Just defeated the griffin. So far deathmarch is not the terror I was made to believe online Although it helps that I've played the game twice before and have nearly 500 hours in it so I know the mechanics inside out and what Geralt can handle early on. One thing I think CDPR needs to improve on is the economy in their games. I didn't notice how stingy it was the last time I played because I 100% all the maps (yep, all question marks) and so had about 100,000 gold by the end of my second playthrough, but seeing as I'm mainly beelining it (with side quests to get me levelled up enough) to get the Death March trophy I'm finding I'm constantly broke.

Have a look at the poison build i think it was called. I played blind on my first time though it when it came out on deathmarch and there were 2 real pressure points, where you are now maybe the Botchling fight and the second to last boss fight I think, sorry can't recall the name now it's been ages.

Outside of that it was fine, liberal use of Quen. Leaving stuff till you've levelled up etc.

When I played it the second time for the GOTY edition I breezed through it with the build I mentioned, I'll see if I can find it and post a link if I do, but pretty sure it was poison build something or other.

Both times I did all the achievements in one run which was some fluke on my blind first run as there are a few things you can mess up with side quests etc.

On the cash flow in the game I've something in the back of my mind that it was an issue early on but wasn't really a problem for me later, you do have to sell stuff but not really go out or your way to farm as long as you pick everything up as you go.

Death March is still a walk in the park, even without Quen. Dodge roll attack, dodge roll attack, ad infinitum.

Much prefer being skint than having access to everything. The economy is great until you get to Novigrad and trade in all the currency at the bank. Then you can just fill your pockets when you want.

Deathmarch isn't that hard, it is just irritating until about 30% of the way into the game, then the difficulty is just fine and it stays like that until the final boss when it goes back to irritating.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,307 ✭✭✭The Phantom Pain

I'm getting worried because so far Death March is so easy that I've had to check that I haven't accidentally turned the difficulty down a few times. I'm not even using oils or potions, just some upgraded quen and some points in fast attack (I always do a quen centric build).

Yeah, tbh I'm probably just being a little impatient. It's annoying going from a point where money was not even on my radar to suddenly actually having to sell items for cash.

Thanks for the offer and no offense but... looking at the trophy list there is no way the platinum, itself, can be done blind on the first run. It's not just the missable side quests (you just have to make the right decisions) but the trophy where you have to get 50 headshots is notorious for its terrible hit detection (hence why it's the rarest amongst trophy hunters) and there would be a certain way you'd have to get it to work, and you'd likely have to turn down the difficulty too. Then there are the ability specific trophies that will require at least 1 or 2 potions to reset them. Lastly, one of the most easily missable trophies is defeating two Witcher contracts without using signs, oils or potions...When you say 'blind', do you mean, rather, that you completed the campaign blind and then when deciding to go for the platinum you looked up a guide to get the remaining trophies? That's what I tend to do, personally.

Also, I did the botchling fight the other day and it was as easy as I remembered it. You don't have to fight the botchling if you make the right choice and the wraiths can be taken care of by spamming dodge and quen. If it keeps on like this it's gonna be a pretty smooth road to platinum. :)

When ye are doing these runs are ye doing all the side quests as well?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,307 ✭✭✭The Phantom Pain

My first two playthroughs I did all the side quests, treasure hunts and contracts. For this one, I promised myself that I'd only do the bare minimum to get to the end of the campaign but I'm already spending hours obsessing over gwent and getting the best cards so let's see how that works out...

Yeah taking a couple of years/months (heck even weeks if you ask me) break with a game and jumping back in doesnt really work out too well with games these days. Unless its something like Super Mario..

I would also recommend a restart, although if you can see yourself doing the same thing again after awhile, you should probably focus on more linear/shorter games.

^^That pic is so spot on:P

Pretty sure im at the end or very close now,
Currently rummaging through Avallac'h's room, feels like it building up to the end now

Ive logged ~80hrs so far, spent the last few before this next mission gathering a superior set of wolven gear,as i feel im coming toward the end of the main quest thought it would be nice to have a decently upgraded set, even if on normally difficulty i havent had anything to really test me other than Ifrit(Is there any way to avoid damage and kill these?) in the last while

Rather stupidly i was building random pieces of witcher sets while not focusing on just one so i did have to grind a few mats and coin but got there in the end. Ill go straight to the DLC when the main game is done i reckon. Be nice to see a new setting at this point.

The game has its flaws but ive generally really enjoyed it.

IIRC, a mixture of using some dimeritium ombs, elementa oil for the sword and Aard to blow them out. Google says to use Northern Wind, but I've no recollection of what that is! And Quen to avoid 1 hit anyway.

100th platinum done. Just got to clean up some of the DLC trophies now.

