It will be interesting to see how Russia pulls back all it's troops elsewhere in Ukraine now that they are giving up on it. Hopefully the Ukrainians will relieve them of as much of their equipment as possible and send troops back with their tails between their legs.

Surely Ukraine will turn it's full attention to taking back Donbass now. Russia will have to devote ongoing resources to keeping it for a very long time, hard to see how it will be worth it to them. Full sanctions should remain in place until a proper resolution is agreed, and Russia doesn't have much of a bargaining position now. The Russian plan was likely to go full Mariupol on Kyiv until Ukraine submitted and gave them everything they wanted, thankfully they didn't get that opportunity.

I'm hoping with the Russians retreating NATO sends more weapons to Ukraine including Tanks and Ukrainians go for the jugular and kick the fuckers out of their country

Don't give the Russians an inch more of their country

And even then, in true Stalin fashion, he pitted them against each other, just to keep them off balance. And given his previous history of purges, especially with the military, that was a very uncomfortable place to be...

Just wondering if that % against mandatory covid vaccination certificates has anything to do with the actual vaccine it self???

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,991 ✭✭✭jmreire

No, it definitely has not been a win for them, and neither is the war over ..... so its not "Game Over yet!!!

The priority at the moment is Ukraine, thats Nr 1. when its sorted, then there will be time to look at Crimea ( and Donbas region too) But I seem to remember some posts / tweets about lots of Russian owned property's being put up for sale in Crimea already. Google "Rats leave sinking ship first" Putins henchmen scramble to sell homes in annexed Crimea. If its true, it shows a very interesting trend.

Update for today - Given these announcements on Russia 're-concentrating its efforts' to the Donbas, it will be interesting to watch Russian movements to the west of the Dnieper - specifically the large force north of Kiev is 'out of place' (and barely moving)

Also these musings on the French evacuating Mariupol - hoping it at least puts pressure on the Russians

Sic semper tyrannis - thus always to Tyrants

    It will now.

There is no such thing as pre-2014 Ukrainian borders. There are only Ukrainian borders, those recognised by the Countries who matter and they include Crimea and the rogue territories in the Donbas.

Russia has to be seen to be punished half way back to the dark ages for this War, such that any other State that has remotely the same idea (China over Taiwan for example), will run a mile from a similar invasion.

The West can supply materiele indefinitely to Ukraine and at the same time get a UN GA resolution for peace keepers, which will be Western troops to secure safe objectives within Ukraine and give the Ukrainian military as much latitude as they need to secure the regions compromised in 2014.

The immediate goal for the Ukrainians should be to prevent as much Russian military hardware making out of their country. They should make it clear that all Russian tanks, APCs, artillery, etc. remain targets on their withdrawal. Soldiers are not targets and non-armoured vehicles will be given safe passage, even put on buses to bring them to the Russian border. See how many Russians are willing to risk their lifes bringing tanks, etc. home and how committed they really are now that the Russian military leaders have said all the soldiers killed outside Donbass was for nothing.

Still very very unclear on what is happening in Ukraine, in the same day we are told Russia are at kievs gates and also they are on the run from Ukrainian military

the Wagner group and Chechnya death squads are now in Ukraine but then there is no evidence of this

we are told Belarus have invaded from the north but this has not happened

number of deaths of both sides hugely over inflated

from air strikes on hospitals to cinemas to schools supposedly containing thousands of women and children that not one has been verified

the only verifiable fact is the Ukrainian president does not appreciate Irish peoples help, I have never felt so embarrassed and angry about what he said.

we should immediately stop taking any Ukrainian refugees to Ireland , our help is not wanted than don’t give it

I thought it was made quite clear that there are multiple translations of what Zelenskyy said, and only one could be taken as negative. I’m not surprised with the posters on Boards that are taking the one negative meaning.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 434 ✭✭tooka

I have not read anywhere the president making his point more clearer

their embassy here had to issue some sh1t to keep us on board

    to hell with them

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,498 ✭✭✭Fighting Tao

It’s not hard to find information to counter the negative translation.

One poster that understands the language also explained it on the CA Russia thread.

The only people who think “to hell with them” are supporters of the Russian regimes. No empathetic or logical person would think it.

    not from their president

    to hell with their arrogance

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,498 ✭✭✭Fighting Tao

Do you think he has time to go and correct a simple mistranslation? Russia has invaded and there are more pressing matters…just in case you haven’t noticed.

