I really thought he let himself down at final tribal. From the faces of the jury, I was sure Tara had it. Enjoyed the reunion show a lot more than US version, probably because they swear! Just seemed to be more comradery there.

New season of Australian survivor started tonight...contenders vs champions. Champions coming from a range of backgrounds...Olympians, afl players, ex-army, astrophysicist etc and one Russell Hantz :eek:

I'll have to watch it now, gave up on previous attempts as it bored me to tears.

They'll probably just get rid of him in the first couple of eps though.

The guy was an ass but for pure entertainment / idol domination / competitor domination he'll always be remembered and I don't disagree when I see him on top 10 lists, he never won because he was playing against butthurt bitches not people who appreciate someone who plays the game to the limit.

God those first couple of seasons with him were Survivor in its prime, I used to be staring at the clock at work waiting to get home to it, last couple of seasons I just had them on in the background while browsing.

Wasn't sure if people wanted to be spoiled on the presence of Hantz (have they announced it themselves yet or are they officially revealing it tonight?) but I guess a few might be a little more interested. I still plan on going back and watching last season as I've heard very good things. Where does it rank compared to recent US seasons?

It's crazy how still to this day some see Hantz as one of the Greatest of All Time yet others think he deservedly won nothing.

He definitely deserves being in the top 10 for sure but it's his personality and being a huge asshole that cost him the win. I just don't think he can claim to be the greatest when he has yet to win (and winning the million is ultimately the goal lol) Any of the cast I spoke to admitted to being hurt but also said he was a complete d1ck and didn't deserve the money.

Yup they have officially announced the cast. Wonder who will recognise him and will they admit it if they do (in front of others I mean)...

Resurrecting this thread because I have become a huge fan of Australian Survivor during lockdown. I'm working my way through the old seasons on Amazon Prime; it's my daily addiction. Anyways there's a new season starting on 31st Jan, Survivor: Blood Vs Water, with family members playing together and a few returning faces (Sam and Mark, Andy). Should be good.

Anyone watching? I'm 5 in, and it's brilliant. Still better than the US version.

The whole blood vs. water dynamic is brilliant and gives this season a real heart.

Is this anything like classic Survivor (US) lads or is it full of the touchy feely crap its become in the last few years?

I haven't watched the latest US season and won't be either from the reivews I've read online.

No, it has the production values of the US version (same style, same music etc.) but with harder challenges and much more scheming, backstabbing and blindsides (the stuff that actually makes Survivor fun).

I way prefer it to the US version, they pull less punches in the challenges and I prefer the cast they choose. The US one has the stereotypical ditsy useless women whereas Oz seems to go for strong women moreso that make the challenges worth watching. Also the Australians are just a bit more rugged in general.

It's much longer too so it means you get to know the contestants. I watched the post Covid 'woke' US season and couldn't tell you any of their names at all.

US maybe. The last few seasons in Australia were Blood v Water, Brains v Brawn, Champions v Contenders, and an All Stars season.

I've watched the first 5. Pretty action packed, in fairness. George (walking around with his war wound) is as entertaining as he was the last time. I thought he would have been voted off really early, but he's hanging in there.

I can't believe the pizza reward was frozen pizzas. I always assumed they were given cooked pizzas!

Great season so far. 🙂

I've watched over 50 seasons of Survivor, from US, NZ and AU.

I think the Tribal Council in Episode 7 was the best I have seen in 800+ episodes of this show. Unbelievable.

I knew something was going to happen when they went to Tribal with 40 minutes left in the episode.

George vs. Simon is one of the all time greatest rivalries in Reality TV. 🙂

It was ridiculous last night wasn't it! OMG I want to cheer George on but still strangle him at the same time. As for Simon, he's getting on my nerves being honest but at the same time I was delighted he won the individual immunity. Can't wait for tonight's one.

Another great week this week. 6 episodes to go.

Plot twist with the vote reveal at the end (it wasn't Nina). I'm sure that'll come out tomorrow.

So sad about the episode 17 tribal. That person could have won it. 🙂

They had some great twists too, like voting out a jury member.

All in all, it's easily one of the best seasons of Survivor I've ever watched (across all countries)

I was way behind on this but just finished. A really enjoyable season, the right person from the final 3 won imo but I'd love for the final votes to be a bit closer. I only watch the AU and US versions of the show but the AU version is so much better these days in general imo, maybe it's the longer format.

FYI Season 11 just started in Australia. The 3rd episode is on today.

The theme is Titans vs. Rebels.

Titans are influencers, rich people, successful people...

Rebels are... everyone else? There is even a George clone. 😂

I'm up to date on this (up to episode 6)

I like Feras but he is 100% going to get blindsided. I probably said that about George in the early season last year, and that didn't happen... He has George energy though.

Kelli is good fun, but she's driving everyone nuts. Can't see her making it to the end of next week.

The sabotage mission was a bit of a damp squib though. It would have been more fun if Feras went over to the Titans.

Great season so far.

Home sick with covid, so I'm catching up on a lot of TV. 🙂

Powered through the last few episodes of this. The last 4 or 5 episodes are always pretty filler TV and not as fun as the start of the season.

I'm very happy for the winner - I didn't necessarily like them at the start, but they grew on me as the season went on (I'm keeping it deliberately vague to not spoil it).

One thing that bugs me about Aussie Survivor is that I can imagine the producers coaching the jury to look cranky for the start of final tribal. It always looks so forced and fake. Valeria is a dose too… Jesus Christ. 😂

Good season overall, but I think last year was better.

We have the final episode for tonight, after we watch the Apprentice final.

Valeria is an ar$ehole. I wanted to like her at the start but she was just nasty for the sake of it, presume to get more air time than anything.
