Modern medicine is brilliant, and innovative and everything else. But it's a double edged sword...

I actually hate that a sport I love has so much of this disgusting amoral scumbag's influence. "When you make a mistake, you need to get out of it". The expression is "you need to own up to it", not wriggle out of taking responsibility, you cretin. And the "mistake" is killing tens of thousands of people, which he thinks Putin didn't intend and is Zelensky's fault anyway.

Im actually furious watching that clip. I wish harm on a person like that. He's too old and too out of touch with morals to have influence in the world.

Of course he was wrong. There are no rules to the clothes that anyone can wear. People should wear what they feel comfortable in and be happy.

I pity anyone who has never tried a dress or a skirt.

I'm not even going to bother watching it tbh, 2 quotes were enough.

To b honest I have no time for Bernie and never had. But is it any different to the current sports-washing of Saudi and Bahrain?

I would prefer to see F1 return to its' routes and to the classic circuits of the 60's. But that is not going to happen because money dictates where it goes.

How long did the Ukraine protest last? A week

A drug-addled ex-con bites the dust. We never hear the end of it.

Well to a point. There has to be an amount of nurture as well as nature in the rearing of a kid.

To be honest it wouldn't surprise me if boy/girl baby clothes were soon frowned upon seeing as the baby couldn't possibly make the decision so why dress as boy or girl.

Apparently the expiration of windtunnel and other aero testing expired today so there will be a lot of changes coming up in the second half.

Red Bull still sculpting their car.

I'd love to see a video explaining the process of identifying, designing, then building and fitting upgrades like this.

Something like a behind the scenes report, starting with the designer coming up with a new part, then through to showing how these parts are actually made (e.g. how the sculpted bodywork is formed) and then finally being fitted to the car.

I know there was talk here recently that F1 were thinking of going back to Africa. I wonder would F1 consider going to the track in Marikesh in Morroco?

It is in Africa it is 2.9km long and it is a very good track built to a fairly high standard too by the looks of it. Formula-E race there and are racing there this weekend.

They were talking about using some old track in South Africa or else making a new street track. I'm not a fan of using silly old tracks from yesteryear. They tend not to be suited to the cars and make for poor racing. Paul Ricard, Zandvort and Monaco being 3 big offenders.

I hope they either build a proper track suitable for modern cars, or strike it lucky with a good street circuits.

Watching it now that track is about as suitable for F1 as Mondello.... FIA / Liberty plan is to upgrade the Kyalami circuit to FIA grade 1, it's had a lot of work done recently enough so wouldn't be a big ask.

Would really make it a world championship then, races in 6 continents!

I really wish they would get some proper tyres. The race today was clear evidence that the cars can follow when it comes to the aero, like within a second for 3-4 laps but when they make the overtake having "looked" way faster it turns out they're not really. The tyres are such a limiting factor, if they were given proper ones the back-and-forth racing would follow quickly.

One that doesn't fall apart after a few laps. The cars can follow better this season and it's not as bad as before but following still uses up tyres. Even today most of the exciting racing was when they had the chance to go full tilt because of the safety car. 90+% of everyone's race is driving to a target still.

Today's race and Abu Dhabi last year were the first time in many years that I ended up shouting at the telly in excitement. F1 fans love to moan and make out that it was always better in the past, but I think right now it's the best it's been in a very long time.

The new car regulations work, simple as that. The way Leclerc was behind Sainz in previous years you would have guessed he was a good couple of seconds a lap quicker yet when he overtook it took him 2 laps just to break the DRS.

There's a lot of car parts shattered, as carbon fiber does, so a lot of tyres were being degraded abnormally

How disrespectful of Carlos to celebrate his first ever win like that when poor Alex Albon is in hospital fighting for his life.

    Just kidding, Albon is fine.

    This too shall pass.

Well remember a few years ago when they gave people tyres that were like rocks and had zero degradation? People then complained that it took away a skill of looking after your tyres. So Pirelli went back and made the tyres softer, then people complained they fell off the cliff. You cant win

I liked the idea of tyres with proper degradation but they're just too delicate. The softer compounds especially (think this weekend were the hardest 3) are just gone with a couple of corners of over-driving and can take a lap or two to cool down but they've already lost a lot.

I really liked the tyres that just dropped off a cliff. Made for very exciting races until the teams figured out that characteristic.

I heard next year they are banning tyre blankets so it'll be interesting to see what effect that will have.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,315 ✭✭✭✭Frank Bullitt

Sounds like 2 teams have exploited a loophole in the regulations around flexing the plank. Red Bull and Ferrari were/are opposed to new tests coming in at France, sounds like poor Toto was pissed off when he heard about it…probably because his team didn’t think of it themselves.

Hopefully this doesn’t change up the order, if teams have found a loophole then so be it, it’s happened before and will probably happen again. It’s around how RB and Ferrari mount the plank to the car, and have exploited a loophole they can use with the ride height.

Think it was originally going to happen this year but was delayed. I think it could be class. The cars on cold tyres for a couple of laps will shake things up. It might kill the undercut pit strategy though. So that's a concern.

    Spa on the chopping block.

    Translated:

    Provisional F1 calendar 2023:

    - Season starts on March 5 in Bahrain

    - 23 races or 24 races depending on China going ahead

    - Belgium and France the provisional dropouts

    - South Africa also on calendar

    - Las Vegas on November 18

That's crazy to drop Belgium one of the best and most entertaining tracks on the Calander. Could they not just have it in June or July?

The consensus on Twitter is that (unsurprisingly) it's all about the revenue it brings in. Despite it being the 6/7th highest attended GP, it has relatively few grandstands and most tickets are GA.

Joke of a decision, I think most people would have Spa up there with the likes of Interlagos, Silvestone & Suzuka. Whatever about the French, but no Spa and German GPs next year show the direction Liberty are taking with F1. All the street circuits being added really are to the demise of actual racing.
