Hi, sorry I’m late to the party, I only just come across board now ( in a panic). I have my interview this week too, and I’m really worried about the Q&A after the presentation too! I was wondering if anyone had any further advice or tips, I’m falling down a rabbit hole trying to think of what they could ask!

I have mine this week also and it clearly states in Strategic Analysis doc that no candidate is expected to be an expert in the area that they select for their topic.

The Strategic Analysis makes up 33% to the overall score which is a tad bit mean considering the amount of work that has to be done for it.

I'm putting the work into the interview. That's where the questions can get complex IMO.

    Best of luck

I also have mine this week. Good advice on previous page regarding questions around how you picked the strategies for the presentation. Thanks Crinkley. Will focus on the competencies and hope for the best at this stage...best of luck to all.

Just did my interview there. So glad its over! I've never prepared for anything as much before. First civil service interview so who knows, but let's see!

Anyone know when the interviews for this batch are over? I seen someone has an interview on the 21St. Anyone have one later than that date?

Anyone on the panel yet? And if so have you been offered a position in a particular department?

Just wondering what the turnaround time is for successful applicants. Thanks

Anyone else doing a postmortem on their interview?! Should have said this, why did I say that?! I feel there were a few places I could have provided clearer/better answers but honestly the barrage of questions was intense. I go between thinking the interview went well and that it didn't!

    Anyway, good luck to all!

I was literally just telling a colleague the same. I felt I'd start to answer a question and they'd cut in. In one or two instances they finished the sentence for me 😂 I hope they give me the score for that too 😂😂. Overall I think it was ok not great but ok. My brain was complete mush yday afternoon.

😂 I was trying to jot down some of the questions they asked me afterwards for my own notes, but honestly I couldn't even remember most of them! It was such an avalanche.

Back to regular work today now and feel like I have a lot of catching up to do!

Any idea roughly how long we should be waiting to hear??

Yes I feel like I've been off for a week 🤣

I did the interview last year and the q's were similar. That doesn't mean it helped me in anyway though. From following the posts from the last batch, it might have been 3-4 weeks but I'm open to correction there.

had the interview on Monday. Glad its over. Felt like I was back doing the Leaving Cert.

Hope it went well for everyone who has done it so far and best of luck to those yet to do it.

Thanks so much for all the advice posted so far. I have my interview next week 20th April. Can I just ask if anyone was asked about implementing policy or strategy at an organisational / government level?

Anyone having an interview after the 22nd? Results are usually released quite quickly after, maybe two weeks after the last interview.

Omg I just had my interview and im exhausted. Questions come thick and fast and they want specific short answers. It’s a blur it went so quick 😑

Just as an update on competition progress, I got my invite to stage 3 (Interview / Exercise) today for Dublin, having received Stage 2 results on 23/03 (scoring in the 140s).

My date is during the week of the May Bank Holiday.

That’s great that another batch is getting called for interviews especially for the group just interviewed.

Just to let you know as someone from the second batch I have been given a department and references checked but my Garda vetting is still in progress it’s been 3 weeks so once again patience is key

    Fantastic news!

Hopefully the batch just interviewed don't have too long to wait for the outcome. Dreading it! Trying to be positive !!

Dreading it too! I'll be afraid to open the message!

Best of luck to the next round interviewing.

Fantastic news. Can I ask you how long you were waiting to hear the outcome of your interview..... I have zero patience and prefer to get bad news quickly 😂

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 954 ✭✭✭crinkley

It was 4 weeks for me finding out but I think 3 or just over 3 weeks from the last interview. Waiting on the Garda clearance is worse because you can track it and it hasn’t changed for 2 weeks

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 793 ✭✭✭jaja321

Gosh, 3 weeks after the last interview would be nearly a 5 week wait which seems a long time - I really hope its not that long. I need to put the postmortem behind me and move on!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 954 ✭✭✭crinkley

yeah we were waiting for a very long time, hopefully it will be quicker for ye
