Something to keep an eye on is Norris' form in the second half of the season.

He has had excellent starts to season but has fallen away in the second half. Hopefully he can keep his form up. If he's ever going to complete for championships he'll need to be able to keep it going all season.

    This too shall pass.

Norris is a curious one. He’s obviously a very talented driver, but I really can’t see him competing for championships any time soon.

The McLaren is nowhere near being a championship car and he’s in a long term contract there.

Also, there’s 3 young drivers that I would rate higher than him in Verstappen, Leclerc and Russell, who will absolutely be around for the next decade.

His career choices are going to define him, similar to Ricciardo.

It's also hard to know if he's taken a step forward the past year or two, or if Ricciardo has just taken a huge step backwards. I suspect it's a lot more of the latter.

I like the Ferrari on the rear wing.

I was looking for an old clip, it was suzi perry? getting stuck in heavy rain shower in the pit lane, while coulthard stood there with a big umbrella keeping himself nice and dry. Had me in stiches when coulthard complained about his leg getting slightly damp and she was stood there being professional soaked to the skin and shivering.

A few years ago, i thought it was channel 4 commentary, although when i googled it she worked at bbc so probably not, i might be misremembering who it was too, i think Spa but not sure at all about that.

Anyone remember what race / year it was?

Uhhh. The car looks good, but why do their promo images look like they were put together with MS Paint?

I suppose it makes sense the Ferrari logo is yellow after all.

The car does look good. Maybe they should think of having some yellow on there future cars.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

I don't remember that but she did get the live BBC presenting job after Jake Humphrey and coultard was still at BBC at that stage.

I still can't get my head around the slide Riccardo has had. Watching drive to survive in his red bull days and he literally had every team after him (although not many free seats) before he jumped to Renault.

Have to feel for the guy how much it situation has changed in 4 years (money aside!)

I'm sure it was suzi, coulthard and eddie jordan, jordan might of been under a shelter, or had a sensible rain jacket on, doing my head in, it would of been the race or qually, didnt watch FP

So if you buy tickets first they'll be cheapest and increase from then on? Bonkers..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,873 ✭✭✭McFly85

That seems like it should be illegal.

They know they’ll sell out Silverstone so why not just have a set price?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,021 ✭✭✭✭duploelabs

Because it seems like they've cash flow struggles. Get the revenue in good and early means they can commit to their spend on 2023

Suzi was never part of free practice coverage (neither was Steve Jones usually) I'm thinking it might have been USA 2015 which was a washout until Sunday. It was a highlights weekend and Suzi had to go on BBC Two live to explain why there wasn't any highlights.

    This too shall pass.

It's precisely because they know they will sell out that they will set the price as high as they can possibly get away with, and changing the price in real time based on demand is one way to do that. Telling people they need to buy early before prices go up is a sure fire way to make prices go up too.

It's pretty anti-consumer but from their point of view why wouldn't they make as much money as they can as long as there are no regulations to stop them. And you could argue that if they don't do it themselves then scalpers will.

It could have repercussions long term of course. I was reading an article recently about the Miami GP where the prices were astronomical, and it basically became an event for rich people to go party where the focal point became the concerts and the fake marina and all the rest, while the actual F1 race was incidental in the background. Some are concerned this will do nothing for F1 to actually cement its place in the US and you could see the same eventually happening in Europe if regular fans get priced out of attending.

ah shur best of luck to them, nothing like fcuking over your own fans, always works out in the long run!

I suppose. I think it would put me off going to Silverstone at all, and I’d look to book somewhere else - if I couldn’t get tickets early then I’d pretty much immediately feel ripped off.

There’s plenty of scope in F1 for reasonable tickets for fans while also bleeding rich folks dry. At Zandvoort last week, you could see a lot of the areas the paddock pass(€5k a pop) would get you. Fancy bars, great seats, and in one of the more bizarre events of the weekend, 4 trucks with filled with people who bought these tickets in the back doing a lap of the track and waving to the crowd.

But if you wanted a good seat and easy access to food and drink it was fairly reasonable.

The US I suppose is a different beast. It’s all about finding ways to bleed everyone dry. I bet Vegas next year will be eye-wateringly expensive.

    Here's the flag:

I have had this flag for 22 years.

    Found it, YEAY,

Belgian Grand Prix: Sudden downpour soaks BBC F1 crew - BBC Sport

Although it says it's not available on my device so i can't view it, tried with a UK VPN the same.

I dont think it is the whole thing, i remember there being a scene where they get soaked, then cut to her later and she is shivering hair plastered to her face and commentating like a pro, coulthard stook there like a class act totally dry.

Anyone got the full qually bbc show?

Nice, I have a mahassive Ferrari flag still that I got as a Christmas present in 95/6 and I still have my Minardi cap in regular use.

We were on family holiday in France when Total sponsored Jordan (93/4?). For some x number of petrol tokens you got a JordanGP tshirt. Anyway, we stopped at some random petrol station, myself and the aulfella professed our Irishness (and the French GP (magny cours) was on that weekend and we got the tshirt on the house (the garage owner was more pleased to talk f1 and Jordan than care about Total's purchase policy)

Total were the title sponsor of Jordan in 1995. They continued to supply Jordan up to and including the 1997 season.

So Porsche have officially pulled out of their intentions to enter F1 with Red Bull. It seems they'd wanted to go all in as 50/50 partners and that was on the cards a few months ago, but Red Bull themselves got cold feet amid growing confidence they can go it alone with Red Bull Powertrains.

So rather than becoming a full Porsche works team, Red Bull are instead looking for something more like an Alfa Romeo style deal that could involve branding and a technical partnership with a manufacturer that doesn't sacrifice their independence. A return to full Honda badging while developing the next iteration of the engine themselves seems like an obvious conclusion.

Porsche say the sport still looks attractive with the new regulations, but haven't made any other commitments. I'm sure it will take time for them to evaluate what other possibilities exist. F1 really needs to get back to the 26 car grids that used to be the norm, so I hope they consider starting from scratch, or maybe partnering with Andretti or something like that, but the sport seems openly hostile to actual new teams joining for some reason.
