Why sell on numbers that aren't successful and wasted your time? Sell on one's that fall for the spiel perhaps but not those who easily twig a scam. It doesn't make sense.

I'll continue to listen to the advice of the experts not anonymous posters on a forum. Who knows what new scams are invented in the future.

Fair enough and I'll continue to not live in fear of answering a phone call.

I've noticed that EVERY time I get an Post delivery, a text appears the next day asking for a fee otherwise the delivery won't be made. Obviously dodgy as I have my parcel, so instantly deleted. But I wonder how the scammers know that I am getting an Post parcel that very day! Weird.

That has happened to me but it was a genuine text from an post. If the text contains a link to pay then it is a scam. If it contains a tracking number and tells you to go to the An Post website to pay then it is genuine.

Yes it's a link to pay, no tracking no. etc.

I still wonder how the scammers know the exact day I got the parcel!

I have been getting a few amazon refund scam calls over the las few weeks. I usually keep them on the phone for 20-30 minutes. I pretty much know the script and how to delay the call, so it does not take too much effort on my part.

Top Tips: Get them to spell out Anydesk when they ask you to install it. Have fun using different phonetic alphabets. When they ask for the nine number code, do the family guy thing (consuela family guy phone number). If they are Indian, use offensive language that involves incest. For their culture, this is most offensive (madarchod, benchod are easy to remember).

Why do this? - Keeping them on the phone for as long as possible means they are not scamming others. It becomes less profitable for them. The operator may even eventually decide to do another 'job'.

Check out Kitboga and other scambaiters on youtube. Some of them are hilarious.

Of course, Don't actually install anything or follow their instructions!
