That's a default Tesla post for service calls so can be ignored, must be some system thing

It turns out they do replace the O ring on the trunk lid power strut whenever cars are sent to them. It wasn’t a full recall but they told me there have been cars where the O ring was omitted and this led to rain getting into the electrics of the power trunks. Mine had the O ring but they still changed it to the current version.

Got to give them credit for being particularly nice and helpful. I was a bit annoyed they hadn’t cleaned the new screen well and they jumped to work on it. They also greased the squeaky side windows and reinstalled my toll tag. Nice guys.

Toll tag stuck under the armrest lid is where it's at. It works! No lump of white plastic on the windscreen. :)

If I was to order a new tesla today I presume that I'd be under the new SEAI grant or 3,500 and not the 5,000 grant? (I presume the grant applies to whenever the vehicle arrives?)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,373 ✭✭✭MightyMunster

Not necessarily, if you order one from inventory it should be one that's enroute, so will be available before July. I read yesterday someone ordered one last week and is collecting on Tuesday.

Worst case it's not here by July and you can cancel and get a refund if you want so it's worth a gamble anyway.

Don't forget to order via a referral link for some free charging etc

Full €5K grant is available for 4 months from approval date. If Tesla can apply for the grant and get it approved before July 1st, you’ll get the €5K off even if the car isn’t registered until October. You could also have the benefit of a 232 plate if it makes any odds.

Late night browsing were ya? Whatever you decide, you'll either have 5k off the 131 plate, or 3.5k off the 132 plate. If you see an inventory car you like, order that. Otherwise order exactly what you want. And use a referral link for tesla credits. Nice for some free charging after collection.

    Stay Free

You could have one before end of June according to the pop up of their website if you order an existing inventory one as theirs are already on the way.

Had the following charge port error message appear when I parked up last night after a long trip.

    Alerts.jpg

A quick googly didnt reveal too much about CP_a163 error code, other than a couple of reports about a faulty charging harness being the culprit.

The message became inactive overnight, but has me concerned should it reappear as Im on the road during the week normally.

    Anyone had a similar experience?

Log a ticket on app and give them the time and date error occurred.

Did that already - keen to know if any other peeps have encountered similar issue and if it was recurring.

Last year I had an issue with DC Fast charging, although I didn't get an error on the screen.

Tesla had told me that my charge port ECU had crashed so that the car couldn't communicate with the chargers. Their advice was that if it happened again I should disable sentry mode, lock the car and walk away for several minutes to allow the car to enter deep sleep. When the car wakes up it restarts the charge port ECU. They also said it was a known issue and would be fixed in patch 2022.24. Haven't had an issue since.

Sounds like your case is different though.

Made a custom order M3 entry level on 15th of April. EDD is 13th-28th June. Test drove the other day as still on the fence, asked nice guy behind the counter if he had any further details on the order. Turns out it's in Zeebrugge and awaiting transport to Ireland so there are plenty after transiting the Suez anyway I'd guess

Really? So that means they did arrive on the Grand Champion and are not on the Grande Mirafiori

Is there any way I can charge between 2 and 5 via the Tesla App only?

The best I can come up with is to set the start time in the app and set the %age limit so as to finish around 3 hours later depending on the current SOC.

But I might be out by 30 minutes either way.

Set a scheduled charge for 2am.

In 3 hours you can take on 21kWh… (in my SR+ that’s 42%.

So if I was playing the 2-5am game, I’d set the charge level at 42% above what the car was currently sitting at as I went to bed.

you’d have to do that every night, but it’s doable.

Anyone find it invasive that their partner can track their movements through the app?

You’ve obviously giving them permission so that rules out the invasive issue.

It’s like sharing your location through the find me app on iOS. You have to give permission to the other person and you can revoke it at stage.

No more, "I'm on my way" followed by "heavy traffic here" when in reality you're still in the office hammering away at the spreadsheets.

Back in the day there was a pub in a local town called The Office, that was an honest excuse at least...😁

They'd have the app so they can drive it every now and again, is it still possible to restrict location access after that?

She never rings me anymore to see where I am 😁

Not within the app. There are workarounds, but they are cluncky and wont meet your requirements exactly.

If you dont want them tracking your journey, give them an RFID card to drive and revoke the mobile digital key.

If this drone shot of the alleged M3 refresh is reliable to go by, it appears the refresh will be stalkless, capacitive buttons with screen swipe forward and reverse like the new Model S/X.

Terrible news if true. I think it will push those waiting for the refresh to place their orders soon for the current M3.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,259 ✭✭✭sk8board

Makes sense in many ways. The 3 is over 7 years old now, so its hard to have a meaningful mid life refresh without carrying over something from the bigger sister car.

otherwise it’s just a front and rear bumper update, something most other cars get after 3-4 years on sale

One of the big things I liked about the refresh MS was the stalkless and touch buttons on the wheel. I hated the yoke so delighted that’s gone.

Done forget, there’s physical buttons for the gears below the screen.

Announced maybe 7 years ago was it?

Hit the US in 2018 so that puts it at 5 years. Hit Ireland in late 2019 so refresh in late 2023 is about right in matching BMW’s LCI process.

We seen the bmw i5 near 2 years ago but it won’t be launched until this year, will that car be 2 years ok the moment it’s launched?

pretty sure my original deposit was March or April 2016, I’d have to check.

We’re used to cars being announced and delivered 6 months later, even in Ireland (ID3, ID4 etc).

Little did I know it would be 3.5yrs in Oct ‘19 before Ireland saw one. I got a 4series and forgot about it for a few years :)

    edit: March 31st 2016:

my point is simply that cars age as the design becomes widely seen.

look at the cybertruck, we’re bombarded with the design and shape since it was announced 3.5years ago, and we’re a while away from seeing them on the street.

as a result, the design has completely lost its impact - and it’s a design that could age really really badly too.

fast fwd through a few years of cybertruck sales and suddenly it looks old very quickly, with a big unknown around the ability to repair the slab sided steel panels

meanwhile things like the ford f150 lightning are announced and released and on the streets very quickly and take a lot of the sales in that EV pickup niche

Yes understand that about deposits but you could do that the night of the launch.

Cars are always announced way before release. Look at the i4 for example. Announced at the Paris motor show in 2018. Launch in Ireland in November 2021.

I personally don’t think we will see a cyber truck in Ireland.
