Today I did something to my car (volume 2)

Spent the day scrubbing and grinding rust and sprayed the fuel tank in bitumen spray.

I painted the whole rear end in rust encapsulater before I left. Should be interesting to see what it looks like in the morning.

Undersealing a car is so tedious, when I done my Glanza I done the whole underneath with a polycarbide wheel and went back to bare metal. Started restoring another starlet, have it on a spit so getting it blasted this time round

Got the fuel tank, rear subframe, heat shield, exhaust and 4WS system nailed back in today.

Started scrubbing whatever suspension parts that are getting reused too. I'm hoping to get the whole lot painted tomorrow.

I'm waiting on two new ball joints to land and then it'll be all back together and ready to finally head off to the panel beaters.

The ball joints finally landed so I nailed everything back together.

The ball joint for the 4WS system is unobtainium from Honda these days. Some clever lad figured out that a track rod end from a SAAB 9000 has the very same thread pattern and pitch so I bought two and they're bang on.

That's everything done now but my pal is out the door in his panel beaters, I was begging him today but he ran away screaming.

Ha ha true - if it was a Dublin taxi it woud be 400k. Longest car i i've ever owned - nearly 7 years. And to think it was the wife who picked it - a diesel avensis would never have been my first choice. Anyway it's 12 years old now and doesn't owe me anything so when i ever get something newer ill hold onto it and park it up in the garden or do something interesting with it "project car wise"

Talking if radiators i ordered one from Micks garage for a 98 Astra G now i just put Reg in and it came up this radiator will fit your Astra G 1.4 petrol, arrived Wednesday and its bigger, thought might be able to get it to fit but then noticed the lugs at bottom to connect fan wouldn't line up anyway, so have to send it back but will have to pay return postage, suppose i should have measure my one against one on picture on Micks site first ( advice to everyone else). Pitfalls on getting on line local shop would just walk back in with in.

Don't think its a option anymore to collect or return to Micksgarage.

Got the new rad put in and she's back up and running again.

I ground off the last bits of rust that were hiding behind it and painted it all back.

It's finally going in on Thursday to get the body work done. I got volunteered to help for two days too.

Fully welded up and ready for filler and paint. I'm over the moon to finally have the new arches in. I learned a lot too.

What’s the quick release oil drain bung? Like a tap that screws in?
