A bit of a stupid feint to destroy 7 Aircraft, A fuel depot along with whatever other infrastructure damages have occurred.

Along with general reputational damages to various institutions.

⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️ Message from the press service of the President of the Republic of Belarus.

This morning, Russian President Vladimir Putin briefed his Belarusian counterpart on the situation in southern Russia with the private military company Wagner. The heads of state agreed on joint actions.

As a follow-up to the agreements, the President of Belarus, having additionally specified the situation through his own channels, and in agreement with the President of Russia, held talks with the head of Wagner PMC Yevgeny Prigozhin.

Negotiations continued throughout the day. As a result, they came to agreements on the inadmissibility of unleashing a bloody massacre on the territory of Russia. Yevgeny Prigozhin accepted the proposal of the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko to stop the movement of armed persons of the Wagner company on the territory of Russia and take further steps to de-escalate tensions.

At the moment, an absolutely profitable and acceptable option for solving the situation is on the table, with security guarantees for the Wagner PMC fighters.

As previously reported, also during today, the President of Belarus held two meetings with the power bloc of the country on this situation.

Prigozhin is extremly unhinged, don't try and make too much sense of it - you won't be able to.

Putin's strongman image ebbs away further if Prigorzhin is allowed walk away. Luka and the Chechyans to the rescue?

Defense "reshuffle", guarantees handed out to Wagnerite mercenaries, Prighozhin dead/poisoned before end of year, Russian state controlled media brushes the whole "incident" under the carpet, calling it now

It's unclear. Has he asked them to turn back or halted them?

Looks as though Pergozin just moved his troops to safety. The Russian forces and Ukrainians wanted them out of the theatre so he brought them to somewhere it'd be harder to explain by Putin knocking off his own people.

Ballsy move. His lads will probably be subsumed into the regulars but on better terms than had previously been given a few weeks ago.

Indeed, there might be a bit of a shakeup within the military chain of command as a price to pay for Wagner integration. I suspect Prigozhin will walk away without taking up a position himself.

Apparently the Wagner forces encountered this duo on the outskirts of Moscow and just decided to call the whole thing off and head back to base for a nice cup of tae.....

So is it fully over or has this fully stopped?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32 JohnJoe1000

Yeah and not what Ukraine wanted which is the only thing that matters.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,621 ✭✭✭timmyntc

"Back to base" - doesnt say which bases though.

Probably back to captured bases in voronezh and rostov for now until the situation develops further.

I reported this kicking off around this time last night and 24hours later looks like its finished.

I dunno, might still be another card to play yet. Surely Pringles knows he's a marked man.

This is a head scratcher. No way Putin and Pringles are on okay terms. Or the heads of thr MoD taking the fall for this

How did Luka in Belarus manage to secure a deal.

Lot of questions. Don't know what to believe

It's still early and you have to remember the Kremlin are masters of disinformation, for all we know all theses reports that a deal has been done and it's all over could be just another disinformation campaign to buy the authorities some time

This should worry Ukraine and the wider international community tbh. The likes of Shoigu and Gerasimov are moderates compared to some of the people Prigozhin has been advocating for. Ultra nationalists and extremists are consolidating power.

In terms of the foreseeable future. Wagner has pulled their forces back to their bases.

We will now see whether this agreement holds and what sort of consequences will arise from this.

Have Pergozin or Putin made a on camera statement yet? Seems odd that this broke via a known Putin ally and apparently the "confirmation" came via tape? Seems odd given all the footage I've seen of him (Pergozin) making statements on Sky all day

Could be disinformation to confuse the en-route troops I suppose. Who knows.

Hard to see how things can be as before, given what’s gone down. Did military support ooze away from Wagner? Why would they pause and allow administration time to reinforce the Kremlin? Who would trust Putin or Luka?
