Surely the investigation is still in progress and just not complete yet.

I’m just assuming that there will be a statement when the investigation is complete.

For obvious reasons the investigation has to be rock solid so accuracy is much more important than speed.

I think the OP is quite correct. There was a lot of rumour and speculation in the days after this tragedy, some of which seemed to be of local origin and other by just people guessing at a remove. No wise to start listing these rumours again. So it's surely in the public interest to have the facts declared sooner rather than later, otherwise speculation and rumour will continue. A 'gas leak' is not a sufficient explanation.

This is like asking why someone isn't convicted a month after being arrested on suspicion of murder.

Or why you're not cured after an initial cancer scan or a few months into treatment.

The fire officer or gardai are doing it for families and insurance companies. If it takes time to establish a correct and professional answer, and rule other possibilities so be it.

It's not so our curiosity can be pandered to. And yes, public interest is a consideration, but that will come. The priority isn't you, I or a newspaper headline though

Have you considered the families and friends of those who lost their lives and were injured in this terrible tragedy and are still grieving before starting such an irresponsible thread? They will be the first to know the findings of the ongoing investigations and rightfully so.
