If this continues the way it has we will lose, there is no way we are going to sustain this defence for another 40 minutes especially when Skelton and Topou are still due to come on.

How do we get the right sorts of people to get to these games - not a patch on the Fiji Funeral - but the atmosphere is so poor, not aided by the nervy, tepid rugby on display. Don't think Ireland have been terrible but something's definitely not clicking, which has been the case in all three games in different ways.

Crap performance apart from defence. just a different side without Sexton. theres just no chance we win the World Cup.

Jimmy O'Brien showing himself for the absolute bang average player he is. we lose so much threat on the outside.

JGP not having a great game. Not surprising seeing as he is not long back and sexton not there.

Crowley has had some nervous touch kicking but otherwise has looked decent on his first start.

    JGP has been very poor

I dunno, I think we look very comfortable in defence tbh.

I think our exit kicking has been pretty poor (understandable with inexperienced 10 and wings) but the lack of territory is problematic.

Hopefully we’ll see more territory in the 2nd half, and I’d expect us to make more of it than Australia did in the first half.

Tackles made 139 to 41 is a huge difference so far, tho.

JOB has crabbed across the pitch a lot (to varying degrees of success) - would like to see him straighten up a bit. Especially when they're down to 14, it's counterproductive

Have to say Hansen has also looked bang average.

JOB is what he is. Average at allot of things. Bad at nothing.

Think folks need to chill out. Australia are inconsistent, but they're a good side, and they're making a contest of it. Not helped by how scrappy it's been, and O'Keefe hasn't helped in that regard, breakdown has been a bit of a free for all.

We're missing Sexton's direction, but our defense has been rock solid, Crowley has had a few nice touches, hasn't been exposed defensively.

I think we'll regather and iron out a couple of things at half time, expect a big second half, tbh.

Some real hyperbole going on here.

Yes, that was poor, but to say only Doris is turning up is ridiculous. If that was the case we wouldn’t be winning.

Ringrose, VDF, Beirne and POM standing up in defence big time and Jimmy O’Brien has been a huge threat going forward when he’s had the ball.

Although to be fair, Ringrose has been colossal in defence as well.

Is crowley carrying his right arm a bit? Or is it just his gatch?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,343 ✭✭✭leakyboots

Sexton isn't the reason we're playing crap. We haven't had much of the ball.

Heaslip and Horgan on prime. Are they actively trying to get people to switch off?

JOB is going sideways too much when going forward. Otherwise doing ok.

McCloskey has played himself off the plane to France

A few have said this, how much ball has JOB seen (apart from clearing kicks). He had one arcing run which did put Hansen into space. Then was at the tail end of a right to left move off scrum which he chipped?

    When has he run sideways?

an RTE scheme to have prime relinquish the rights and let the national broadcaster pick it up for small money?

  • Hosted Moderators Posts: 8,904 ✭✭✭fitz

I just think we look a bit nervy without him...he's a calming presence for us I think, as ridiculous as that might sound for such a cranky lad.

But yeah, we've had f*ck all ball. Sort that out and tries will come I reckon.

If you want to test out your defense systems this is it. Excellent so far.

As for offensive? Hopefully we will find out the second half.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,791 ✭✭✭✭aloooof

I don’t mind Heaslip as much as some people seem to, but Horgan always seems like he has to get the last word in…

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,873 ✭✭✭lawrencesummers

Crowley has done nothing wrong, thats what you want from a full debut and something that you can build on.

We need to get some territory here and it will show on the scoreboard.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,595 ✭✭✭✭CIARAN_BOYLE

He has had two big side ways runs that ended with Hansen.

The one where Hansen got in space he would have gotten in more space if O'Brien had of gone forward and passed.

Hugely disappointing performance. Can anyone honestly see this side win 5 games in a row against Tier 1 opposition, away from home? Because exactly that is required to win a RWC.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,579 ✭✭✭DBK1

Exactly what I was thinking. He’s getting all the names mixed up. Some incidents were looking at the second or third replay before he figures out what had actually happened.

Crowley taking it very flat to the line there, some nice phases