I have a lot of thoughts about this game and how I never realised how much my love for it was reaffirmed by my previous positive perception of CDPR. It's kind of sad that when I played Cyberpunk I went, "hmm, this doesn't feel like a game made by CDPR" but then when I returned to Witcher I went, "hmm this doesn't feel like a game made by CDPR".

I don't think a company should ever be defined by its lowest point especially because as far as low points go Cyberpunk is still a very good game but it's just not the The Witcher 3. This is in the conversation for one of the greatest games ever made but I'd be lying if I said the way CDPR have conducted themselves of late didn't somewhat taint my perception of it. I know that's not fair on the game but I can't help it. So while I still love The Witcher 3, I'm not in love with it anymore. The honeymoon phase is over. I hope that makes sense.

Finished the main game story line last night. Lvl 35 and moving onto hearts of stone now.

Interesting start, few decisions early that feel pivotal. No idea how there gonna turn out but I feel there's a weight to them. Feel like I'm trying to make the best of a bad situation.

Combat.....its tough,in the sense that its a bit boring. 90+ hours into the game and I'm feeling the strain of it. Fancier swords armor become less and less important as there simply and indulgence, not needed.

Travelling the world has become quite mundane too,all to often I'm now looking for the closest fast travel point rather than thinking I'll enjoy the trek.

Small slights on what for me is a great game. As a total package it's quite good. Just some areas where they could have improved for me.

I envy you playing that expansion for the first time. Heart of Stone is one of my favorite expansions of all time, up there with Opposing Force for me

Both DLC are awesome, probably the best DLC I've ever played. Their as long as a lot of main campaigns in other games.

Didn't see it having its own thread but I finished Thronebreaker today. Brilliant game and would highly recommend if you had a passing interest in Gwent in the main game and are into the whole Witcher universe. The version of Gwent is very different but the presentation is top class. Really good story, characters and narration really make the game. I've several of the Witcher books finished at this stage and noticed several nods to stories and characters in the books which you would completely miss otherwise, nice touches.

Surprised we're not already full of "watch it take 10 years and still be rushed" comments, but Cyberpunk really, really did a number of CDPR's goodwill that it looks like people are just over it rather than harbouring any lingering anger.

I think many still have justifiable anger over what happened with Cyberpunk, but the idea of TW4 is still so far out that it's barely worth commenting on. Plus you would certainly have to hope that they've learnt enough lessons from what happened with Cyberpunk that they're not going to risk doing the same thing again.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,947 ✭✭✭Taylor365

I will buy Cyberpunk when its 9.99 and do the same for TW4 in 2045.

This coming from someone who spent 29.99 on TW3 DLCs! (i admittedly got the game for free by a trade on here and racked up 200+ hours).

I wanted CP to be great, not mad into the futuristic style of games like this but after finishing The Witcher 3 I needed something epic, CP turned out not to be and glad I held off. If it ever gets to a stage where there's no issues/bugs/general crappiness, then I might bite but like above, when it's 9.99 or free!

The native PS5/XSX versions of The Witcher 3 have been delayed. No longer releasing in Q2 2022.

The reason for development being moved back in house is also due to it being worked on by the Russian branch of Saber Entertainment

The primary source for the Russia link is this: https://ixbt.games/news/2022/03/31/...a-razryva-s-rossiiskoi-saber-interactive.html

This was posted on March 31:

CD Projekt RED has decided to break off relations with the Russian office of Saber Interactive, which has been creating a non-xtgen version of The Witcher 3 for PS5 and Xbox Series for the last two years. The reason - the company is Russian.

This comes amid the withdrawal of the Polish company's products from sale in Russia. It is noteworthy that earlier, shortly before the announcement of the new The Witcher, CD Projekt RED appealed to users from Russia.

The Witcher 3 release for next-generation consoles PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S is now in question. Previously, it was expected to be held in September this year."

"The Company is currently *evaluating the scope of work to be done* and thus has to postpone the game’s release, previously scheduled for Q2 2022."

I wonder will they cancel it.

Good news, arriving towards the end of this year on next gen consoles. 😁

Been waiting so long to do another playthrough, that’ll be my entire winter sorted now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,503 ✭✭✭EoinMcLovin

Until they give an actual release date and announce that it's gone gold, I'll take this with a grain of salt. This was already supposed to come out last year and got pushed back to this year. Enough games announce release periods and then months later delay even further (Starfield as an example). November/December would be ideal time anyway as 2023 looking pretty packed already and not many games coming out this Winter (Still not sure on GOW Ragnarok coming this year).

I haven't played this yet. I got the game of the year version with all the dlc s for buttons. Been waiting for the upgrade and time to play it. So I've no gripes with CDPR. Nice one from the company.
