Was klopps not for abusing the 4th official or was it for leaving his technical area?

Not making this about Klopp... Just pointing out Arteta ain't the 1st manager to be vocal/animated on the sideline.

Find it hard to believe that Pep was the first premier league ref to ever get a yellow card. Bizarre if true.

I though Klopps was for physically assaulting the 4th official. Didn't he try to headbutt him?

Up there with giving out about other team's tactical fouls in the hypocrisy stakes.

There was a simple solution to the nonsense happening in the games at the WC. Add the time on. If you let teams do it then they'll do it. In the first half of the United game last night Van De Beek was down for 2 minutes injured alone in the 42nd odd minute. 2 mins added time and the ref didn't even play that.

Officials in the PL are a soft touch so the likes of Klopp and Pep set the example the last few seasons on pressuring them to their advantage and only reined it back when they began to be highlighted for it. Arteta has continued this tactic and has gotten away with it so far so why would he stop?

No I’m pretty sure Klopp caused grievous bodily harm to the official that day and was rightly reprimanded for it.

Pep only quietly and politely enquired about the reasoning behind a decision that day.

Arteta likewise is a saint on the sidelines.

No point talking about referees punishing coaches when lads like Madley last night can't control or tackle the players on the field. It was clear that both teams, but especially Newcastle had identified beforehand that he was a weak referee, and bullied him from the start. He was lost, completely out of his depth.

Both benches were outside the pale last night, as well as Arteta being outside his area both Tindal and Howe were up and about at or over the edge of their box all through the game, and both, Tindal in particular very vocal throughout, with plenty of interaction toward the Arsenal bench. This is not normally allowed as far as I know, certainly at LOI level only one coach is allowed stand outside the dugout.

Has to laugh at the treatment of Newcastle among the media and journalists, with their "sh1t housing' tactics of time wasting, diving and other cheating methods either ignored completely or treated as a source of mirth, eg on today's Athletic podcast. They are basically a slightly upmarket version of Burnley, but aren't treated like Burnley by the media at all (one would almost think that the journalists had something to fear from criticising the Newcastle owners or something 😉)

Kane was exceptional. Really needs to force that move in the summer.

Palace really are starting to stagnate.

United seem the obvious destination. Levy will still want big money even with 12 months left though

I actually think he could end up at Bayern, They were linked with him last year. Similar profile to replace lewandowski and the fact the leagues level is a bit below the prem means Kane could score a bucket load, win trophies and probably extend his career a bit, win win situation really.

He has never said it but I reckon Kane has his eyes on the all time scoring record,he'd have liked to be a bit closer at this stage but still doable.

Has had a bad run of managers, probably gets there easy if he got his move to city last year

Position wise it's about the same which is kinda why I used the term stagnate. They have no European goals or relegation fears to get them going.

The individual results this week are poor by their standards though.

Try to head butt him lol talk about making stuff up 😂😂😂😂

It's just because refs didn't literally give a manager a yellow until a few years ago.

Before it was just verbal warnings or sent to the stands.

I don't remember Burnley being 3rd in the league having beaten Chelsea and Spurs drawn with Man Utd City and Arsenal and lost 1 game form 18? This reminds me of years ago when Sam Allardyce's Bolton went to Mourinho's all conquering Chelsea and beat them and the media narrative was all about time wasting etc and Allardyce was asked about it he laughed down the camera and said hard luck lads. This is essentially the same the top teams don't like it up them and will whinge and complain when the opposition don't roll over for a belly tickling.

Yes, I think that's what'll keep Kane in the Premier League. When you see how Lewandowski and Benzema (who are both well into their 30's) are performing, there's no reason to think Kane can't continue to perform at the top level for at least another 3 or 4 years. For almost 10 years now he has consistently scored goals and been relatively injury free.

In terms of clubs he could move to, you'd assume it'll be one that's in the Champions League. So if he was to leave Tottenham this summer, potential PL clubs are Arsenal, Man City, Man Utd, Newcastle, Chelsea and Liverpool. Straight away, I can't see a move to Arsenal or Chelsea happening (I doubt either the player or club would agree to it). Man City, Liverpool and Newcastle all spent huge fees on forwards last summer, so I can't see them being in the market for another one this year (unless Newcastle go on a major spending spree).

So that leaves Man Utd. And to be honest it could be an ideal fit for both player and club. Utd desperately need a reliable striker. And they look like a good bet for a Top 3 finish this season so will have Champions League football and with the addition of Kane and one or 2 more new players should be in a position to challenge for major trophies.

What about Kane to Newcastle at some point?

So Kane to Utd stories for change. Is this year 9 or 10? Could happen I suppose. Maybe they’ll sign Modric and Bale too.

I'd like to stake my claim as an Arsenal fan who was extremely happy (and posted about it) when Liverpool got that winner. I had then entirely forgotten about Newcastle's nonsense until the other night, awful team to watch.

Its a PL issue too, the WC showed the solution but the PL's exceptionalism will take years to change it.

Nah its pretty different. Newcastle's defending was absolutely brilliant, I have no issue crediting them for that. But some of us actually want to watch a football match, and we lost about 30% of that watching players lie on the ground 'injured' or Nick Pope's 45 second goal kick routine.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,677 ✭✭✭doc_17

Newcastle, barring a spending spree in January, won’t make the top 4. Their lack of desire to win the big games will see to that.

Anyone know how to pronounce the new Chelsea lad? I'm guessing Baddy-a-sheel...

Sterling and now Pulisic gone off for Chelsea.

Chelsea are spending an absolute fortune.

Cancelo & Walker off at HT.

Cancelo has quietly been having a very poor season. Not highlighted near as much as other RBs would be though.

He was dropped by Portugal for the knockout stages of the World Cup and is struggling to break into the Man City team since the club season resumed. So obvious his coaches are not happy with his performances either.

Different city 2nd half since the changes. Rico Lewis looks a great prospect for just turning 18
