Just paid €12 customs on 5 new rbg leads from retroupgrades. Excited to see the difference they make to some of my older cables

Just about to order a hydra2 aswell. Sold a pinball and already replaced it, so a few upgrades all round i think.

Hydra 2 ordered, so heres the setup

    VHS

    Laserdisc

    Megadrive / mega cd

    Ntsc snes

    GameCube

    PlayStation 2

N64 ( no good cable yet but have it on the way )

    OG xbox

All into the hydra 2, then that into the 32" 3:4 grundig and the widescreen sony

Also got given a free 50" lg tv today. Hopefully getting it dropped down to me in the next few days. Ill mount that on the wall and have the ps3/4 and 360 into it.

Then just finding time to play everything is the hard part

The hydra has a composite in too actually. You might get away with running the VHS through that via some RCA cables as it's composite only and then free up another slot for an RGB console :)

Must get myself a Hydra2 and set it up on a retrotink. That's if I can fit my consoles in the new house!

A RGB nes is the only other thing id be after. Need to get nes2 or can an original one be modded?

It's some combination! Bit of an investment but totally worth it.

Switch any console on and it just pops up on the TV with all your Retrotink shaders and nice bits enabled.

Yup, the front loader NES can have the RGB board added

Picked up a complete namco arcade force feedback steering wheel panel on Yahoo Auctions Japan. It's compatible with all mid 90's namco twin racers

The panel is 100% complete with everything from the wheel (with perfectly intact badge), the motor, the ffb control board and the transformer etc. Everything to simply drop into the cab and swap out the original spring loaded wheel panel.

All for just €60 on yahoo auctions japan.

Delighted with myself until the shipping options came in. No option for cheap surface mail for this one. Apparently since it's over 20 KG (50KG+ volumetric) the only option is for dhl airmail for €370!

Thing ended up costing more than the cab itself. That is just for one.... and they are holding a 2nd one for me!

It's been like that for years now ,win a bargain only for the shipping to make it about break even on costs or worse. The last set of stools I got cost a good bit more than any others I've got or bought over the years and mainly due to over inflated shipping ... At least it should be nicely packed if nothing else ..Who are you using? Not many deal with large items and some are very expensive when they do as they only use couriers and what's worse is tax is calculated on shipping fee as well 😫 . I Had to get some bits separated and dumped last year as they couldn't be shipped, return from Tokyo shipping office 🙄

I've all but given up on it (yaj) the last few years, too costly and too many shills these days, even before you start competing against all the rest of us Westerners... And there is nowhere near as many stuff like the 10's of thousands of games /parts or accessory's that used to be listed 😔

Its a bit of a joke alright. Used buyee for laserdiscs the start of the year myself.

They say they pay all the domestic shipping but just give you a total so who knows how much it actually is.

Duties on stuff when they arrive too is stupid. Always more than it should be and filing a claim is painstakingly annoying so usually ends up not being worth it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,986 ✭✭✭Inviere

Particularly annoying on small stuff where the An Post admin fee is higher than the charge they're collecting. But yeah, those Forwarding companies tend to lose the value when it comes time for shipping

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,924 ✭✭✭geotrig

you can normally see or get a very good gauge for what charges for the domestic shipping charges will be as most do have them listed in the page ,some of the proxy's pages dont pick this up or show it on their pages but it is there. I also think one of the crowds left may upgrade the domestic shipping for some better options but it isnt much of a difference normally....also worth noting the fees are to be fair really small for the service they are offering in general.

It has been great value using surface mail up to now. I've got sharp x68000, fm towns marty, loads of naomi panels, various arcade parts, fully working sega lindbergh for less than you would pay for a lindbergh graphics card on ebay.

The surface mail option is cheap but it usually takes 2 months.

The airmail was fast (3 days) and was packaged extremely well. Never saw anything like it before actually. The panel was shrink wrapped then a type of packing foam was sprayed in top / bottom and the box sealed fully securing it. Black bin is already full with the packing materials and it was only collected yesterday :D

It arrived in pristine condition but €370 is extracting the urine.