It has been explained, and unless a person is sitting in the bunker in Orwell Road with their fingers in their ears, they won’t be getting too hot and bothered trying to push this. So to hell with your arrogance.

Stop making excuses for the man

he is constantly on the media

i don’t like him and I believe he is just another corrupt dictator in the making, Ukraine is just another turkey

we don’t need the Ukraine in the EU as they are nothing but trouble

Ohh look another russia war crimes apologist who puts their own feelings before verifiable facts.

I have seen many truly delusion comments in my time but that rings the bell right at the top.

Possibly the most embarrassing thing I’ve read on boards.

you’re condemning a whole country based on two words.

that’s some privilege you have there.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 434 ✭✭tooka

What is delusional is Ireland getting involved in a war that has zero to do with us as a neutral country

what is delusional is Ireland taking thousands of Ukrainian refugees when we do not have any housing for our own people never mind the refugees

what is delusional is going to economic war with the country who gives Europe it’s energy

what is delusional is pretending the president of Ukraine did not embarrass the nation in front of the whole world

there is so much delusion in this country from Irish people who hate being Irish, they want hundred of thousands of refugees even though we have no way of paying for them, they want inflation just like they wanted the crash in 2007 because they want everyone to be poor.

I think most would be more likely to direct your last sentiment towards you rather than them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 434 ✭✭tooka

In your head I am sure

my opinion is the majority opinion, we have a housing crisis worse than it has ever been, a crap health system, a poor education system and getting worse, good public amenities do not exist and yet we are told we should take 200,000 Ukrainian refugees

the majority of Irish people agree with me, take care of own.

we have serious issues in this country that need solving, let’s solve them before we go and solve the worlds problems.

The only verifiable fact 😂 so much waffle to get in one paragraph to have a moan about a perceived sleight was unnecessary tbf.

What we should do, is ignore the likes of you and continue to support our Ukrainian neighbours in every way we can.

I am confident the majority of the population doesn't need a pat on the head from anyone to do the right thing, and also that they can listen to what people actually say, consider it in context, and not turn into something that makes up the comment section on the daily mail website.

Look, your game is not a new one and is transparent. It's just background noise though. Zekensky has done a fantastic job for his people and that is literally his job. His use of the media, his continuous pressuring other countries (The US and Germany in particular, Christ can only imagine how much hurt your poor heart would have felt if you had been German when he was genuinely criticising them) and his ability to thread the needle has been awe inspiring.

Natural leadership in full flow, using everything at his disposal.

"People say ‘go with the flow’ but do you know what goes with the flow? Dead fish."

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 434 ✭✭tooka

    Why should we support Ukraine?

why not do something about Yemen?

of course you won’t answer that seriously because you are like the rest of the deluded on here that dont do reason

see a bandwagon jump on it

I guarantee you, the majority of our population are not selfish like you.

Ukraine are in their hour of need, and we are there for them.

And we don’t need a blue Peter badge from Zelensky either, he has more pressing matters at hand.

The majority of irish people don't agree with you, same as for they don't agree with anything else you posted on here and the CA thread.

If they did then the parties whose p1ss poor racist, homophobic and anti immigration talking points you have been repeating on here wouldn't be the laughing stock they are.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 434 ✭✭tooka

Trust me the majority of people understand we have a housing crisis and they do not want thousands of refugees brought in to make things worse

    this is a fact

    Show me the facts.

because all I have seen is our country opening their arms to welcome them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 434 ✭✭tooka

The majority of people do not want to take refugees , we don’t want them here

ask anyone looking for a council house, or trying to buy a home what they think of thousands of immigrants coming in that will need housing

sure there is a sizeable portion of deluded do gooders who believe their way is the only way like yourself but hey you won’t be around when the trouble starts , you will be sitting in your lovely home in your lovely posh community clapping backs

As pointed out its your comments here which are delusional.

Evidently you have not thought through any of that diatribe. Because if you had, you wouldn't be here stupidly trying to suggest that collection of rubbish in any way represents "us" or that Irish people providing support to the Ukrainian people are "Irish people who hate being Irish"

Get away up the yard with ya.
