I got to the point that once a week I done a reboot on my 2016 MS.

I found it just worked then and didn’t have as many bugs etc

At the end of the day, you’d reboot your phone every few days, your laptop daily etc

Tinting is on my mind. I have the white car and love the dechromed bits so I reckon tint will look great to complete the contrast. I'm debating the front side windows. What % is "safe" if I don't want any hassle at Garda checkpoint etc, opinions? No NCT for a few years but I don't want to be taking the mick either...

It's not just NCT you need to consider, it's insurance also

I'd want my maps delivered on floppy disks by post. Can't see who would ever want up to date satellite maps automatically downloaded while you drive. Preposterous!

    :-)

Ah floppy discs, ye think it was bad enough abandoning the CD/DVD drive, I remember not just the A drive anxiety but also the world to fall apart from stopping the real floppy discs on the B drive

Fair point Slave1, are you doing the rear side only?

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 19,848 Mod ✭✭✭✭slave1

Yes, rears including the little triangle piece over rear wheels

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 42,327 Mod ✭✭✭✭Gumbo

Im doing 20% on the rear doors, rear quarter panel window and the rear hatch/roof up to the cross member.

I will then do 35% on the front as it’s light enough to see through but dark enough to know it’s there.

I’ll worry about the NCT in 2 years.

I will also dechrome and fot Matt black emblems.

I’m white M3P with gray wheels.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 19,848 Mod ✭✭✭✭slave1

NCT is 4 years away, I've Matt black emblems ordered too.

I'm going to plasticdip the side mirrors.

How would you rate the 3P versus your S and what regrets do you have? Has your car surfaced up for sale yet?

@Gumbo Don't you mean that your wheels are 'Midnight Silver Metallic', not gray. Trying to save from a mod ban? 😁

Gumbo would you pm me the details of who you are using for the tint and dechrome. Thinking of doing the same myself.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 19,848 Mod ✭✭✭✭slave1

They can call it silver all they want, it’s gun metal gray with silver metallic “glitter”

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 42,327 Mod ✭✭✭✭Gumbo

I’ll take the ban to be factually correct 🤣🤣🤣

Yes Tesla have it up for sale at €66,500. Stripped off the free connectivity and supercharging of course.

    Pros of swapping.

    newer car.

    warranty.

90% of the performance on daily driving.

compact size for city work, parking and in and out of tight sites I work in.

newer tech (MCU/Dashcam/Sentry) and I actually used Netflix while waiting on the kids at football training the other night.

Slightly better refined switchgear if you get me.

feels tighter into corners less boaty compared to the S

i love the minimal interior some won’t but I do and always did

and this is a weird one, the smaller steering wheel I really like over the large S wheel.

    Cons.

    miss opening the sunroof.

miss the powered boot (although that’s on the new 3’s).

the door closing etc is slightly Shea per sounding than the S but the 3 is a cheaper car.

I thought I’d miss the air suspension more but 80% of the time I don’t but thawed is one or 2 times I say to myself, would that road have been more comfortable in the S?

I will most Likely use Padraig in Flawless Detailing to do the tinting. He is in the Tesla owners group and I was in with him the other day. He is also PPF on the centre console for me.

I will most likely use Wrap it Design in D11 for the dechrome as he done my previous S and I was happy with the work and price.

    I largely agree.

What I miss from the S

Smoother ride, S obviously had fatter tyres and air suspension, no difference on motorway or good roads

    Space, S was ginormous

Leather steering wheel, I liked the real leather feel

Acceleration, S was deffo quicker off the mark but I'm no so bothered about it, 3 is still "fast"

AP1 was perfect as was the latest UI version

    Dash screen behind wheel

    Positives from the 3

I love the centre console, storage was sparse in the S

Color, I like my MSM, especially the way it matches into the Aerowheels which I prefer over the alloys

    Seat is more comfy

Efficiency, same range as my S with much smaller battery, heatpump makes a difference

    Warranty

    Negatives from the 3

The contactors make huge noise, the indicator noise is also too loud

The indicator noise volume goes up or down depending on how loud you are listening to something.

Also, there's a mode called Joe Mode (not sure is the S had it), but it quietens down all internal cabin bings and bongs, so maybe the indicator noise as well?

Anyone else having problems where the media source doesn't resume when you return to the car? Spotify never just resumes I need to switch the source from radio back to Spotify and then pick the track again which is a bit annoying.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 73 ✭✭Smck1983

Press left scroll button and it will pause media and then press again and it will play. That seems to work for me. Annoying but works.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,187 ✭✭✭✭AndyBoBandy

I find this with both Spotify & TuneIn

Usually a double press of the left scroll wheel resumes it, but sometimes it'll just come back on by itself about 10 minutes into a drive (which is fun when you had something on turned up really high).

Shows how new I am to the car, only noticed yesterday that when you open the door and still sitting in car, the volume turns down. Handy for not waking the neighbours at 2am..

Hi All, I am collecting a model 3 today at 4pm. I thought the car would be fully charged, I see now that is not the case from this tread.

I will be traveling back to Cork, do Tesla give me a charge card or something like this or how can I charge the car.

I have a checklist to go over the car, is there anything else I should look/ watch out for. I will go to the nearest charge point I can find.

    Thanks

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,994 ✭✭✭✭mfceiling

You "should" have enough to get you to the SuC in ballacolla. No cards, apps, or visa card needed. Just plug in and charge and it will be taken from your account.

I presume that they have card details of you already?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 100 ✭✭phat1

Hi I am not sure they have my card details as I just paid the deposit from my account with the bank details the gave me.

Day 1 first supercharging session is free :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 100 ✭✭phat1

Ok that does not sound to bad, thanks

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,401 ✭✭✭Fingleberries

@phat1 When I picked up my M3 last week it was at 100% (picked up at Sandyford).

Going for my first long road trip next week Dublin > Galway (a bit of driving and sightseeing while there) > back to Dublin.

Looking forward ard to stretching the legs of the car, looking at the charger coverage situation has me a little nervous, but I think I have it all worked out.

Not any more unfortunately. So I was told at collection.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,187 ✭✭✭✭AndyBoBandy

Didn't someone on fb say that this was no longer the case?

Which model are you collecting? If the Model 3 RWD the LFP battery may not be calibrated correctly until fully charged. If your charge % is fairly low when collecting would recommend you charge before Ballacolla.
