Dangerous Amazon prime phone calls

I've had that call 3 or 4 times over the last few months. It's so obviously fake, I guess there are vulnerable people out there who fall for it though.

These calls have been going around for ages.

Amazon will NEVER EVER call you regarding prime membership.

The second you hear the auto voice say "amazon" hang up. The quicker you hang up, the quicker your number gets taken off their list

No, this is what NOT to do. The longer you stay on the more calls you get as your details are kept on their lists as active numbers. Next week it will be a different "company", then another and another.

Normally no, but the very odd time if i am actively expecting to be called back and i don't know what the number is that will call me, i have picked up.

Most of the time my phone is set to ignore unknown numbers, but i have to turn that off occasionally.

I had one last week and was stringing her along for near on 5 minutes, she lost the head, called me a 'fraud' and put the phone down, my good deed for the day done 😂

I got two of these 'Amazon Prime' calls today. One at 8am from an 086 mobile and one at noon from a landline with a Kildare number. I used to get them every day but recently I hadn't been getting any scam calls. One particular spam call I got a few months ago was from supposedly from Eir. I repeatedly told them I didn't have Eir, the guy on the phone said it didn't matter. I played along and they tried to talk me into installing some software that would give them remote access to my computer. Eventually I said do you think I am a fool, I know what you are trying to do. The guy on the phone responded with a tirade of foul language and called me every name under the sun. I simply laughed at him and told where to go. He then hung up. Brightened up my day.

Some scams only need to hold you on the phone to rob you, the best course of action is not to answer calls from numbers you don't recognise. I've been doing this for years and I've been getting through life just fine. If it's important they'll leave a message or call back.

And I answer my phones with no loss or injury every day. Scammers are few enough but I drag their calls out as long as suits me. I could not live my life wary of answering unknown numbers and I'd miss an awful lot of genuine calls.

Care to elaborate on how these scams that hold you on the phone to rob you work?

That just gives them more time wasters to phone. A self defeating logic on their part.
