Anytime he tries to build up a fight he just makes it embarrassing when he opens his mouth.

Although I can't see Dricus beating him. He is very awkward/powerful but will be hoping he does win.

When Volk beats Topuria, is it a rematch with Islam then?l as no one left in the division then. Aljo/ Cejudo have no chance against him.

It's not the first time in a Moreno fight, but the commentary was way off on it, Pantoja was landing much heavier shots while Moreno was landing jabs and DC and Rogan creaming themselves talking about Moreno winning the round. They showed the round strikes and it was exactly level immediately after it. I thought it was a close fight, would have slightly edged it to Pantoja for the more significant strikes and control.

Somebow he’s even more insufferable than DDP.

Hoping for a double KO in that one.

Hope Izzy gets sparked. A clueless ignorant individual.

Dana of was asked about the racial undertones in the confrontation his predictable response was what racial undertones ffs. He was then asked about the N word also being repeated on live TV and said trash talk is part of the game he's black so what.

Were you offended by words after watching men savagely fighting

I have to say I radically under-estimated Du Plessis going into that fight. What a performance, left me speechless.

Amazing card overall. So many great fights and to see Robbie get a send off like that was genuinely magical.

Israel coming into the cage was so cringe I could barely watch. He's such an ignorant, unlikeable tool. I hope Du Plessis knocks those words out of his mouth.

Also new mythical fighter: Oxygenated Du Plessis. Hadn't heard that story about his nose issues.

Not particularly I can't stand spoof Dana being tone deaf in what was being asked.

Izzy trashed Bobby Knuckles for not being a real New Zealander. Now this African roots debate nonsense with DDP is now clear evidence that shows him as a massive f'n hypocrite.

Completely agree. Commentary is often bias, it's natural when the commentators are also fans. But that bias definitely sways viewer. Especially those that don't really understand how fights are scored. There's no point deciding at the 5th round bell that you think that Moreno did more and definitely won.

Stats don't tell the whole picture. But the claim was based on "higher % strikes, higher % significant strikes and had an equal amount of takedowns", and stats don't show that at all. Main criteria highlighted; Sig strikes, total strikes, takedowns and control time. Solid highlights are dominate advantages, boxes are marginal.

Pantoja clearly takes Rd1. Moreno takes Rd 2, clearly also.

Rd3 the strikes are close to equal (marginally Moreno), Pantoja has a big edge in takedowns and control. Pantoja's round.

Rd 4 is probably the one that divides most. stats are split, Pantoja dominated control and takedowns. But Moreno's strikes should award him the round.

Rd 5 Moreno has an insignificant edge in Sig strikes. But Pantoja strong advantage across everything else on total strikes.

As I said, stats are hot everything. But if people are going to appeal to the stats, they are in Pantoja's favour, with the closet round going to Moreno. I have that 47-46 (with an outside change of 48-46) to Pantoja. Unsurprisingly, the media scores strongly align to that.

It's only hypocritical if we think he was his original comments are in any way genuine. Clearly he was just looking for angle to needle Rob.

And DD was doing the same to Izzy, pointing out that he's not training in Africa to wind him up.
But also the one where Pantoja won more rounds than Moreno
• Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,636 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

Damage is a big part of scoring and Pantoja did a lot more of that. I think he won it clearly.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,636 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

Adesanya using the n word multiple times was disgraceful. The world is trying to get rid of that word and here's a pretty high profile sports star using it.

I hope he loses every fight from now on.

Hes running with the African vs Afrikaan thing. No need.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,714 ✭✭✭✭rob316

Meh I'm with Dana on this one. Load of nothing

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,636 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

The world is trying to get rid of the word and he has a responsibility as a pretty well know person to understand that and act accordingly. There are many black people all over the world upset by what he did.

I'm upset by it. I really hope he's gone soon, I don't want to look at him ever again. I'm certainly muting the TV when he's talking. I really hope Du Plessis destroys him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 702 ✭✭✭US3

It doesn't take much to upset you or to outrage you. I thought you weren't watching UFC anymore since endeavour bought WWE. You said they'll probably script ufc fights to set up fights with WWE wrestlers 😂

I can't stand Izzy myself and try to stay off social media during his fight weeks but jesus how can anyone, especially an Irish man be "upset" by a black man saying nigga.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,636 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

Well I've an Irish friend whose black and she heard about it and wasn't happy. I lived in the US for over half a decade and I've many friends over there who I've stayed in contact with and two of my black friends talked about how unhappy they were about it. They both said pretty much the same thing which was that the gang types would love it but everybody else would be upset by it.

As for Dana White and his comments, he doesn't care about fighters or anything else, all that matters to him is money. Every comment he makes is what he thinks will make him the most money.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,431 ✭✭✭✭MrStuffins

Your friends are upset, that's grand.

You're not upset by it, that's a spoof!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,636 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

I am upset by it. Using that word is inexcusable in this day and age.

Izzy is a clown, he's the king of cringe like Garry ,

Izzy fought multiply times in Kickboxing with a Chinese's flag & claiming his heart is Chinese's . then against Rob claims he's the more New Zeelander of the two, Now he's back to being African again ,

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,751 ✭✭✭✭billyhead

A grade a tool. Hopefully knocked off his perch in the fight.

Virgin 2 are showing UFC London live from 5pm tomorrow evening Tom Aspinall headlining, Molly McCann on main card & Ireland's Shauna Bannon making her UFC debut on the prelims

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,714 ✭✭✭✭rob316

Bannon looked dreadful. It's mma not point sparring, devoid of any basics. Too much too soon anyway she only turned pro 18 months ago.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,154 ✭✭✭finglashoop

Brutal. Judges giving her rounds must have a dog and a stick.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,714 ✭✭✭✭rob316

Is mma really for you, you seem easily upset. I seem to remember you been upset about the follow up punches masvidal hit askren with too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,636 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

Askren was out cold and he kept hitting him. Of course I was upset by that.

Using the n word has nothing to do with MMA. It's disgraceful behaviour no matter where it happens. If it was a soccer player, boxer, tennis player etc. I'd be equally as upset.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,154 ✭✭✭finglashoop

Fom memory askren wasnt upset with the extras

    henderson done same to bisping

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,636 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

That doesn't mean they should do it.

All these guys are in danger of having CTE, those extra hits when you can't protect yourself could have a huge cost.

You strike the opponent until the ref steps in, it happens so quick masvidal doesn't even know askren is out cold.

Izzy is black, he wants to use that word he can.

It's prize fighting, you sell the fight, create controversy, create emotion.
