are RyanAir taking the pee with summer prices for 2024, lanza just shy of 2200 for 3 with luggage, cant see many pulling the trigger at those prices, any other routes with significant rises, you'd think they'd be dead keen to fill the regional airport slots but seems not, Dublin leading the way with pricing again

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,536 ✭✭✭JamesBond2010

That could mean they are also booked out and want you to go from dublin or cork, thats why the price could be so high.

.... but some of the prices for Sept/Oct 2024 are just ridicoulous - especially on some of the timings. 2000hr departures to Teneriffe -landing at 0100hr in the morning and a I am getting fares of €700 for 2 with cabin baggage- 12 months in advance!. Hard to believe there would be a demand for such a flight. There must be an 'agenda' in Ryanair on the Regional fares. Hard to athom how DUB can be so cheaper especially when they are always moaning about pulling flights out of there....

no checked very few seats booked , knock same crazy prices, thoughts of heading to Dublin not filling me with Glee

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,232 ✭✭✭waterwelly

That works out about €175 for a 4 hour flight including a 10kg bag.

I don't think there's a lot wrong with that price, times not great I'll admit.

I had a quick look on budget travel and on August 21st 2024 it's under €2300 for 2 adults and 2 kids, flight and accomodation for a week.

On other dates it varies up to €2800.

    Keep researching I suppose.

I would question if you were getting the best fare for Sept/Oct next year by booking now. I suspect they make bank with early birds in situations like this.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,542 ✭✭✭Masala

Starting to question same...... Last Year I booked 12 months in advance and got the same booking details (dates and timings) for €525. Would have expected that I would get the 'early-booking' deal of similar value but am getting quoted at over €700 seems to be just flying a kite and see who will bite etc.

Think I will let it sit out til after Xmas (accommodation is on -24hr cancellation) so nothing in stone as to where we go next year.

was e1500 last year for 3 of us with 20kg bags each (my 2 ladies dont travel light) have paid 1200 with bags for 4 of us before, good deal from dublin with bags just seems odd so much dearer for SNN we'll be keeping an eye

I know families in particular often can't plan last minute but you can get some great deals if you leave it til early August to book a holiday for last week on August when they're trying to offload remaining packages. We got a week on Salou from Bydget Travel for 299 each (flights and accommodation) booking just 2 weeks ahead. Granted, an extra 100 for the luggage but still a good deal.

Dublin will always be cheaper, I've often seen flights going to the same destination at the same time and returning the same time for €500+ cheaper.

Fuel, car parking , time spent travelling to airport/in airport all part of calculation. Those factors normally have me in Shannon

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,179 ✭✭✭BobMc

same, but DUB is e700 less for our dates compared to SNN, never actually got a holiday flight from dublin in my life, business trips alright but holidays never

    Flights up for ryanair.

Got sorted. Knock girona return for 2 adults 2 kids for 1300. Great times and location for us. Delighted.

Does anyone know if there will be new routes for summer 2024?

Shannon is expected to hit 1.9 million passengers this year. The 2 million mark would definitely be hit next year with Delta Returning and Ryanair have added a few more flights for Summer 2024. Las Palmas is now year round.

There will definitely be new routes.

There will definitely be routes discontinued too.

    Nobody knows.

It's just what's always happened in the past, likely to continue happening. Routes come, routes go.

In 15 years watching I think even when contracting something like this has happened each year.

So when things appear to be growing I'd be confident the same will happen.

Predicting where is very difficult though

I flew to Lanzarote a couple of times and to Fuerteventura too ex SNN with Ryanair in the last couple of years.

The fares were always very close to or better than those available from Dublin for the same dates.

Girona route populated now, fares do look expensive

Edinburgh showing as just twice/three times weekly next summer. Do people think this is an incomplete schedule or that things will go this low. At Easter it is 4 times per week.

Could still be a work in progress. Ryanair didn't announced their summer schedule for Shannon until mid december last year

Also a case of waiting to see how their deliveries from Boeing arrive.

    Surprised FAO isnt on sale

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,477 ✭✭✭highlydebased

Quite a bit of their ex Portugal schedule is not on sale generally yet. Lots of People asking about it on Twitter

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,477 ✭✭✭highlydebased

Fees dispute in Portugal would explain the delay. Would presume FAO wouldn't be dropped given its popularity! None of SNN/KIR/NOC to FAO loaded currently

I booked a flight for a week in The Canaries recently. Fare was about €210 incl. ex Snn. and includes 2 bags, priority boarding and allocated seating. A belt and braces fare is cheaper still - about €130.

Moral of it is be flexible and you'll get great value.
