It’s one thing to be coy about your salary to other staff/ work colleagues in a company/workplace in NORMAL TIMES but IT IS QUIET ANOTHER THING when it is being done during a time when salaries/payments right across the board nationally were TOP OF THE AGENDA because of the severe recession setting in

and then RT saying he also took a pay cut of 40% - according to NK. Others say it was 20% when in actual fact if you include the supposed Renault payment which in actual fact originated from the RTE barter account , RT ‘s payment increased.

suck that up RTE staff and other members of the NK stable of talent . YOU TO can have such a deal if you would like a one now that I have ‘trialled it with my top stable talent!

He's a sole trader, what should he resign from?

"We asked 7 Ladies who lunch, Lottie Ryan, Kathryn Thomas, Maia Dunphy, the two Niamhs who work in NKM, Ryan Tubridy's 2 daughters, his mother, and 2 randomers we found on the street and the majority of them said they want Ryan back".

No offence to The Goss, but their poll conducted on Instagram would have about as much scientific robustness and accuracy as the textpolls Joe Duffy runs on LiveLine (i.e., none).

There’s a chain of restaurants in America called Waffle House. These guys wasted time and waffled and read off pages and repeated rehearsed answers for 6 hours.

Did he 'resign' from presenting the Late Late Show or not? Seems a reasonable and easily understood description of what happened.

At any time you could describe it yourself you know. Strange that you don't. Keep jumping it to correct other posters but seemingly incapable of correctly describing it yourself.

Ok, so take him to court, if he is wrong. The problem with that is that he is not legally wrong. And the Irish govt would get handed their asses if they did, that’s why it hasn’t been mentioned to date.

brand equals someone’s sentiment/ feeling which is not law.

time to grow up. Look at every other business in Ireland. Are you as hard nosed with sentiment to them? Huge overcharging in every aspect of every day life.

I don’t like the guy, but he didn’t break any law, from what I’ve heard to date. People just don’t like what he’s earning. Which I agree is overpaid, but not illegal.

Oh a few have already started to circle the wagons on Tubs.

They are only dragging themselves down

NK Fluff pieces all over Claire Byrne now.

The high and mighty are now making their move for Ryan. Up to the general public to push against this.

I’d love to know what’s gone on behind the scenes over the years between NK, Ryan and Terry Prone. Terry really hasn’t minced her words and she must move in the same circles. I wonder if there massive resentment of NK. I’m not saying I disagree with what she’s said, just that Dublin is so small, I’m surprised she’s saying it. Anton didn’t hold back either.

That's debatable according to rte. Which or whether you don't "resign " from a contract. You either fulfil the contract or break the contract,

Yeah, the exchanges between RT & Peter Fitzpatrick AKA Postman Pat are laughable listening bank to it now 🤣

I really don't believe i can dumb down the difference between a contract and being a staff member any further for you.

Not really that from my perspective. I don't care what anyone earns. I just care when people start to bullshit, lie and think I'm some sort of idiot who can't see through it. That's what RTÉ, Noel Kelly and Ryan Tubridy are doing.

Whatever amount of money they get is something I don't lose sleep over.

Yes he did break the contract by finishing up on Late Late, so RTE could use that as a reason to cancel the entire contract

The contract he SIGNED with RTE.

It's, literally, what RESIGNED means. 🙄

Where to start with this gem of misinformation

Your don’t understand VAT rules, maybe you understand that you pay vat of 23% on your benson and hedges and linden village but it appears you know little beyond that. You don’t even understand the basic principle that vat on services is 13.5% let alone Vat is complex and there are valid reasons for 0% vat so why try to come across that you understand all the technicalities?

based on this post I’ll assume your other posts are equally incorrect.

Guy on CB now reckoning RTs chances of a comeback have give from 90/10 against/for to 60/40. I’d disagree. I think on the surface he did a fair job yesterday. I I’m left with questions and a bad taste about it all today. It’s like painting over fire damage. It looks good for a small while but the spot marks reappear before too long.

    VAT on services is 23%

You should read your own post because it is an excellent description. This bit I did find apt

This is the spin now, RTE tried to do the same on news that yesterday was a draw. Tubs got his points over and the public would feel his pain blah blah blah.

Anyone I have talked to , all ages have said he has to leave and yesterday was a disaster for him. But RTE are headless chickens and will probably keep him

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 177 ✭✭Dionysis

Only if they didn’t agree to let him out of the tv aspect of it, and to keep his radio portion. If they did, they can’t. Obviously there are clauses for breaking the contract with a contractor. But, as RTE were part of the setup that people have an issue with, I would doubt they have grounds to cancel the contract.

the angle they have is to reduce the contract value for the radio portion alone to such an extent that he won’t work for it.

Can we start a poll to see what the sentiment here is about a return?

I don't think RTE or the news media outlets are really going to give us an unbiased answer to that question. Too many of them have skin in the game and are surely concerned that more skeletons are going to come out of the closet here. They don't want to upset the apple cart too much.

A small but good indicator for me, showing RT and NK for who they really are, was the invoicing for services not yet delivered ie the €150k invoice to ASTUS. The key moment in this relatively small issue was when they proposed that they had invoiced for these because they were "still there, waiting to be drawn down by Renolt when. - and/or if - that time ever comes. Sheer greed, writ large on their foreheads. And they had feck all intention of returning it until this last weekend, btw.

I think the unravelling of that invoice by Revenue (why invoiced to the UK at 0%, Mr Kelly?) and by ODCE (what consultancy services and why CMS, Mr Kelly?) would be interesting

Indeed. I always thought it odd that instead of launching straight into a serious current affairs morning show like Claire Byrne right after Morning Ireland, RTE deemed it necessary to give a lightweight like Tubridy an indulgence like a 1 hour piece of fluff at 9am.

It really seems like Tubridy has a lot of leverage in RTE contract talks and Kelly was not only getting him an incredible salary but also getting him incredibly favourable slots, hours of work, side deals etc etc etc

It will be far more accurate than some of the shite being peddled now by the media in order to save Tubridy. Unreal the hold the guy has over them.

Anyone i have met through work or leisure is of the same opinion about the guy. Insincere and sorry because he was caught. They also think he is bang avergae at his job and 100k per annum is too much for him.

I'm literally yet to meet anyone who thinks he is worth anywhere near the coin he was getting. Yes some think he was an ok broadcaster but certainly replaceable. RTE need to make a statement here and get rid of the guy. Show the rest of them that they are not untouchable.
