How did the Civic test drive go?

Car's fun to drive, sporty and all but for the price there's better option available in the market. Dealership never got back to me with trade in price. So I kinda gave up. Gonna wait for the Prius plug-in. If I manage to move out of my apartment to a house then definitely gonna get an EV.

Went to a dealer today, was advised that they are expecting to have 2 new trims for next year, which should be cheaper than the one they are offering now, he said it should start about 42k. That is going to be interesting to see

Same price as a fully electric car, mental.

Not that surprising when an EV at that price point is not subject to VRT and is net of €5k grant

Think they are only offering the advanced spec here so that means they’ll bring over the standard and sport version. Still a hard pass from me now.

I don't know if that makes all that much difference! 42k for a basic spec model! It is still a lot relative to what's available. I think Honda are gouging Irish customers.

I was in that basic version in Clonskeagh Motors last year. It doesn't have a full digital cockpit (nor does the mid-spec)! It has a giant analogue speedometer which is so weird to see in a car that expensive... or any car these days.

I wonder how the top spec model is selling or how long it takes to get one?

I checked availability with a dealer. They’re pretty much available immediately. He said he had sold three and got the cars from Honda in a week or so.

He gave a very good trade in price on a 191 civic

Looks a very nice car inside.

I was at my local dealer for a service and they had 1 car in stock. Like someone said, you wouldn’t know it was even a Honda showroom.

they said they aren’t probably getting in the new Civic as they themselves don’t see a market for it and that they were probably going to retire their dealership in favour of another car brand. I’ve been driving Hondas for 20 odd years and they have never given me an ounce of trouble and I’ve dealt with my local dealer each time. The guys seem very disheartened about the future of Honda in Ireland.

Saw one earlier in week parked in Waterford. Had to look twice (Was driving) but is an impressive looking car.

Have owned a few and been a fan of Honda for many years, never had an ounce of trouble. But would I pay over 40K for a Civic? No way, imo a Tesla Model 3 at just over €43K all in makes more sense..

Over 50k now for one of these. I seen one sold yesterday on Donedeal. Brand new. If it was me I'd have waited till January. Maybe they were stuck.

Didn't want to start a new thread but if you think the Civic is dear the new Prelude will cost even more when it's released here even though it's the same running gear in a different body. Well better brakes and suspension but still.

Stupid money. I'd imagine a lot of people must be buying a pig in a poke, dressed up with a lot of dealer BS regarding efficiency etc. Local dealer told me years ago, that the Jazz could go 60 km on battery. His exact words were that it could go to Portlaois on battery, which is 66 km😂

In fairness, at least they are consistent across the range, all their cars are stupid money now. It's the reason another Honda dealer told me they weren't stocking them anymore. They were going to concentrate on their other make.
