Duty Free cigarettes

Just wondering what exactly the limits are as got pulled on exiting the airport with 600 cigarette between 2 adults after a flight from Tenerife. Customs officer said it was 200 per adult.

Family got taken aside and rifled through every suitcase, customs told us they were going to seize the cartons of cigarettes but after apologies profusely they let us go. Don’t smoke bought them for someone else so haven’t a notion of limits.

edit: I did Google limits while in Tenerife and it stated 800 was the limit so I thought I was well within that.

Because the Canaries are duty free you’re only allowed to bring back 200 cigs or 250g tobacco.

If anyone is interested Stena are now doing day trip duty free trips for 16euro adult /8 kids

3 1/2 ferry crossing, few hours in wales then straight back, on board they tend to sell you what you want and just ask if you're aware of limits so its a risk bringing it through, a LOT cheaper than the airports too, and a day out for the kids in the summer

Not sure about Cigarettes but 250g amber leaf/GV is 50euro or 500g Lamber & Butler tobacco is 90euro

Just wondering if it's cheaper to buy say 5 packets of Amber Leaf in an Irish airport or on board Ryanair? Thanks!

There was none on plane on recent return flight from Canaries and I think 2 packs Amber Leaf on way out

Fags were 40eu for 200 on a ryan air flight last week (liverpool to dublin) weren't offered

on the dub to liv flight though

They didn't say what they had

In Liverpool airport 200 purple silk cut were £64/400 for £103

I bought a pack of 600 for the mother which were pretty reasonably priced

in comparison at £135/159euro

€92 for 500 grms Amber Leaf (10x50) in a normal downtown tobacconist in Alicante Spain a month ago.

Over €100 in Alicante airport duty free shop.

Yeah for sure. Just a pity Ryanair have a tiny selection

No that was years ago. It's eu and same as all EU countries in regards to tobacco quantities.

My wife is Bulgarian, so I am over there alot. Worth a visit. Some nice places to see and cheap food and drink.

Just on boat now, Stena Dublin to Holyhead, 10x50g of Amber leaf or Golden Virginia is £100 (€122), that's €12.20 per pouch when equivelant in shop is €35.

400 Silk cut/jp blue/marlboro is £90

Stena also do a day trip duty free offer, leaving dub at 08:00, 2hr in Holyhead then arriving back in Dub at 18:00 for €16
