I thought it was the 19" Goodyear's that were splitting. Either way it's good to get a new set unexpectedly.

Totally completely and absolutely disagree with e-uo statement. They are a fabulous little thing utterly unpretentious an just as well screwed together as any Volkswagen adequately quick superb ride for the size of it the whole "connectedness" is pretty basic and th UI is wait for it......Buttons exceeds quoted range all the time.I like mine at least as much as the ID

Sorry, I’ve tried to read through that comment but can’t make sense of it, don’t remember mentioning anything about pretentious/unpretentious or build quality / how things are screwed together. You lost me on the typos, punctuation, e-uo and UI stuff. Apologies.

Nope Twas Goodyears. Happened to us. Bloody lucky we didn’t have a bad accident. Tyre blew out on motorway.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,090 ✭✭✭✭CoBo55

It was too🫣. Did you get anywhere in getting a replacement under warranty? Probably not being Ireland.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,061 ✭✭✭✭fits

Nope. The other two were replaced alright but no refund for the first two replaced after the blowout.

My four Goodyears are getting replaced next week as part of a recall due to sidewall splitting. Will have the car three years next week, all free of charge.

Goodyears were splitting, Bridgestones were just shyte.

😆 Straight to the point and no messing 💥. Are the Continentals ok? That's what came on the Born.

    Evening all.

Has anyone gotten wind deflectors for the ID.3? If they have, can you share which ones.

Also, I got the OBDeleven dongle the other day. Ran the diagnostics, and it came back with 13 errors! The car is only 4 weeks old! Anyways, you think it'd be ok to clear them? Would the dealer know I've been fiddling and mess up my warranty?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 680 ✭✭✭adunis

Yes clear the "errors" and the next time you check it will be the same as would any other car no dealer won't know any different.

There seems to be this misconception that diagnostics in general will come back and say "hello it's me,I'm your XYZ whatever and I'm defective" the reality couldn't be further from the truth even with dedicated OE diags.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,090 ✭✭✭✭CoBo55

I had loads as well I cleared them off. Did you change anything? I tried entering various controllers but couldn't, I got the controller not responding message so I just left it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,125 ✭✭✭Soarer

I've changed one or two things, but I ran the diagnostics before I did anything. It was the first thing I did when I got the dongle!

Will clear them so and wait for the explosion!

Any takers for the wind deflectors? Much rather have the windows down a bit than running the a/c.

Just to reply to the various comments on efficiencies and quoted GOM ranges.

As an experiment I did a spin for 15kms or so and deliberately kept my average speed achieved to 55kph. My resultant efficiency was 8.4km/kWh(about 12kWh/100km. Impressive you might say and the range on 100% charge will be well over 400kms. Some clarifying observations might help..............

1.55kph average speed is actually very slow on most roads unless you are driving around the city. 2. Driving on the open road (80/100kph) speed limits and driving to these speed limits your average speed will be much higher at say 70 to 80 kph depending on time of day traffic levels etc. 3. At these higher average speeds the efficiency achieved will be a lot less due to exponentially increased drag forces (proportional to velocity squared) at perhaps around 6km/kWh or so. 4. It is possible to get over 400kms range (58kWh battery) but ONLY if you maintain the (slow) average speed of 55kph for the entire 400 km trip AND assuming that weather/road/elevation conditions are very benign. 5. GOM range reflects past history efficiency achieved at a particular average speed under specific weather conditions and is a poor predictor of future range unless you manage to replicate the same journey at the same average speed with the same weather conditions. 6. So if you want to predict what range you are likely to have you have to ask yourself 1st what average speed you want to achieve- and of course traffic and weather conditions depending.

As a follow-up to a previous post I made I traded my ID3 (211) earlier in the year for a new Cupra Born. The part exchange for my ID3 was close to 33k euros. At the time the ID3 was then listed for resale for 38k euros. During this week I have seen the car now listed for 33k asking - a 5k drop in 6 months. I wonder if 2nd hand ID3's are going to drop further in price given that a lot of 3 Yr old cars will be coming onto the market from now on?

Apparently I need a front driver side drop link.

Would that be a warranty job or just wear & tear?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,061 ✭✭✭✭fits

I’d say that’s likely. I’m also fairly sure our next car will be used to take advantage of those better prices.

    Sounds painful😁.

    'Physician, heal thyself'.

Joking aside, I would be surprised if VW don't consider that normal wear and tear, but worth chancing it..

Yeah figured I'd try. Need to book in for the battery recall job so I'll ask.

If not it won't be a big deal, part is cheap enough and the next door neighbour is a mechanic.

Not sure it helps but I had a driver side top strut mount replaced under warranty. Suspension parts should be good for at least 3 years (warranty period) under normal use.

Mine has 91k on it and has developed a rattle on front passenger side, think its prob a suspension issue. But I'm guessing im out of warranty anyone able to say for definite?

    TIA

Sounds like you traded just in time. Further drops likely as supply has finally caught up with demand. Used stock now coming in from the UK could dent residuals further. More than 200 used ID.3’s listed on DoneDeal at the minute.

Our air con seems to have stopped working all of a sudden. Was fine in France a few weeks ago. Not sure if it will be covered under warranty either.

we have the car two years this week.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 369 ✭✭Ev fan

If I am reading this right you are showing a low average speed of 26km/hrs corresponding to your impressive efficiency of nearly 8km/kWh - my experience of the M50 is that to keep up with the traffic you need to be doing at least 80kph if not 90kph. This would suggest you are doing a lot more city driving over M50 driving or am I missing something. You are right about range anxiety- isn't a big issue in a small country. I fairly routinely do a return Sligo/Dublin trip and I destination charge at my friend's house overnight. I would say though that we could do with a big charging hub somewhere on the middle of the route- e.g something like the new esb installation in Tipperary with 4 chargers capable of charging 8 cars at a time..................especially as EVs are getting a lot more popular on the road

    How old is it?

The warranty is 2yrs unlimited mileage or 3yrs limited to 90k km’s so if it’s less that 2yrs old you are still in warranty.

They might play hard ball and say you hit pot holes and hence not covered but worth asking anyway.

Its a 212, so as I thought its out! I have a local Indy prob just get him to put it up on his lift and check it out, Thanks for the clarification!

Should be covered under warranty but if it’s physically damaged they’ll want you yo pick up the tab. (Condenser can often get punctured by a small stone entering through a grille or opening in the front bumper)
