The gas thing is all the cars have the footwell lights, but in the Partial Premium Interior cars they only give you a little flash of them to let you k is what you could of had had you forked out for the more expensive car….
They could sell them in app if they wanted. They did that with the heated rear seat and steering wheel on older cars.
I’m sure they will eventually when they need a cash injection…. Same with FSD subscription in Europe….
So I've been in the market the last few weeks for a 530e (budget 35k max) but with the current price drops with Tesla I'm being somewhat lured into full EV and stretching out the budget.
I test-drove the dual motor performance model many months ago at an event in Limerick. Outrageous driving experience to be fair. I guess though my budget really if I go M3 is the SR model with no extras (40k).
My question is, how noticeable is the driving experience from SR model to LR/Performance model. I'd assume I'm in for a better experience than ICE anyway even with the standard model.
Anything big misses I'd lose if going for standard?
Haven't quite got around to working out how I bridge the budget but I'll asking for forgiveness after 😁
I have a 2022 RWD (SR) and I don't think there's anything big you're missing out on. If you're coming from a petrol or diesel car the acceleration feels like a rocket ship, although it is noticeably more intense in the LR or the P. As for range, it's perfectly adequate. I regularly go from Carlow to Belfast for the ice hockey and the car can go further than we can. We tried to make it up without stopping but had to stop for a bathroom break and a bite, so we plugged in at the supercharger at Castlebellingham and the car was back at 100% before we finished.
Think I'd probably pay extra to get all the speakers working.
I have a standard Model 3 RWD. Very happy with both the performance and handling. Never driven a LR or P so cannot comment, but I would imagine I would love..😉 Range wise it does everything I need, rarely needing to stop and charge, excepting Belfast or London trips. My normal longer runs from west Co Wexford to both Dublin and Cork and back home again are comfortably doable without charging. (Both have a good bit of slower roads).
The missus has an Ioniq 5, of course it is more practical if you need the size, however I prefer the Tesla for performance, handling and efficiency.
I think it was Richard Symons https://www.youtube.com/@RSEV in one of his videos preferred the rear wheel drive, lighter Model 3 iirc.
That’ll require more than a software unlock though as the physical cable looms are not installed in RWD cars..
I think after switch to LFP the RWD model 3 is no longer as light as it used to be.
You won't be buying any petrol. That should pay off the the higher loan amount for you. M3 is a better choice for sure.
That's true, but I think the one that R Symonds tested was a LFP a year or so ago. I remember he mentioned something about the RWD being more fun.
Ah OK, well I won't be paying extra for that then.
Tried a performance a few years ago and it scared the bejaysus out of me. In fairness, it was giving it full belt down a straight. To be honest you're not going to be driving it like that day to day as you won't keep your license.
I'm pretty happy with the RWD 3. In normal mode it has plenty of poke. I think it's 280hp at the rear?
I'm not sure they fit the extras anymore, or at least the wiring for them. If it was a purely software unlock and made available I'd consider it for sure.
A White/ Black model 3 LR will be coming back into the inventory for anyone interested.
Thanks
There now for anyone looking for a white M3 LR at under 50k 😊
Holding out for a Performance?!
I was going to go with the black one that I took from inventory after the last price drops.
In the end I think it was hard to justify missing out on the grant for it even though it is still relatively good value compared to the UK.
Very hard to overlook the value in the white M3P! Doesn't seem to be any/many on the boat though based on today's VIN allocations
Yes fully agreed! Hopefully you'll get a vin assigned soon 👍
Re Audio
The front 4 speakers are still fitted but not enabled, they can be DIY added with a wiring loom but our RHD cars have the connections in different locations to the LHD so be very careful on where you order the wiring loom
Rear surround speakers are no longer fitted
Amp was never fitted, was only ever available with LR/P models
I think it is bad decision that they do not mention those differences when you place an order.
Is it not still called partial premium interior?
It is, but this spec is only visible after placing order and even then it does not explain what are differences.
No, you just need to look a little harder, but it clearly states the difference between Partial Premium & Premium Interior, and before any order is placed…
It's not much different anyway, I went from partial to premium and the difference is minimal
Those of you who use Autopilot regularly. How often do you experience phantom braking? Do you notice any instances where it happens more often like at night, driving under an overpass or when on national roads?
I haven’t had it once in the last 14 months. But I have EAP but that shouldn’t make any difference 🤷♂️
I've had it twice now in roughly the same area of the N7, though on opposite sides of the motorway. Something around junction 7 slipway going into ionity chargers makes it brake sharply. Now I'm aware of it, I'm ready if it happens. It doesn't always do it.
(MY RWD, 1 month old now)
I’d have it happen sporadically from time to time….. usually on twisty(ish) roads, but every now and again on a motorway it won’t like the position of a (big) vehicle I’m in the process of overtaking (or even sometimes a shadow), and will drop the anchors…
it’s still a lot better than it was 2-3 years ago, but every now and again it just likes to remind you that it’s not there yet…