They're in great condition considering how awfully fragile those boxes are. SF the movie is actually a pretty decent fighter. Capcom redeveloped the arcade game which is stinking piss and based in off SSF2T.

The guy has a ton of Sega Saturn stuff. All excellent condition. This was the only one i picked up though. Dont want to start off and get loads of Saturn stuff and get another obsession

Really happy with the Sega CD stuff. Have to pick up a cheapish ever drive now to change the sega cd bios so i can play these

Also have to get the triple bipass mod installed on my MD1

Finally got my hands on a Model 1 Master System. Very clean condition, delighted with it.

I suppose this counts as a "get" even though I put it together myself!

Just finished putting a PicoMemCard together. Nice fun little project.

    What a beaut!

Just a heads up, there's a warning on the website not to remove or insert scart cables while it's powered on.

I've inserted scart cables with it on and the console off plenty of times without any issue but yeah, apparently something to be wary of:

'NEVER connect / disconnect SCART PLUGS

    when HYDRA is ON

especially when CONSOLE/SYSTEM is ON !

    You may ask why..

Designing device, I put much effort into ability to passthrough many types of signals: from composite to component. To protect device and not to cut signal`s range, HYDRAs have additional ESD protection diodes, but for a short period of time when scanning for active scart, Hydra is defenseless. If You got hit that moment plugging powered on device, You will damage RGB chip with ESD voltage that may reach thousands of volts (not dangerous for you, but electronics is fragile..). This chip may become very hot and protection will probably brick hydra till one of chips is replaced (NCS2564). Cost of repair is 10Euro !!!

    Possible symptoms:

    knight rider effect stops

    one scart port doesn`t work

    Interferences between ports

    HD led doesn`t work anymore

only one port gives correct picture; others are darker....'

I finally picked up one of those games, not very expensive but hard to find to be honest.

Battle Gear III for the PS2.

It was released in 2002, based on the arcade game series of the same name.

Thanks to Cosmicsmash for finding it for me!

    Thanks @deadl0ck, it’s a lovely machine.

Still messing about with it. Lovely screen, okay dpad (it’s a little bit clicky), sleep doesn’t work with the Everdrive.

No spare SD cards to try OpenFPGA cores, so I played some Tetris and LTTP.

    Excellent.

    I'm sure I mad the right decision......😫

Thanks to the main man himself, Jack Burton, I got a few more capcom cps2 games :) A serious amount of street fighterage.

Alpha 3 is still the best of the street fighter games I think but I'll give ss2x a good go and see what all the fuss is about.

While I was at it I took out the rest of my cps2 stuff, including a cheat of cps1.5. Also have all those capcom secret files to match up with all the games, these were mini magazines capcom released for each title. Nice to pair them up.

    Go for broke!

That's a serious haul! Tried testing any of them out yet? How are the batteries looking?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 104 ✭✭tonyotonyo

Tested all of them, no problems at all. A few had a label on them "phoenixed" so they won't have batteries but I'll have to check each one to make sure

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,924 ✭✭✭geotrig

The boot screen should tell you anyway as it'sll displays mostly there , nice haul, 2x all the way over alpha 3,a3 is great but 2x is the best

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,986 ✭✭✭Inviere

I still prefer Champion Edition to just sit down and play. I had all of the pcb's years back, from SF2 to SSF2T, and even thennit was the one I played most. After that I'd prob go SSF2, and then HF.

Tony that is a sight to behold!

I'm sure you are aware already but the darksoft multi kits for cps 1(1.5) and 2 are perfect. I've a fair few cps1 and 2 original boards but they never see any use now I've got the multi kits.

On the original cps2 boards look into battery removal and solder in the infinikey or one of the alternatives for sale on arcade-projects.com.

    What a haul!!
