Fecks sake why are they still punching holes in all the screens? Infuriating.

Those prices arent great. Xiaomi uk had some golden offers last Summer. F3 8/256 for £180.

Id say yer best bet now (if you're not in a hurry) is setup an 100 degrees alert on HotUKDeals for "xiaomi phone" and you'll have a better deal soon from Amazon or mi.com/uk

In that case only immediate offer I see is switching to vodafone for the redmi note 10 5g for 130 euro. I got this phone for my father who is a light user. No social media apps just whatsapp / calls / texts and his hearing aid app. Very nice for the price.

Get it in store. Online ordering is a balls.

Get the cheapest one, Redmi 10 delivery on Wednesday.

Its tough to get something smaller at reasonable price without the spec suffering. Screen isnt small but this phone is very light and slim compared to other similar priced phones. The spec is amazing for the price. Must be a catch somewhere with this at 180 euro. The prepay plan looks decent also at 15 euro top.

By comparison this same phone is 280 euro AFTER a 100 euro switching discount with Vodafone...

Edit: bollox just noticed its out of stock. Not surprising at that price.

Ah ok was wondering why you were looking at mi uk. FYI the Poco M5 is on offer tomorrow for £150 on there.

As for the 12 v 10 not much difference really since they are both 4gb RAM models:

In my experience with my own mother. As long as the phone isnt a monstrous weight (>190g) when you get a nice wallet cover on it with a magnetic clip to close it and it holds her credit cards etc. she's happy enough.

Well after the Poco F5 and Pro hit the market on Monday, I've got to say that I am quite surprised at the pricing. Above what I'd expected by €100 or more.

The Google fu I'd undertaken earlier that led me to believe the Note 12 Turbo and the Poco F5 were one and the same, well it's been borne out on the xiaomi.eu ROM page.

    Screenshot_2023-05-11-15-04-28-872-edit_com.android.chrome.jpg

I'm confident in that belief to have bought the handset in the 12/256 version this morning. I think that the 5G band 20 is a software edit, if it works I'll be very 😁 if it doesn't, well I still have another 5g band available and it covers home and urban at very least.

Bought on giztop for €370 will leave a little review once it's arrived and I've used it a little while on xiaomi.eu ROM.

how long does the lower price last . what are best options for buying in ireland

Which lower price? Is there a handset in particular you are after?

Buying choices here generally depend on what you are buying but I've always found AliExpress to be decent esp as they include VAT. Other options such as Giztop or Sunday will have the same handsets cheaper but only as they don't charge VAT so expect additional cost when it lands.

poco F5 due to having the headphone jack . havnt bought them onnline before

I get you now. The Poco F5 is available on AliExpress from the official poco store there, for €402.31 inc VAT. (The F5 Pro is available there for €600😳).

Both prices are steep IMO. You can always try giztop or sunsky or use KIMOVIL which is good for both comparing specs and checking prices.

Xiaomi/Poco/Redmi tend to rebadge models between themselves. So the Redmi note 12 turbo, is the same platform as the Poco F5 (Marble).

If you are comfortable flashing unlocking the bootloader and flashing new ROMs onto handsets? Then it's a means of buying a cheaper handset. You do need to be handy with ADB and flashtools but it's not hard to learn.

I bought the Note 12 turbo 12/256 for €357.88 versus the price for Poco F5 via official stor on Ali at €436.89 that's a near €80 saving but it means being your own tech support for the phone.

Note 12 Turbo/Redmi K60/Poco F5 arrived this morning. I bought the 12/256 GB version and have had a little play around with it. It's lighter than the Poco F2 Pro by a decent margin(probably due to the Polycarbonate frame and back) Similar in size, although the straight frame edges probably exaggerate that effect. I've played with the camera, which is very good. The rest of any meaningful review on my part will have to wait until the 24th. Waiting for the bootloader to unlock and have 167.5 hours to go before I can flash TWRP and Xiaomi.eu rom, tick-tock, tick-tock! Always the worst part of a new Xiaomi for me because I have the patience of a toddler with ADHD and a bag of cocaine!

1st impressions are v.good, and as a bonus, it landed without VAT

I've a Redmi note 9 that has seen better days - screen is cracked. Looking at upgrading and see the Note 12 4/128gb available on Amazon UK for around €200 delivered. Would prefer a snapdragon device rather than mediatek. Any other good deals around or phones you'd recommend. I'm not in a hurry so not pulling the trigger just yet.

Edit: Looking to spend around €250.

    Thanks

Best I can see at the moment is the poco x5 5g 6/128 for 288.

Specs look almost identical to the x4 pro 5g.

    Snapdragon 695.

As far as I know, Amazon will add VAT to the price of an item before you pay for it, so the full price will be displayed at checkout. If not, then this website can be helpful:

On this website, you can change the VAT rate to 21% and then add €10-€15 for handling.

    Note: eu plug

Worth the extra euro from xiaomi.ie if they ship with Irish plug imo.

Anyone with a Redmi Note 11 Pro (or similar) upgrade to MIUI 14 recently? I got the update a few days ago and it's practically bricked my phone. Apps constantly hanging on me since. I'll probably end up factory resetting and going back to 13.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,375 ✭✭✭jj880

Updated both Redmi Note 11 Pro and Poco X4 Pro to MIUI 14 a few weeks ago. No problems other than getting used to a few minor UI and button function changes. No freezing. If anything phones are running better.

Updated Poco X5 5G to MIUI 14.0.2. No problems. No freezing. All ok.

Updated to 14 on a redmi note 11 5g and the above happens at least once a day, mainly at night for some reason. The home screen wont show any apps and the phone as you said is like a brick. Even getting it to turn off may take 10mins. I'm running Nova launcher if that's anything to do with it?

Lots of users on xiaomi.eu forum reporting this problem. Only on redmi note 11 pro 5g. As already suggested above by Bacchus only fix at present is rolling back to MIUI 13. More info here:

My son's note 11 pro 5g seems to be fine with MIUI 14 though. Strange.
