The simple fact is that most of those who want to push this as an issue are doing so in bad faith - as an attempt to portray "themmuns" as uniquely heartless and disgusting.

For every horrible instance of bigotry from one side, there's one from the other.

In fact the nationalist side seems much more willing to glorify those who killed civilians during the Troubles, and votes for the lineage of that "tradition" in huge numbers.

Happens down here too - remember David Cullinane shouting "Up The Ra" after being elected in 2020. He couldn't help show his true colours.

Those who call out that shite from their side can't be taken seriously unless they do so from "our" side, and back it up with actions, as in, not voting for those who glorify that shite from "our side".

This forum has loads of closet and not-so-closet Loyalist sympathisers. Interesting to see that few of them have condemned this recent offensive bigotry. Even Jeffrey Donaldson publicly condemned it.

SF supporters (and I'm no longer one, for the reasons I explain here *) are required to ritually abase themselves whenever an allegation implicating an SF person is in the media.

Initially yes - the IRA re-armed to protect nationalists from Loyalist violence as the NI authorities were doing nothing - but acts like the bombing of the Enniskillen remembrance day and the pub bombings cannot be supported by any ethical person..

It's a quare strange "celebration of Irishness" to celebrate those who murdered civilians with impunity.

Bizarre. If the same self loathing Irish posters that use this site went into that kip it would literally take 30 seconds before one of these drunken scumbags would try to beat the absolute living hell out of them, no matter how much they would profess their hatred for SF or even their own country, language, accent or culture, these scumbags would still try to inflict the maximum amount of harm upon these Irish self loathers, and these posters would still come back after the experience blaming everything and anyone except the drunken thicks actually involved.

The IRA did a bloody good job of "cleansing" areas of decent Catholics who stood up against their bloodlust.

Yeats adored the culture and folklore of Ireland. It's inherent culture, its indigenous culture and the people who made it up. How that equates him to the likes of you is beyond me.

Both extremes are as bad as each other. But a higher percentage of Catholics up there vote for extremists than Protestants do.

You are the one rattling on about the IRA not me. But you at the same time want to somehow defend an organisation that within its very make-up and actual existence abhors your culture, your identity, your language and even your very right to even exist. So yeah, if you do want to defend it, any part of it, you are indeed a self loathing Irishman.
