    Re Audio

The front 4 speakers are still fitted but not enabled, they can be DIY added with a wiring loom but our RHD cars have the connections in different locations to the LHD so be very careful on where you order the wiring loom

Rear surround speakers are no longer fitted

Amp was never fitted, was only ever available with LR/P models

My stuff on Adverts, mostly Tesla Pre Highland Model 3

I think it is bad decision that they do not mention those differences when you place an order.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,381 ✭✭✭MightyMunster

Is it not still called partial premium interior?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,523 ✭✭✭September1

It is, but this spec is only visible after placing order and even then it does not explain what are differences.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,256 ✭✭✭✭AndyBoBandy

No, you just need to look a little harder, but it clearly states the difference between Partial Premium & Premium Interior, and before any order is placed…

It's not much different anyway, I went from partial to premium and the difference is minimal

Those of you who use Autopilot regularly. How often do you experience phantom braking? Do you notice any instances where it happens more often like at night, driving under an overpass or when on national roads?

I haven’t had it once in the last 14 months. But I have EAP but that shouldn’t make any difference 🤷‍♂️

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,879 ✭✭✭rx8

I've had it twice now in roughly the same area of the N7, though on opposite sides of the motorway. Something around junction 7 slipway going into ionity chargers makes it brake sharply. Now I'm aware of it, I'm ready if it happens. It doesn't always do it.

(MY RWD, 1 month old now)

I’d have it happen sporadically from time to time….. usually on twisty(ish) roads, but every now and again on a motorway it won’t like the position of a (big) vehicle I’m in the process of overtaking (or even sometimes a shadow), and will drop the anchors…

it’s still a lot better than it was 2-3 years ago, but every now and again it just likes to remind you that it’s not there yet…

Haven't had it yet in a month with the new car, previously happened every couple of months, almost always when overtaking a truck. Although haven't had this for ages, the car now moves to the right of the lane if a truck is close to the line and then recenters after you've passed it, which is pretty clever.

Had one for a bridge shadow before, maybe in 2021.

Would keep foot resting on accelerator when in AP so would be able to accelerate again straight away if had a phantom brake.

How does the car brake when it happens - stops dead or slows down?

With the recent price cuts has anyone who purchased a M3 last year (for 10k dearer!) contacted Tesla to see if they will do anything for you? They could switch on some premium software features or something I feel. Might be worth a shot?

    Hi All

I was just wondering who people are getting good insurance quotes from?

Am up for renewal in the middle of May.

    Cheers

Not always the same but in general brakes pretty hard.

I find it pretty rare and would use AP for >75% of my driving. Maybe 5 or 6 times in 4 years and most of these would have been 3 or 4 years ago.

Rarely get phantom braking, but not a great user of autopilot.

However on N single carriage roads get a bit of phantom swerving, usually on a bend with a turn off lane. I am always aware it can happen and on my normal routes know where it will happen, so doesn't worry me too much. But initially was a bit of a fright.

Thanks for the input everyone re my 530e vs M3 SR.

Seems spec-wise apart from performance there isn't a huge loss on SR vs LR so I'm comfortable to go with the base model in white.

I guess the only question now is, excluding the change in the grant that's incoming, do we have an insight as to whether or not we'll see Elon announce further price drops? Or am I essentially asking to see into a crystal ball and the mind of a man that no one ever can 😁

Presumably this issue only occurs with AP engaged?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,879 ✭✭✭rx8

If you're happy to pay €40332 for it then go for it. You'll more than likely have your new car before the end of June. It's probably the soonest you'll get any new car nowadays anyway.

PS. Don't forget to order through a referral link ! ;)

It really is crystal ball territory at this stage…..

the same base spec car was €54k only a few months ago….. (I actually ordered a new one at that price thinking the prices were going to increase again…. And Tesla were offering me €44k for my 2020 SR+, so it really is all bonkers stuff).

€40k for a brand new Tesla Model 3 is insane….. if I didn’t already have one, I’d be all over one at that price!!

even this morning a guy commented on a Facebook CarZone post that the cheapest he could see a new Tesla was €57k!!!!, so there’s still a bizarre perception out there that these are Uber expensive cars…. Yet today a new Model 3 costs over €2k less than a VW ID.3!!!!! It’s Bonkers!!!

    Well...I guess a spur-of-the-moment can result in an order of a M3. 😂

Went ahead and placed an order for M3 SR.

    😲

Nice one. You'll be constantly refreshing the Waiting room thread for the next while. 😁😁

I was the same last year and don't regret it..

Best of luck for a speedy car..

Funnily enough, end of June would suit me fine for delivery so no major rush. Well once the VIN is assigned in time!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,256 ✭✭✭✭AndyBoBandy

You’ll be kicking yourself you didn’t buy one sooner……. Then you’ll realise had you bought one sooner you’d probably have paid north of €50k for it…. So in fact you couldn’t have bought at a better time really!!!

Join the Tesla owners Facebook group (using your RN number) (if Facebook is your thing), as it’s the official owners group and is recognised by Tesla and is a very helpful place for tips, tricks & all round advice… (and the admins can escalate any issues direct to Tesla).

coming from a 530e I presume you already have a home charger? (If not get on it right away)

Everyones been going nuts for accessories lately, but in reality you don’t need any….. just get the car and then decide if you need anything. The only Tesla specific accessory you might need is the jacking pucks, as some places are not willing to Jack up a Tesla without them (even though it’s perfectly fine to do so, the pucks just make the process foolproof)..

apart from that, download the app, and start watching all the video guides in the app and on YouTube as well…

I use AP every day - had a mild phantim brake issue on the M4 today and a couple of episodes in the last couple of months that were more severe. However none severe enough to nearly cause an accident and given how much I use AP I wouldnt have any complaints. Its a great system and its made my life on the road for work so much easier as I feel a lot less fatigued after a long journey.

Driving a loaner from Tesla at the moment, a 2020 Model 3 SR+ with FSD. Big difference compared to my 2023 Shanghai Model 3 (RWD). Performance wise it's quite similar IME. It's a lot noisier though. Definitely miss the heated steering wheel. No power trunk either.

I will say that I wouldn't bother with FSD. It feels like you've just put a first time driver behind the wheel. They kinda have a grip on the controls but that's about it. 🤣

    Thanks!

Well actually I'm coming from a 2L diesel mondeo. My commute these days is max 50km round so no longer need that big ol lug, like I did at the time I purchased.

So I'll now be in the market for a charger. Any advice on best options here re charging? I'm also in process of Solar PV quoting so a lot of moving parts.
