He was going to call himself Ryan To Bridie for the purposes of this event...

I was talking to a 20odd year old lately who had come across Freedom station on the car radio.

This is a lady who never usually listens to radio and definitely not 2fm.

Her opinion is Freedom plays great music..the presenters don't chatter on talking $hite..

2FM is just not optimised for the market which it is supposed to target. And it never will.

Not surprising. Bar a very controlled situation where he himself is the MC, I can't see how he can put himself in any kind of interview situation where it's highly probable "the unpleasantness" might be brought up.

Most disgraced conmen like Tubs head to England at this stage. Sadly for the Toyman, no one in UK media is going to offer him a job.

Yeah I was wondering about his “being interviewed” at that gig- I’d imagine though it would have been a very soft interview with questions planned out in advance- mad to do it otherwise.

Id say a lot of disappointed people who brought tickets just because he’d be there -the RT ladies fan club 🤪 wonder what the specific reason is but he’s doing no favours to anyone including himself behaving this way.

I'll make a stab in the dark and say it could possibly be that the pre-planned questions weren't to his liking or the interviewer refused to provide him with a list of pre-planned questions in the first place.

Tubridy has form in this respect. I mentioned in a previous post that a prospective guest on the Late Late Show was phoned up by an RTE researcher and was asked to provide a bulletpoint list of topics he wanted to talk about, "for Ryan's approval"

Apparently Tubridy NEVER went into any interview without an explicit understanding that everyone was sticking to a pre-ordained script.

It's very possible the 20 tonne elephant in the room was going to be mentioned and the Toyman threw his toys out of the pram. 😁

I just hope the event organisers didn't pay his appearance fee in advance!

The press are doing to TLLS what they did to UTV Ireland it is bizarre to see, it won't really work in the same manner as it did with UTV Ireland (whom were doing just as well as TV3 at the time, their big mistake was pumping money into NEWS rather then leaning on their Radio stations for that content).

There is an interesting bit in the small print in today's news story about Nikki Hayes that's nothing to do with what's before the court, she owes RTE money 🤔 she ceased working for them 13 years ago 🤔 https://www.rte.ie/news/courts/2023/1025/1412950-nikki-hayes/

If I were taking that question and I will try to as elequent/tub-esque as possible: -

"Of course its a huge disappointed. I can see Kevin's point of view but it was a huge disappoint to me personally. We had a good talk and that door is still open to both myself and RTÉ. But for the time being, I have to set that aside as I look to my future... and what does the future hold... well I have a few plans upcoming but for the moment I will rest, I will be the first Christmas where I am not the Toy Man so that will be a great release and I wish Patrick Keilty the best in that role, he's been fantastic as the new host and even I was feeling the pressure of the horrible Tam Ratings always watching over my shoulder knowing that really times have changed and TLLS was always going to see a slow drop in audience levels, its a big job but I think he is up to the task... were would I like to be ... look, my preference would be to be back on the Radio right now and that is something I am working towards for the new year .... and what do I think of RTÉ management... I feel let down and I regret not being more assertive on what was release to the public... I too let the public down and know I can bring that back around ... but as for RTÉ that now for RTÉ and their management team to sort out, I wish them the best with that work which will be particularly difficult."

Am I wrong to think that RTÉ was asked if anybody had loan with the company?

Have you ever considered taking a loan from your employer? (Directed at everyone here, not just you Micheal Varadkar, but I'd say you are loaning money out to FF/FG people left right and centre 😂)

It maybe the RTE Credit Union, which it different from RTE itself.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,488 ✭✭✭RoTelly

RTÉ would want to make that clear in their report.

Mr Spencer said that O’Keeffe was in debt to the tune of €53,000 at the time of the offence, owing money to RTÉ and to various institutions in personal loans.

It would look bad for RTÉ if they had a large number of staff and contractors availing of loans from RTÉ.

Loans from Employer's have BIK at 13% on them, could have been more back them. So is more lightly a RTE Credit Union loan.

In saying that this is RTE so anything is possible.

I see contractors can also join:

Found it myself too, hand for the 5 minutes on the hour that other stations use for adds and repeating the same old news. Pity it going offline in a week to be replaced by some form of online app broadcast.

Does IAC stand for I'm A Crap-presenter-with shadowy-financial-dealings? Because tubridy is nowhere near a celebrity for a UK audience

Apparently Tubridy NEVER went into any interview without an explicit understanding that everyone was sticking to a pre-ordained script.

And that's partly why he was so bad at his job. He was neither well-read enough nor intelligent enough to handle anything coming at him left of field. That and the lack of interest or understanding he had of the world outside his own privileged bubble.

...fundamentally it'll be us the taxpayer will have to bail them out.

That's the thing. It never ceases to amaze me just how much abuse Paddy can take - If this were France, Montrosia would be a smoldering wasteland by now - but no, in Ireland, Paddy bends over and gets ridden into the sunset...and then offers to pay for the lube. When asked why...Paddy replies - "ahh butsurelookit..."

There's still a shocking amount of the NKM superstars (that everyone can't live without) infesting the airwaves atm. I can only hope that these contracts/shows were signed off on before before the disgraced RTE presenter Ryan Tubridy was caught with his hands in the cookie jar...because if they were approved post the scandal, then Kevin B is as bad as Forbes

Serious amount of bitterness, nastiness and vulgarity in that post.

    Perhaps have a look inwards.

I've had a look inwards thanks - it's all good

Run along now and stop annoying the non-FG voters, there's a good lad

Genuinely feel sorry for her. A rotten place to find yourself in; hopefully brighter days ahead for her; I imagine a suspended sentence or / and community service will be the worst she’ll face.

He's already been confirmed as not doing "I'm a Celebrity" on some headline I skimmed past yesterday for evoke or similar. I imagine he was never in the running (as someone else said, who in the UK would know or care, bar some eagle-eared Chris Evans radio show listeners). More handy articles to churn out to keep his name afloat till "the big podcast" surfaces (or doesn't!).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60 ✭✭Micheal Varadkar

All these daily clickbate headlines about Tubridy which are put out there by Noel Kelly are sickening... Here is the truth, Tubridy has had only one real job offer, from Ireland's Classic Hits Radio (formally 4fm) but Tubs considers that Radio station to be beneath him, plus he'd actually have to do a bit of hard work on that station because unlike RTE, there aren't large or even small background teams working on shows. Tubridy's big plan is to do a Marty Whelan, e.g slowly make a comeback on RTE Radio, do a 6 part series on Lyric about Frank Sinatra, then a 6 part series on Radio 1 about The Beatles which hopefully leads to cover work on Lyric, then cover work on Radio 1, then a permanent weekend show followed by a 5 days a week show.

Looking at our new society, Paddy really seems to have developed a fetish.

Indeed. My belief is he has no intention of doing anything beyond speaking engagements, maybe a book and the like until the storm has sufficiently blown over to allow him back on RTE radio in some capacity. From there he intends to slowly work his way back to a primetime slot.

Tubridy knows very well that practically any other employer will mean an instant bumpy crash for him into the real world, where he will actually have to justify his salary and will have to do some work for a living, perish the thought!

He just wants to get back to the bosom of RTE where he can command 200k minimum. As many have said here, it was always the RTE primetime slot that guaranteed the listenership not his ability and working for the state broadcaster ensures a locked in audience for whoever sits at the mic. If Tubridy actually took up a 9am slot with any other commercial station, I couldn't see his listener figures being anything other than horrendous.
