In the Ukraine then, apologies for my lack of geographics

" clearly not the case". There's a vague statement. Dig deeper and actually read articles concerning the video. This is a screenshot of a video. If you see the full video, you can see the BPM-97's on the flatbeds. There are multiple articles online confirming this and also questioning the true nature of the train movements and its Cargo.

You were being a smartarse in an earlier post, and I'll put that down to immaturity.

Check your information before posting, young fellow, it's less embarrassing.

This mornings Rybar update from Kherson.

My prediction from a few days ago looks an awful lot like this, just saying 😎

And, he is not an Ambassador, contrary to what is being reported. He was sacked from that position this year by Zelensky for making inappropriate comments, so indeed, he has form.

True. This is the only picture available purported to be the Aircraft, apparently operating out of Groom.

Putin has been exposed as a total fraud these last few months but especially the last few days. All the nonsense about these new regions and defending them like it was actually part of Russia has been shown up to be BS. I'm beginning to wonder at this stage if he's actually a CIA agent working on the inside to bring down Russia such is the extent of his ineptness 🤣

Nikky Haley seems to think the Ukraine is almost there...

Not too sure exactly what she means and whether she thinks ultimate defeat for Russia is closer than we seem to think.

The sad fact is there's likely to be some compromise in the end. One that neither side likes or wants, or the crap will go on and on. The Russian side I give two hoots for, but they're in this mess and the major cause of it. We've enough experience in this country of dealing with the machinations and screwups of a larger power and dealing with such compromises, one that partitioned our island and country, which led to a civil war in this part and then a protracted civil war in the other. It's going to be a hard road for Ukraine to navigate that even when Russia buggers off.

I still think even with compromises Ukraine has won this war and won the second putin made his moronic run to Kyiv. And failed. Even if he'd taken Kyiv, he'd have still failed and his victory would have been a pyrrhic and temporary one. Russia has lost and lost badly, by damned near every metric there is. Even if they keep a chunk of Donbas and Crimea, they'll be looking down the barrel of innsurrection in both areas, especially Donbas for at least a generation. They'll also have to throw huge cash, cash they don't have into attempts to rebuild those areas and keep them sweet. For spin purposes if nothing else. How many bazillions has the UK fired into the North of Ireland since partition and it was still a powderkeg? Ramp that up massively for any areas Russia has taken in this war.

I've been thinking similarly. Whatever about the morals or pros and cons Russia has piled unbelievable mistake upon unbelievable mistake since this kicked off. Strategically, politically, economically, tactically. A comedy of errors if it weren't so bloody murderous.

Many worry about Artificial Intelligence. I worry far more about Organic Idiocy.

Looking at the maps blowing that might not hinder advancement too much. There's only a short detour around that piece of water. Mud I guess would be a problem

Obviously im not being serious but it does get one thinking as it's just one bad decision after another like a lad with a shovel who's trying to dig himself out of a hole. It just goes to show what kind of a grip he has on Russia that he hasn't been taken out of the equation at this stage.

The lads around him are worst.

They are angry he hasn’t used nukes yet.

Except poor Bill gets blamed for everything from mass spying to the Coronavirus, this gobshíte gets lauded as some kind of deity.

Yeah well i did say i was worried about him being taken out by the hawks but apparently that means i'm a Putinbot or Russia supporter.

The sad fact is the problem isn't Putin it's the whole system of governance in Russia and the thinking of a lot of people in those positions of power. Now these lads might be making these nuke statements to garner favour and begin to disassociate themselves with the botox dwarf and make themselves look like the next strongman leader or they may in fact be prepared to take that step, i guess we may find out soon enough.

The bottom line is there is something very wrong with the Russian mindset in general and it's been a problem for generations at this stage.

(Pasted from the Guardian, reported earlier this morning) Zelenskiy signs decree ruling out negotiations with Putin. President Volodymyr Zelenskiy has signed a decree formally declaring the prospect of any Ukrainian talks with Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin “impossible”.

“He (Putin) does not know what dignity and honesty are. Therefore, we are ready for a dialogue with Russia, but with another president of Russia,” Zelenskiy said on Friday.

I wonder will anyone in the Kremlin take the bait ? I'm not hopeful at this stage. Putin seems to have insulated himself well against the blunders made so far. It seems like a time-honoured tradition in Russia to blame someone else rather than just owning it. Then again, the punishments are severe it must be said...

In regards the whole Musk thing did you ever seen Ted Cruz or some other right wing jerk get dismantled by the likes of Jimmy Kimmel. Zelensky's a comedian by trade and is arguably the most popular man on planet Earth right now. Musk tangles with him at his peril.

As for Russia's military failures, this gives a very good broad overview for the layman and is worth the watch it you have an hour or so.

Short version of the video's conclusions - bad communications prevented proper coordination between different units, vehicles and military branches, which in turn made complicated tactical manuvers essentially impossible. Throw in bad logistical support and outright corruption at the procurement level and you're left with an accident waiting to happen.

Thing about dictators and dictatorships is that they appear strong, but they're awfully brittle. There's pressure on Putin, now, and he can only pray that it doesn't hit the 'crack' point, because if it does, it's over.

Ukraine flag apparently raised in Novomykolaivka in Kherson. The Russian are withdrawing to more defensible positions.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,132 ✭✭✭✭Francie Barrett

Seriously guys, do not give the Elon Musk thing any more oxygen.

Musk doesn't give a $hit about this war, regardless of whether it's Russia or Ukraine who's fighting. The literal only reason he tweeted yesterday was to distract from the fact that the Tesla stock price crashed after reporting problems. He knew these comments would deflect from the issues Tesla is having. He's done this crap before and will do it again with something else. Ukraine is just the handy current thing that was available for him to use.

I lost any respect I had for Elon Musk, which wasn't a lot to start with, after the debacle surrounding the Thai cave rescue. Not only did he stick his nose into something he knew nothing about, cave rescue, but insulted probably the most experienced and respected member of that community online by accusing him of being a pedophile when he was told his stupid mini submarine idea was a non starter. This most recent example just reinforces that.

Starosillya in Kherson reported as being liberated.

We'll be seeing a lot more villages liberated by the end of the day.

Putin is the whole system of governance in Russia. That didn't happen overnight, it took a long time, but the step from autocracy to totalitarianism was quick. Now the Russian people have very few options.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 146 ✭✭Wes M.

One of the things I'm most fascinated by is the Information War that is being waged on both sides, but especially on the Russian side. These past two weeks I've been paying more attention to the current affairs show that's excerpted here from time to time - and I'm never quite sure if this is the same program - the set is always the same despite the revolving door of hosts and panellists, but in the latest salvo of blame and invective, the male host seems to criticize Margarita Simonyan, chief editor of Russia Today, for her recent negative comments on strategy, which on the face of it smacks of old-fashioned male chauvinism, but it's surprising to see to such fault lines appear on the Kremlin's main mouthpiece. You get a sense that the internal wrangling is not being contained. I'm guessing that this opinion piece slipped by Margarita Simonyan, and she was none too happy....

Stupid site missed the quote that I was replying to. The person who said that Russia is concerned about the West learning about their aircraft was Declan Power
