Cripes. New moon as well so super high tides.

I won’t forget storm Ellen in a hurry. A tree fell narrowly missing our house. Frightening.

    Lightning off Ballycotton

Just had our first bit of thunder and lightning in East Cork. Brief power cut too.

Almost 40mm in the past 5 hours alone at Cork Airport. Daily total on 48.1mm so far provided the hourly totals are accurate and there's no corrections like with Dublin Airport 2 weeks ago with Antoni.

Official stations highest rainfall total up to 6pm today

    Clonakilty 46.2mm

    Dunmanway 45.6mm

    Inishcarra 42.1mm

Edit - Cork airport isn’t listed on WOW so I didn’t see that

100% believe it, so much surface water in places you’d never see it.

It’s kind of brightened up here in cork city or maybe it’s not and it was so dark for a few hours. Rain is still bucketing down.

Winds continuing to pick up here in Ballincollig, and rainfall has increased again as well. Now getting 10+mm per hour. 36.8mm total rainfall so far. Thunder audible in the distance, and the lightning tracker on my smartwatch is flashing like it's having a seizure!

Good luck trying to figure me out. I haven't managed that myself yet!

Amazed the races in tramore are still on, camera fella up in a boom in this wind and rain, just waiting for a clap of thunder and lightning and they might let him come down !

Would I be completely nuts to put the red glass bin out as it’s meant to he collected tomorrow morning ?

Just went from Rathdrum to Arklow and back, starting to flood in places and the heaviest rain (according to Met Eireann hourly forecast) doesn't even start for another hour yet. Winds starting to pick up here too but still relatively light.

Looks fantastic on the visible satellite. Almost as if there is an active major thunderstorm in the cloud head at present.

Just home from work near Cork city, unreal floods and surface flooding, thankfully most drivers taking it easy. It's still bucketing down, flooding is definitely going to be a problem, waiting now for the wind to start,at least it's Friday night ,an excuse to open a bottle and take to the couch. ☺️

Cancelled Netflix back in May. Just gave up and started it up again as kids going mental. It’s absolutely wild out here in Carlow. You’d nearly light a fire only its 23C in the house.

Max gust of 69km/h at my station in Waterford City. Should be relatively accurate as we are exposed to South or South East winds.

North Wicklow. Lashing and dark. Hate this kind of weather. We really haven't had stormy weather for a long time.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,835 ✭✭✭appledrop

Eh we had this weather for the whole of July in Dublin.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,136 ✭✭✭Rebelbrowser

Only drizzling now with no wind in Skib. 20 solid hours of heavy stuff before that. Calm before the real storm?

That's some amount of rain being predicted into Saturday by the ECM, much of that having fallen in the South by 06.00

Again seems to be switching the strongest winds more offshore and along the coastal edges although Waterford, Wexford could get a good clip.
