I put down for Dublin and Meath and like others don't know which this is for. They don't say it on the notification correspondence. If I get through I'm happy either way.

i would say it be this week we hear back, maybe Wednesday or Friday

It's usually a Friday in my experience, PAS dont like to deal with the queries and people tend to mellow over the weekend so less backlash!

Hi all, I am drafting up my examples for the Stage 2 video interviews. I was just wondering if the addition of dates and timelines of when I served in the applicable roles woukd be beneficial? I am trying to stay within the allocated time but would be interested to know if people stated dates prior to giving their examples. Thank you

Nope, would be my advice. They'll have your application form, which should have the dates anyway, and what they want is your examples, not dates where they'll have to do maths to work out you were 2.75 years in a role. So just state that... "I had X role for almost 3 years, and while there, I...", if that makes sense?

I applied for Dublin and Laois but invitation does not say which you are being called for. I assume its Dublin.

Same here. It seems a bit too late in the evening to get anything now. Another long wait until next Friday.

Hi there, I would be grateful if someone could explain what the Strategic Analysis exercise consists of. Thank you kindly.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15 Laggy67

I think its a presentation based on a topic they give you

    Hi TaurenDruid,

What training course/company did you use for the interview training?

    Thanks!

Any non public/civil servants who have been through the interview have any advice? Does the panel ask much about knowledge of civil service etc

    Hi,

Can anyone who has been through the interview tell me is it on Zoom or face to face?

Also, I'm through to interview stage, but is this depending on the report I send through i.e. I may not get interview if I dont pass report stage? I'm looking into interview training but dont want to invest if I still may not make it through to interview.

    Thanks

The most recent ones have been zoom can't see it changing in the short term. The strategic analysis exercise is presented at the same time as the interview. You give a presentation and the board ask questions on the topic you chose, both elements of the interview the S A exercise and the competency questions are marked separately.

    Thanks very much @housebuyer18.

So the report and slidedeck is not another step in the process, its part of the interview process?

Would you say the SA presentation and questions from the board on the topic chosen take up 50% of the interview, the rest is competency based questions?

I read somewhere on this thread the SA exercise is 30% of the marks.

I have just received the green light for interview stage but not any of the details, so just trying to get ahead of understanding what comes next.

    Thanks

Yes all part of the one interview. I'd say the presentation and questions on it take up around 15 minutes and the remainder of the interview approx 40 mins is competency based.

You will receive your topic choices for the exercise I think about a week before and you have to submit slides and briefing doc a couple of days before interview.

    Best of luck!

Thanks for your advice. Can someone recommend interview training person/organisation ?

I went with Carr Comunications, and found it really useful (I was successful at interview).

Does anyone have the original job description for the AP role that they could send me please?

    Thanks

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 150 ✭✭Brera

Haven’t been through the AP interview yet but in previous civil service interviews the values of the civil service question usually comes up in one form or another

For my previous presentation for the HEO interview I was asked stuff about who I would be reporting to and interactions with other departments etc. So having a brief knowledge of the structures was useful.
