Walked from B&L to the end of the Carrickphierrish road and back there this morning. I ride horses myself and I don't mind the smell of horseshit but Jesus, the green area in front of the new houses is destroyed by the horses and the stench of horseshit all around the area is atrocious. That stench would definitely go into the new houses. I pity those people who bought those houses. Dirty hell hole of a road as a result of that halting site.

The more houses that get built over there, the less grass there is for that crowds horses so they are now starting to encroach more and more on anywhere that there's grass. It's honestly just a matter if time before they start to invade private green areas in any estates around there. They don't care. They tether the horses up to the walls/fences and leave troughs on the ground and everything. Horseshit everywhere and it smells brutal (and I dont mind the smell of horseshit cos I ride horses myself but I dont want that smell inside my house). It's worth taking a drive by some say just to see the state of the whole area. I really pity those people, looking out at that and trying to keep their kids from getting destroyed in horseshit and rubbish discarded by the "lads".

It really is a disgrace. I can only imagine how bad its going to become. Its like it's just been abandoned and thrown to the wolves. Nobody seems to care. Those apartments at the opposite side are in a bad state too. Its such a pity because the Gaeilscoil and Educate Together school is lovely and very well maintained but it stands alone on that road. I'm surprised with West, Genzyme and B&L that some pressure to stop the area going to the place its going wasn't exerted.

The poor disadvantaged ethnic minority, we should be privileged to have cap's on our walls, they don't even have walls. Check your privilege.

I'm sure that would be something along the lines of what the socialists that dont have to put up with it would spew.

Yeah, they really need to get together and at least try to get the situation improved. I find it absolutely incredible that within a couple of weeks of the estate being opened that they have taken over the front with their horses and removed caps off the piers to tether them. Also, there are loads of crap containers lying around to water the horses. I really can't get my head around that. I don't live up that direction but it just makes my blood boil to see how they lay claim to everything in that area, even neighbouring estates. Surely the council must drive by there occasionally and see it?

From what i have seen the sites and the surrounding areas only get wrecked after they move in.

Society doesn't owe you a living, if you want to live on the margins, knock yourself out but don't expect others to pick up the tab !

Any limited interaction I have had or seen is bullying, harassment and thuggery, I assume by the law of averages there are some decent people but Joe public doesn't see them and they are not vocal in criticism of obvious failings within the group.

unfortunately this does tend to be true, have a look over the wall opposite the bilberry site! but we cant ignore these type of issues, we ve more or less done the same amongst us settlers, and the outcomes are pretty much the same, increased dysfunctional behaviors including criminality, thats an us problem!

It is more than an Irish ethnic group that is the problem in Carrickpherish. There are very rough settled people after moving to the area also.

Just drove that way today. It will have to be taken in hand by residents to fix the things you mention, which are on the road frontages , away from the houses. It wont be helped by comments saying how rough it looks, no matter how well meant, IMHO.

my friend told me bout this when he was pissed, exept he said that they were going to build a place called carrickfergus.

Hopefully they wont mess up and actually make a town that works and dosen't become overrun with social problems.
