A Hugh congratulations to the footballers,I heard all three teams will be honored next Monday hopefully in the best of circumstances. Is it true all the trains are sold out.

Looking more and more like we'll be 30c, maybe 28c in Croke Park Sunday. Hard to say who that will effect more.

Water break reintroduced maybe! Hottest Sunday I was in Croke Park was 20 August 1995, 28C. Dublin v Cork football.

    Lads

I would not make that big an issue of Kilkennys win the the U20 Final. After all Kilkenny beat basically that Limerick by all of 12 points in the corresponding game at Under 17 Level.

Cody always like to throw a curve ball for all Irelands. Just a tweek that we didn't see coming. In either selection or positional.

Could Fogarty get a recall ,and kenny join them as a third midfielder with browne. Dropping mossy or Ryan to have a very physical midfield.

I expect padraig to start and see 40mins.maybe spring Ryan then .

Hearing word donnelly is in bother and might no make the 26 which would be a big loss.

Leahy and Wally will see game time .

Had heard the hogan rumours about he going well.apparently mikey butler may have put a end to that.would love to see him involved.

Paul Murphy mentioned the Hogan Butler thing in last weeks OTB podcast alright

Just looking at the football team, congrats by the way, i expected more from the Railyard. Only Philip Roche (from a family of 15 he must be early 40s) on the subs.

To me Kilkenny's best win in u20 was against Galway in leinster semi final....Game seemed to be gone a few times that day but they never gave in.

Anyway I don't think that's the week to be discussing that.

Going to see a specialist this week about his breathing. This has being going on a few years. He hasn't kicked on the way we all expected but this certainly hasn't helped.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,905 ✭✭✭blackcard

That would leave us with very few forwards on the bench. Alan Murphy, Richie Hogan....?

  • Registered Users Posts: 600 ✭✭✭Marrooned

Still heard nothing about the trains being sold out and if so would there be another train put on.

The offally match was a help the first day.Shine was a loss In the galway match and I'm looking foward to seeing these lads progress at club level. We rode our luck at times but every team needs a bit of luck, galway missed penalties and wexford missed a late chance.Conditions were bad that night but that galway match took its toll because we faded badly in the leinster final as expected. The panel was strong and the subs worked in the matches. I know the rule was stupid and the 3 teams we played were missing key players but there's no doubt Billy drennan, timmy Clifford and a few others were good enough for the senior panel but cody made the right decision let them concentrate on this because they'll have enough time playing senior hopefully.Cathal o neill has got game time for Limerick but the others seen limited game time for their counties.John Murphy deserves credit it was the first time in a long time we were physically up to it. I know next year's panel have being given a programme to work on. I would like to Sean Purcell getting a run in the league next year.It will be great for these young lads to get the recognition Monday night hopefully we'll have 3 cups at nowlan Park 🤞

This is the one this limerick team want. Should be going for 5 in a row but kk derailed them in 19. This is the one to even that score and is the one I feel limerick will be very up for similar to kk getting their 4th over tipp. Tipp was the trophy head they wanted then same as limerick want/need kk now.

It should be a close and physical contest but kk just done have enough punch up front. Cody is the only real threat from play. Mullen will be swallowed up out the field.

Also re u20's... All of kks opponents were without their best players... Great win but should be put into that context.

"Should be going for 5 (4 I think you meant) in a row but kk derailed them in 19."

Bullshit comment, should be going for 4 in a row 😂

They weren't good enough full stop, they won't do 3 in a row either.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,905 ✭✭✭blackcard

With all the players that Lk should have been sent off over the last few years, Lk should be going for 1 in a row. KK deservedly won in 2019 and were unlucky in 2018.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,720 ✭✭✭Grats

Regarding the under 20s, the players with most potential are underage again next year. It would have been irresponsible of Cody to bring them in to the senior panel at such a young age. If Cody is still around next year I'd imagine some will be brought in to his senior setup.

  • Registered Users Posts: 474 ✭✭Butterbeans

They may want it, but they still have to win it. And any talk of 5 in a row is nonsense, they would have only for the opposition!!

Kilkenny forwards showed plenty of punch the last day, surely against a dysfunctioning Clare, but there was hunger, savage workrate and accuracy. We've been improving incrementally since the Wexford game, and we'll need further improvement to have a chance, but we have the forwards to do damage. I'd have no fear for Mullen, he's having a great season so far and unless he's man marked I don't see him being curtailed.

Re U20, if this same standard is gonna be held against every future U20 winning team, sure what's the point of the competition? The rules are the same for every team so it's a level playing field. You can only play what's in front of you. We're the U20 All Ireland champions, and trying to undermine that is petty.

Could be going for 5 in a row yes but saying should be is off the mark, its small margins if it wasn't for Quaid's brilliant flick on Harnedy they wouldn't have won the 18 semi final, there's alot of talk about the line ball in the game in 2019 but i taught Limerick got the rub of the green over the 70 mins in that game from the ref including a very soft penalty. For what its worth i think Sunday could along similar lines to the Limerick Galway game where Limerick grind it out after an almighty battle.

I'm sure Limerick wont leave Mullen run free like Clare and Galway have. I was surprised Henry left Darren Morrissey on TJ, much to strong for him in the air and ground and obviously Clare didn't learn anything from the Leinster final and left Flanagan on him. Opposition need to put someone on TJ that TJ cant muscle off the ball especially in the air. If Limerick curtail TJ and Mullen which is a challenge they really need big performances from the other forwards, if not they will struggle to get enough points on the board. Galway were excellent against Limerick and put in there best performance of the year by a mile. But ultimately had to rely on spectacular points from distance to keep the scoreboard ticking. Kilkenny do not have that luxury from distance imo

Limerick got the rub of the green 2018 if Kilkenny had to get the penalty in that match who knows what would have happening, the ref stood down from inter county referring due to that match. limerick keep going back to the line ball 2019 should it have been there ball in the first place no the rest is history.

With COVID still lurking are the county team going to allow fans in for the last training session?

  • Registered Users Posts: 269 ✭✭Nedflanders02

No there will be no open training sessions before Sunday

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,894 ✭✭✭Brian017

Why are people discussing the legitimacy of the U20 win a month later? All teams were aware of the rules at the start. At the end of the day Kilkenny are u20 champions and that's all that matters.

The referee stood down of his own accord because he was not appointed referee for the All Ireland final that year. Obviously lying is second nature to you.
