    I'm just stunned

    What the hell.

    I've the same feeling. Scary

Seen a replay on twitter that shows a shot landing on the forehead hard know if its concussive though

  • Posts: 13,753 ✭✭✭✭ Maren Chubby Sunblock

I have never seen anything like that.

Still struggling to understand what happened, Conlan totally untroubled by Wood for 10 1/2 rounds, seemed like he just capitulated out of nowhere.

Yea that’s it he wasn’t giving it much for about 45 seconds then just seemed to hunker and fall backwards. Very worrying

Was there actually a proper shot there. It looked like Conlon suddenly passed out and fell through the ropes.

Was going to say after the fight that Conlon has all the tools but he'll need the best chin in history to get anywhere, he was taking far more than necessary. Fingers crossed all's good, would've been nice to get a thumbs up on the way out.

It should never have come to this though, if Conlan had the power Wood would have been out of there by 5/6th round.

Didn't look a massive shot to me which is kind of more worrying

Hope Conlon is okay, could have broken his neck the way he fell out of the ring, ..was a hard watch.

Difficult to say exactly from this angle

It looked to me that Conlan just seemed to collapse. That's worrying.

Fair play to Wood for both his comeback and his classy reaction afterwards.

I don’t particularly like MC but I wish him well and I hope he’s ok.

As I said, IMO he has never improved as much as I thought he would.

I thought Wood possibly could win via KO or stoppage. MC has a suspect chin and hasn’t got the punch power either to get lads out of there, hence the longer a fight goes on, the more a fight goes on, the more chance against him.

Might be worth considering hanging them up from MCs perspective.

fair fuks to Wood, thought he was finished at the start👏

Looking at replay on twitter conlan was caught with a right and just folded

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,326 ✭✭✭waynescales1

It actually looks like Conlan is finished before the beginning of that clip.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,252 ✭✭✭deisedevil

Really? He was a round away from wearing the belt. Do you really think his career is over already?

Words looks uncomfortable there when announcement was made, seems more interested in how Conlon is, in fairness to him 👍

It looked to me like Conlan was out of it just before the punch that knocked him out of the ring.

Wouldn't be surprised to hear it was exhaustion or his heart gave out.

No idea why he turned that into a Gatti vs. Ward tribute.

Mick gave every ounce of his being, and was exhausted. Think some ordinary shots landed.

Mick showed great stamina, toughness, variation, versatility, defence, feet....everything!!

Key difference to determine result: Wood a little more physically stronger, and Mick's tank emptying more than Wood..

It seemed to take very little to knock him down in 11th but I was convinced he didn’t slip. Did the corner check how old he was? In 12th he had nothing. Nightmare ending.

Boxing never ceases to amaze - what a sport. Hope Conlan is ok. :-(

There's a very slight contact roughly when he went limp but it looks like he collapsed/took a turn.

    Conlan's defence iffy

For his style of boxing (technical variety but no real power so basically looking for points wins) he got hit too much and from a guy that he knew has more power than him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 59,088 ✭✭✭✭walshb

No no.....accumulation takes its toll. Mick took a hell of a lot shots to head and body.....and he was very very tired. A very dangerous predicament

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,963 ✭✭✭Morrison J

Dunno like he was clearly tiring but he still threw a **** load of punches in the 11th for a man that fatigued. Clearly had something in the tank. Mad finish can't really wrap my head around it tbh. The replay looks very innocuous.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 59,088 ✭✭✭✭walshb

Not really. Far superior to Wood's. Wood was that bit more physically strong

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 59,088 ✭✭✭✭walshb

Yes, was still throwing, but his body language rd 11 looked worrying for me....Wood was the one more relaxed/pressing.

He was moving back and away juts before the end....look at his body and face....Mick was in serious trouble stamina wise there...

Why Conlon decided to just lean back on the ropes and use he face as a punching bag for significant periods from round 5-6 onwards I'll never know.
