    Cork was about a month from construction to Live, Enfield kicked off in Dec 2017 and originally delayed due to various location/planning issues...

    I'm guessing Cork site is connected via the Mahon point shopping centre and there was 1 MW of free capacity at the local substation. The Enfield and Athenry have just been a disaster to get connected.

    Cork was advertised for a while, just not the exact location.

    It was Mahon Point themselves that spilled the beans when they released a bulletin showing the link up with Tesla. But it all still happened really fast, similar to Tralee.


    I'd love if a load more of those Tralee/Cork style sites popped up here and there, outside of the motorway networks, hotels, retail parks etc.... somewhere where the power is already available.

    Was over in sandyford this morning and called into Tesla (have a nosey at the Y and see the supercharger).

    Asked the sales person when would the chargers be up and running.

    "Whenever the ESB flick the switch...I'm serious man"

    He thinks maybe this month they'll go live. Literally are ready to go except for the ESB.

    V3 as well.

    The day I sell my S with free SuC for life is the day Sandyford/Athenry and Enfield will go live, I fffff guarantee it

    If I was the manager of another hotel in the country that could host a SuC, I'd be watching those 2 very closely over the next few weeks to see how much their restaurants turnover increases once the SuC's go live.... (I know they probably can't see actual figures, but within the hotel/restaurant trade, surely they talk amongst themselves...).

    If the country got flooded with loads of 2/4 stall sites, dotted everywhere, it'd be grand, as if there was enough of them you'd always have a choice of about 3-4 SuC's no matter where on the island you were.


    I envisage the day when a Tesla driver in Ireland will never have to bother with any apps or cards for charging providers, because they'll simply always within easy reach of a SuC.

    @AndyBoBandy - that day came many years ago in the likes of Norway and the Netherlands. Not even any need for any home charge points. And the price of supercharging is only cents more than home charging too.

    In Sandyford the chargers are erected, the tarmac in its place even the parking lines are painted. I imagine by the end of the week they will tidy the place ready for connection.

    So that's 3 SuC sites now awaiting connection from Anna's cousin.....

    I bet the next new SuC site gets announced before all 3 of these sites go live.

    They're on the next lot on the road after the service centre. The site was previously a small strip of grass where you'd never envisage a SuC going. It's the grass behind the Tesla sign in this map: https://goo.gl/maps/tjjCvcmtGZBTnQjX8

    Plus talking to the guys last week they are V3 chargers so expect very fast charging!!

    I was in Birdhill at the weekend and another Tesla pulled in next to me.

    Just to point out that on V2 stalls (you can tell because they will have two cables) the stalls are load shared between A and B e.g. 1A and 1B share the power.

    So I asked the Tesla driver to move to the next free stall which he did no bother, else both of us would have had reduced charging speeds.

    On V3 stalls (just the one cable) there is no load sharing so charge wherever you want

    V2 Castlebellingham N&S, Ballacolla, Birdhill, Tralee

    V3 Cork, Enfield, Athenry, Sandyford

    Can't wait to test them. My record is 190kW at Ionity. Would I climb over 200kW at SuC? Imagine that 200kW or 16.5kWh (100km range) in 5 mins.

    You have a long range, LR can charge up to 250kW (until 25% SOC then it will taper off) once battery warm enough and low state of charge, Tesla battery temp for peak charging is 40degrees.

    With a zero percent SOC and warm battery you should get to 50% SOC in 16minutes

    Not in a million years.

    But sometimes when there are working on cars there they plug them in (the lifting ramps have chargers on them). When I was there a few weeks ago they plugged the car in for the few hours it was there.

    Yes thanks, even an hour at 11kW would make my day easier, they are doing a job on the lights. They hinted it's not just a simple job of the usual alignment which I have already attempted. Apparently the matrix lights may need further focusing using light boxes. (I think Bjorn already has a video on similar).

    When you drop it in just ask the guy if they can plug it in while working on it, and don't forget to raise the slider to 100% (mine was set to 80% when they had it, and it hit 80% about an hour before they were finished).

    They are actually quite sound in there.

    I called in last week for a nosey and asked about the superchargers opening. The guy said to me that if I need a charge just plug into one of the external chargers they have there.

    Whenever I've left a car in for service work and it was low going in, I always got it back with at least a significant charge level.

    Only three of them are standing. The forth is probably not up due to access. Looking at the plans is very close to the substation. This is the one I said you'll need to reverse into as there will be no room for maneuvers.

    Yup, so goes the rumor anyway. Probably for the influx of Deutsche Autos with chargepoints on the wing/fender.
