I saw this story in the independent the other day and couldn't work out why there wasn't a big deal made about it, it sounded horrific

    Now it makes complete sense.

It also proves that all the people who were suspicious about BLM and it's motivations were 100% correct.

This case can't be used to promote "Anti Racism" and therefore only certain black lives matter to activists in america which shows you how sleazy a lot of them are.

because most plebs dont make the connection that most cops are generally undertrained and, in the process of the training they do receive, are frequently predisposed to be more aggressive toward minority suspects. But for whatever reason, the Memphis police and government did the right thing and promptly in this case, didn't try and obfuscate or defend the actions of its officers or wait for any investigation or suspension period to act.

Just like all the other insinuations you just made about their race, these cops also don't match the national police union's preferred member. Or does racial innuendo only work one way?

I'm not saying the police force weren't wrong to dismiss them but how do you know they weren't wrong. Have you seen the video yet?

That whole thin blue line carry on is a disaster. Very surprising to see cops with an altered version of old glory actually on their uniforms & on display in police stations. I think it promotes a state of opposition between law enforcement and regular citizens. Flag etiquette out the window by those who represent it.

I think I should clarify what I am saying: not that these officers were at all correct, but that the police institution was so quick and willing to cut them loose with such force and immediacy at least in part because they were minority black officers and it was a politically expedient decision therefore to make, absent a groundswell of rightwing support seen for white officers as seen in eg. the George Floyd murder, since the OP has already referenced the BLM and staked an argument against whether or not millions of people protested peacefully and whether that counts against the hundreds, even thousands who didn't, or their counterparts be they wearing blue, all black and an umbrella, or an awfully strange and 'proud' street gang uniform. In that case, white officers were defended politically for murdering "animal" black suspects, for all manner of reason ranging from their 'thuggishness' to the criminal history of the victim.

Sounds pretty serious. Suspect fled and they caught him. Sustained beating by several cops against one man. As always, context and detail and video needed, but this doesn’t look good at all.

Not sure you can compare the George Floyd incident which was police responding to an incident to this:

    From RTE;

The five officers have been charged with second-degree murder, aggravated assault, aggravated kidnapping and official misconduct, Mr Mulroy said.

    Kidnapping?

Derek Chauvin, nevermind his accomplices is convicted of:

Yeah that sounds comparable. Certainly it is not being argued they are identical cases.

And I never said you inferred they were identical but much the same. But if kidnapping is involved then that would make this case much more serious imo. I mean Chauvin didn't kidnap Floyd in which case I'm sure the incident would have had a more swift response from his unit where any doubt about Chauvin's innocence would be much less in doubt including in public opinion.

I guess that will depend on the nature of the offense and how they concluded to charge them with that. While Floyd was not kidnapped neither was he lawfully arrested in sum.

While trying to look up how that happened, it turns out not even a couple weeks ago ANOTHER officer was charged with murder and kidnapping in memphis, he forced the SEPARATE victim into his car.

But I didn't find details for these 5 yet.

You could have at least put in a word of sympathy for the victim, or do you actually want people to think you are a baiting POS?

I think judging by the speed of everything and all the 'please don't be angry' messages the police are putting out that they are in serious **** due to the bodycam footage

Maybe I’m miss reading this completely but is Overheal trying to claim the cops were mistreated because they were black and shoehorn white racism into the thread?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 86,683 ✭✭✭✭Overheal

That's a fanciful way of missing the point yes you're misreading this completely. Cops who kidnap and murder someone aren't being mistreated to be prosecuted and fired.

5 African Americans assault an African American, is being racist against your own race possible or could an actual understanding of actual statistics be portrayed as being racist in their reasoning for their actions 🤔?

At yet all you’ve done in this thread is bring up instances of white cop brutality and compare how those cops were treated and try to tie that to their skin colour. This is a different case with different circumstances in different police departments.

It’s the second story on sky news, yet on CNN it’s way down after Ukraine, Israel, the vinny junior effigy, “the earths core is changing, what does that mean for us” etc. etc. maybe that will change with developments

Like most humans I am not a fan when an innocent person is murdered, that goes without saying....

However, seeing as the media and different forums were wall to wall George Floyd for a year, it seems very suspicious that a possiblly even more vicious attack is not even a headline story on CNN.

Moral of the story is, American cops are lunatics no matter what race and the real race baiters are BLM.

CNN has multiple editions, you are on the international one.

Some video is due to be released this evening.

    Apparently it is horrific.

That said no one is really surprised anymore.

In any case, I very much doubt this is going to have the coverage of George Floyd which was in the news for a year. It will be a semi-big story for a week and then hidden.

Its just another example of how Black people in America are not as discriminated against as certain sectors would have you believe.

Floyds murder was captured on high definition over a sustained period of time. It was beyond horrific and unique in the way it was documented.

Its just another example of how Black people in America are not as discriminated against as certain sectors would have you believe

I have lived in America and have a wide range of relatives there , I am acutely aware of the discrimination that exists in that country.

But good for you deciding what level of discrimination they experience. 👍️

You think the Police Department is racist for firing the black cops so quickly? Even though you think cops who kidnap and murder someone should be prosecuted and fired? Is that what you are saying?

I'm not necessarily disagreeing with you if that's the case. I think the cops shouldn't have been fired so quickly. It does look like very little due process was given to them even if they did wrong. It'll be interesting to see the footage. I hope they show the whole footage as in what led up to the interaction going South.

It's more likely they got the boot so quick due to the revelation they're a black-only police gang during the initial investigation.

    Well.

    This doesn't suit the narrative.

These race stories from America are click bait for RTE.

I see. Is it a top story on a different edition of CNN?

You'd wonder why there isn't any " peaceful" protests and outrage ??

Seems that BLM only maters in the instance of white police officer involvement or , if it suits the agenda of a certain political party .

Yes you can certainly treat different people based on their race differently, even if they are the same race as you. Only one race really anyway
