PAS hate giving out timelines because they don't actually know, so I think they're vague on purpose. I wish they would be consistently vague though. Either of those things could be true, or neither! I'm just trying to keep plugging away and not think about it.

Hi, i have my interview coming up shortly and i wanted to ask is the AO interview similar enough to the EO interview? Any major differences (apart from the presentation)?

Can anyone explain how the presentation stage of the interviews work (never done a presentation as part of an interview). I have an AO interview coming up which includes a presentation but you don't share your screen with the interview panel. I assumed you would, so they could see your slides etc?

Hi @BigElmo Thanks for the quick reply. This is what the email said which doesn't seem to line up with what you have said. "You will have up to 5 minutes to address the interview board on the presentation topic, followed by clarification with the Board for up to 5 minutes. You are not permitted to use any electronic aids (PowerPoint, etc.). or Flipcharts; nor are you allowed to share your screen"

I would like to add that this interview is not for the AO general campaign which this thread is dedicated to. It is an AO role though so i thought this thread would still be relevant.

@BigElmo It's the Revenue AO ICT competition. For a range of ICT positions in Dublin, Limerick and Castlebar I think.

I see 450 people were called to interview in the general AO 2021, but how many of those people were actually offered a job does anyone know? And what are the prospects for this year if only 5 people have been called for clearance by 1st Feb? 60?

I would imagine they will still take the same number of people over the course of the year, there are still lots who will retire each year who need to be replaced. I would also imagine they wouldn't have called Batch 2 for interview so soon if they didn't anticipate demand. Hopefully departments will start requesting new AOs soon!

In the meantime, whenever anyone hears an update to the OOM it would be great to post updates here as it will give everyone a little more foresight. I wish there was some little live countdown ⏳️

At last I heard, they had called up to OOM 5 on Monday

Hi there! I just had my interview towards the end of last week from batch 2. Anyone any idea when we're likely to hear results?

Should be, seen an email going around in July/August that DPER were looking for candidates for the 2022/2023 programme.

If you email clearance, they'll give you the updated OOM

Hey I emailed today, they gave an update based on my own number but they seem to have called eight for clearance so far.

I emailed last Friday also and nothing has changed since then.

Have they moved past 008 yet on the clearance for batch 1 does anyone know?

Last week they had called for clearance until the 8th OOM so seems it has sped up since then.

I'm in the 30-40 range batch 1 so might get news soon. I'm curious about what kind of departments are people getting assigned.

I applied to the Specialist AO competition just recently when it was opened and the timing is not good at all as I might be more interested in a role from that competition than this one but do you think is it still possible to accept a role in this competition and if an offer comes from the other then move to that other role even though it would be within the first two years? Not sure if anyone here could give some light on that.

I was called for clearance.

What is quite odd is they ask for the reference of your supervisor/HR in your current employment. I have never seen that before in the private sector and without any offer seems quite risky - who is going to ask their manager: "Hey boss, could I get your contact for a reference for a new job, I might not be quitting (or yes) but just in case". 🤪

It's not the private sector so it's not risky. They'd only be recinding the offer if your reference says you are serial killer who calls in sick every Monday without fail cos you're hungover and your entire CV is a work of fiction.

Also I had a q from a friend on the panel. How long is clearance taking for you guys? I think is OOM is around 80(?) Idk batch - hes not in clearance just yet.

For the person with the day to day q it depends so much on the department, but it would be junior policy work in most places. Writing memo, answering parliamentary questions, researching stuff, maybe some data work, projects. Other AOs might have a small team reporting to them, or work on projects. I've met a lot of AOs and it really does depend on the dept.

I've heard they're somewhere around late 40's, early 50's in the OOM for clearance.

Hey everyone, I was called for clearance but all I have been told so far is that the job would be in Dublin, no department given. Are others in the same boat? Or was everyone else given their department already.
