I thought the Mercedes looked ok in the Corners , the straights are a completely different Matter . Still one of the worst for it if not the worst. Haas is bad but at least they have the excuse that they are hours behind .

Today Ferrari again looks the best , does not look smooth but can put in lap times . Redbull right at the end has pace also but did look heavy going into the corners and was wide a lot. it is probably the smoothest on the straight . So a head of the rest on that part.

Mclaren had a long day of very little running again with the brake issues only really showed up in the last 1:30min with Norris putting in some times.

Aston didn't look too bad really and good times from Stroll .

I can only assume the cars that turn up next week on all sides will be different again .

and it seems Magnussen set he fastest time in the extra running time

Hamilton's onboard today it was like he was in the World Rally Championship through the corners. Ferrari are in a good place looking very promising.

Danny Roc has covid. Think that's him out of the race next week?

Awe that's a pity. Must have been why he was feeling down so.

Who will sit in instead of him?

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

So it looks like Mclaren have no reserve driver confirmed. I wonder would Aston Martin lend then Nico Hulkenberg? Would love to see him in the Mclaren and driving the new cars.

I'd like to see how that floor stands up to any kerbs, it looks incredibly low on the Bahrain car.

Will Stevens and Turvey are the simulator drivers. Dunno if Stevens license would still be valid but Turveys would be. They have used O'Ward in tests but he is also unlicensed for F1 iirc.

Probably take on Vandoorne from Merc I'd guess if they had to.

I think all of the team engineers talking to Sky were saying that low speed corners seems to be the biggest problem.

The Ferrari looks beautiful in red and black:

It is the best looking by far. And it is legit quick, from the looks of things.

One week to the first qualifying session of the season. The petrol is starting to flow into my veins.

Better not say that too loud! The way fuel prices are going someone might kidnap you and end up like one of those Las Vegas ‘legends’ that involve someone trying to get the petrol out of you! 😂

Lads, what's the cheapest way to watch the f1? I don't have sky anymore.

Edit: to add, to watch it in English. I know I could get super sports in Turkey, but my Turkish is crap.

There's a bargain alerts thread about getting some sports stream for about €2 a month and I think F1 is included, presume it's English commentary .

Edit, link below. I didn't read any of it bar the title.

What are people's thoughts on testing so far?

Enjoying it, mad to see how difficult the cars seem to drive compared to the way they were last season. Seeing Merc down the timesheets is giving me early but cautious hope, same with seeing Ferrari at the top. A season long duel between Sainz and Leclerc, with Verstappen and Hamilton in the mix too, would be awesome. Saying that would also like to see McLaren and maybe the odd Alpha Tauri win.

Disappointed with Alpine so far - this was Alonso's reason to come back, and he doesn't have a lot of time left to start winning again.

Impressive from Red Bull and Ferrari.

Hoping McLaren or a few others can join the mix

Hope we see 6 or 7 different winners this year

Porpoising on the merc is awful

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,302 ✭✭✭TheRona

Speaking of porpoising, what's the agreed pronunciation? I've seen a couple of YouTube channels pronounce it how it's spelled, rather than 'paw-puhs-ing' that I'd expect.

Gonna drive me mad if the commentary team pronounce it as it's spelled all season!

Racing news 365 podcast has an interesting take on the replacement for the Russian GP. He said Turkey is offering about 10% of the normal race fee. That was fine during covid but its unlikely to impress anyone now. He actually said Russia pays about $55m and Turkey offered about $7m so actually closer to 15%).

He also said the middle East is out of action during that part of the calendar because of the heat. So maybe portimao but they were only paying a small fee similar to Turkey for the last couple of season.

It'll be interesting to see how they fill that slot.

Worried by what I have seen so far from Alpine. Really want to see Alonso at the front one last time....

Also hope Merc can turn up with some fixes in place next week, be great to have GR up there .

'poor-puss-ing' is how I would pronounce it. Whatever way it's pronounced, hopefully we'll only hear it in relation to the mercs. 😁

In some non-testing news, it's only a matter of 'when' we'll see Coltan Herta in an F1 car at this stage.

The Redbull such a long way ahead of the rest the smile from Herr Marko says it all.

Looks like Adrian Newey has developed a monster.

1 Redbull , after to day way head

2 Ferrari , Consistent over the whole Test but lost the lead today and clearly

3 Mercedes , I would say only the known engine power they have hidden will keep them here at the moment . The Car looks a hand full , It doesn't appear so bad in some corners but any where its fast it must be horrible to sit in it

4 McLaren / Aston . Breaks fixed Clearly McLaren but if not it is probably Aston

    5 Alpine and the Alpha's

6 Haas maybe , hard to know as I am unsure if Williams are good or not either.

I do believe all teams will be points scoring this year . And a decent mix in the mid field
