county. However given that this comp is due to expire at the end of Feb & they are still shortlisting, there may be vacancies available so you could be lucky! 🍀

Hey thank @is that a button :) Honestly I have felt so blind in this process!

I wonder if it’s based on my application of the role would be applicable to my background? Let’s see.

Do they call? Or Email? Or just another message from the ether ??
