That seems about right with a standard watercool and not custom cooling. They generally are designed to run hot but are limited to run cooler than the non 3d variants because the 3d variant cannot take as much heat. If you don't have exotic cooling I wouldn't be worried about it.

In a bind atm. Anywhere in Dublin where I get 120mm pwm case fans?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,084 ✭✭✭✭K.O.Kiki

Not that I can think of.

Easier to just sign up for an Amazon Prime trial and get them delivered by Monday/Tuesday.

Or find some on Adverts.ie/Donedeal/Facebook Marketplace.

    Currys might have those fans

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,238 ✭✭✭ironictoaster

Thanks all, got sorted. Amazon prime delivers on Sunday! I needed new fans. I swapped out my H9 flow case to the fractal design north case. The case was far too big from my desk and I cannot be arsed with rgb and controller boxes anymore, everything controlled by the motherboard

Having issues with a 5? year old logitech GPro Keyboard. Double entry of key strokes, or sometimes not registering. Among other pproblems like abilsmal keycap quality. Honestly I like the romer G switch, but the caps are rubbish and break so easily.

Looking for a recommendation on a TKL keyboard to try pick up around Black Friday. TKL as desk space is quite limited. Not too fussed on brand, would like to go with a more robust brand of switch like cherry but open to suggestions. And I quite like MX Brown switches!

    I'd recommend Keychron or Epomaker.

I particularly like their 75% layout

    Perfect for browsing & gaming.

These compact layout things drive me mad. "let's go back to the days before ergonomics and give ourselves carpal tunnel, it's worth it because you can get anime key caps"

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,455 ✭✭✭jebidiah

KB I had before the Logitech was a cheap enough compact yoke. Think it might have been even a 60% Redragon board with blue switches. It was fine, but I really, really like the TKL size and layout.

My housemate has an amazing Cooler master Master Keys S with MX Browns and it's a joy to type on.

Think I'd also like something with like the bottom of the key/switch exposed? To make cleaning easier? Or maybe a better switch won't just break when cleaning like the Logitech?

I like the look of the Keychron, they have a decent looking design

To each their own I guess? I just need a small KB for my small desk. Don't work at this desk so I don't need a numpad.

I don't see how a TKL is any more or less Ergo than a standard KB?

    I also don't like anime 😅

Ah, then you'll want a "floating" top plate design like GMMK TKL, Razer Blackwidow Lite, SteelSeries Apex or HyperX Alloy Origins (among name brands).

This 75% layout is the same as full-size, it just removes the numpad so you can have more mouse space; and the right side focuses on browsing with Home, PgUp/PgDown, End in a logical column.

Plus a volume wheel so you can quickly adjust your... YouTube videos.

How about a Nintendo inspired 8 Bit Do keyboard 🤔

You think that's a rational choice? As I said the driver for this was the key caps on the Romer G switches. I can't even give that keyboard a gentle wipe or dust without risking a keycap coming off and the retaining pin breaking.

I love the aesthetic of the GPro with the "recessed" keys and minimal light bleed. So if a more robust key switch and cap design will hold up to a regular cleaning and dusting I'd be willing to look at that kind of design!

I don't think I've ever heard of keycaps falling off or MX-stem breaking from normal use or cleaning.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,322 ✭✭✭✭TitianGerm

Oh it can happen, especially with custom keycaps. It usually happens when the moulding doesn't take right and leaves a weak point on the stem.

Cool! I'll keep my eyes open for something on BF. I am quite tempted by this though!

I've not seen that either tbh.

@jebidiah - TKL is the sweet spot for me in terms of needing a keyboard for work and gaming, if it was just for gaming you can go smaller although the smaller you go the more key combinations you need to remember to access missing features like the function keys etc. However I wouldn't buy a keyboard based on how easy it is to clean, most decent ones these days should come with a dust cover and keycap puller. So on the assumption you're not eating your breakfast over it then just put on the dust cover when it's not in use and you'll barely need to clean it. The keycaps are super easy to remove if you do need to get under them. 🙂

Epomaker is a decent place to start looking as @K.O.Kiki mentions.

I've used a royal kludge wireless for the last year, actually really like it.

My god the used market for GPUs is ridiculous 😑 people selling pre owned stuff for new money

I picked up a Steelseries Apex 7 TKL with Brown switches for just over 33% off. €118 delivered from Amazon. Happy out.

An odd request from a friend, he wants a new gaming PC. But thinks he can get one on payment plan (our mate got an NZXT BLD in the states years ago and is always saying how amazing a deal it was).

Are there any options like that in the EU for prebuilts?

Personally I told him to get a loan or save and build himself/Ill build it for him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 158 ✭✭warrior00

There are places in UK and Germany and other European countries that off a payment plan but they are usually just for people from each country.

We have a small population so I'm not sure if there are any places that offer such a service here.

As you said getting a small loan from bank or credit union is much the same thing as getting a payment plan.

No wonder so many ads have been up for so long. Ridiculous prices, some ads are reasonably priced but most are not realistic at all and are priced at literally RRP for a brand new one.

Every card I've looked at on Adverts I can get for cheaper from CEX with a two year warranty.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 158 ✭✭warrior00

I went looking at DDR5 on there and someone has RAM I'm interested in but it is at a set price of €150. I googled it and you can buy it new for the same price. It's worth about €100-110 as it is used.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 618 ✭✭✭Coyler

Adverts really need to go back to paying to post ads and the ads expiring at a much more aggressive rate. I can find right now dozens and possibly hundreds of items that are months old now and where the older retracted bids now exceed the revised down asking price. These Hail Mary ads need to be a thing of the past or at the very least the barrier to entry increased.

Adverts also need to allow people search the sold ads again. It's obvious now that buyers are using CEX cash/voucher price as a guide now.

Did anyone ever work out what the situation is with Scan now/recently? There seemed to be some talk before that they might actually ship here with a bit of rigmarole. I presume they won't ship to a reshipper like addresspal/parcelmotel? Unbelievably I've looked at what it would cost to go over to collect an order and given they at least claim to have stock of something I can't find in stock anywhere else yet I'm not ruling that madness out!

I'm not trying to buy a founders card BTW ;)
